Scott Wilson Dies; The Walking Dead Star Was 76

Scott Wilson, a veteran actor of the small screen and big screen, has passed away from complications related to Leukemia.

He was 76 years old.

Scott Wilson

Wilson had an extensive resume to his name at the time of his death, one that included well over 50 movie credits.

But he's likely best known at this point for his long-running role on The Walking Dead of Hershel Greene.

In both the comic books on which the AMC drama is based, along with television series itself, Hershel was introduced by saving the life of Carl Grimes, the son of Rick Grimes, after the boy is shot by one of Hershel's neighbors.

During his stint on the program, Greene served as the moral center of his group of survivors.

Wilson appeared on 37 episodes of The Walking Dead, debuting in 2011 and leaving in 2014.

Scott's rep, Dominic Mancini, spoke to TMZ and confirmed the cause of death fo the celebrity gossip website

He added that Wilson was "a national treasure, a calm voice, and a gentle spirit to everyone who came in contact with him."

He reportedly passed away peacefully at his home in Los Angeles.

At The Walking Dead's panel at New York Comic-Con just this week, showrunner Angela Kang said that Scott (along with former stars Sonequa Martin-Green and Jon Bernthal) would be returning for the upcoming ninth season.

It premieres this Sunday, October 7.

(This announcement took fans by surprise, considering Hershel was decapitated in the season four episode Too Far Gone, only to have his head turned into a zombie and then killed again in the later episode After.)

While most modern TV fans know Wilson well from this role, he arrived to The Walking Dead after many decades in the entertainment industry.

Wilson's career got underway in 1967 when he landed a role in the classic film, "In the Heat of the Night."

He went on to appear in a multitude of other iconic movies, such as "In Cold Blood," "The Great Gatsby" and "Dead Man Walking."

Scott earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actor for playing Captain Billy Cupshaw in the 1980 film, "The Ninth Configuration."

His other recent television roles include Hostiles, The OA, Damien and Bosch.

Wilson's survivors include his wife, Heavenly, an artist and attorney.

No memorial plans have been announced.

May the beloved actor rest in peace.

The Walking Dead Actor Scott Wilson Dies at 76 Due to Complications from Leukemia

Scott Wilson, a star of The Walking Dead, In Cold Blood and many others, died at his home in Los Angeles on Saturday due to complications from leukemia. He was 76.

Wilson’s rep Dominic Mancini confirmed the news to PEOPLE Saturday evening. “Scott was one of the most genuine, inspirational, and truly beloved people,” Mancini said. “His amazing legacy will live on through his timeless performances. He will be missed deeply by his wife, family, and friends.”

“Scott will always be remembered as a great actor and we all feel fortunate to have known him as an even better person,” AMC said in a statement. “The character he embodied on The Walking Dead, Hershel, lived at the emotional core of the show. Like Scott in our lives, Hershel was a character whose actions continue to inform our characters’ choices to this day. Our hearts go out to his wife, family, friends and to the millions of fans who loved him. Scott will be missed.”

The news of Wilson’s death came within hours of the New York Comic-Con announcement that he would be reprising his role as Hershel Greene during the first half of The Walking Dead‘s ninth season, which kicks off this Sunday. It will be one of his final onscreen performances.

Wilson is survived by his wife, Heavenly, whom he married in 1977.

Wilson had a long career before appearing as Herschel Greene during the second season of The Walking Dead and becoming one of the show’s most beloved characters to date.

Born in Georgia in 1942, Wilson made his onscreen debut in 1967’s In the Heat of the Night and followed it up later that year with the role of real-life murderer Dick Hickock in an adaptation of Truman Capote’s In Cold Blood. He played George Wilson opposite Robert Redford in 1974’s The Great Gatsby and earned a Golden Globe nomination in 1980 for his turn in The Ninth Configuration.

Wilson also made memorable recurring appearances on CSI as Sam Braun, the father of Marg Helgenberger’s Catherine Willows, and followed his time on The Walking Dead with roles on Bosch and The OA.

A number of Wilson’s costars shared their thoughts and memories of him following the news of his death Saturday evening.

“The first time I met Scott Wilson, he gave me a big hug and said that this thing I had become apart of… was a family,” wrote TWD‘s Khary Payton on Twitter. “He said I had a responsibility to take care of it. I have tried very hard to do that, sir. & I will continue. I promise. See you on the other side, my friend.”

“Scott Wilson has departed. I am heartbroken. We are fewer. Go easy into the light brother,” wrote Bosch‘s Titus Welliver.

“I just heard the news about the passing of #ScottWilson,” Yvette Nicole Brown said on Twitter. “He was a wonderful man and I am heartbroken. #RIP #Hershel #TWD”

“Scott Wilson was simply the finest actor and more importantly the finest and most decent man I ever knew. A Noble actor and my dear friend,” wrote Rob Schneider. “Scott Wilson had the best lady to share his life, Heavenly Wilson. My heartfelt condolences to her & to all of Scott’s friends the world over.”

The official Twitter account for The Walking Dead comic book, upon which the AMC show is based, posted, “We are deeply saddened to report that Scott Wilson, the incredible actor who played Hershel on #TheWalkingDead, has passed away at the age of 76,” the statement read. “Our thoughts are with his family and friends. Rest in paradise, Scott. We love you.”

Brooklyn Nine-Nine Star Stephanie Beatriz Marries Brad Hoss in L.A.-Inspired Wedding

Stephanie Beatriz is officially a married woman!

On Saturday, the Brooklyn Nine-Nine actress tied the knot with her partner Brad Hoss in an intimate wedding while surrounded by friends and family — and her costars!

The newly married couple said “I do” in front almost 300 guests at a celebration the two planned the whole wedding themselves.

“We decided that we wanted it to really reflect us. So for us that meant being involved every step of the way, meaning that we didn’t hire a wedding planner,” Beatriz, 37, told PEOPLE just days before the nuptials. “We did it ourselves, which is a pretty big undertaking when you consider there’s gonna be close to 300 people there.”

And despite the challenge, Beatriz said she was feeling fine two days before the big day.

“My friends are all calling me ‘bridechilla,’ ” she joked. “They’re like, ‘Why aren’t you stressed out?’ and I’m like, ‘Cause I’m marrying an awesome human.'”

For the wedding, the two settled on a theme close to both their hearts: Los Angeles! Beatriz and Hoss planned the celebration as a little tribute to the city they fell in love in, while the bride went for an “easy and fun” wedding dress from Grace Loves Lace.

“We’re kind of doing a lot of theatrical recreations of our favorite stuff in L.A. Like, the flora and fauna and how no matter the time of year something is blooming,” she explained.

Guests were also in for a treat once they arrived at the reception, which featured special rooms celebrating the best parts of the city and food trucks instead of traditional buffets.

When it comes to the dance floor, Beatriz is betting her costars will be some of the first jamming out to the ’90s cover band that will be playing. The actress said Andy Samberg, Melissa Fumero, Chelsea Peretti and the rest of the cast were “psyched” about the wedding.

I think all of us are excited to dance. That’s one of our favorite things to do when we’re out all together, at a birthday party or whatever. Everybody loves to hit that dance floor.”

She continued, “And not for nothing, all of them are pretty new parents. They deserve a night to just let loose and celebrate life, and I’m really, really excited that they’re all gonna be there to celebrate with me.”

Jenelle Evans Trashes The Hollywood Gossip (Hey, That’s Us!)

Jenelle Evans is not very happy with The Hollywood Gossip at the moment.

Yes, this The Hollywood Gossip.

The website you're reading right now.

In a barrage of Tweets on October 5, the Teen Mom veteran took extreme issue with a story we ran earlier in the week in which we alleged that her son, Kaiser, was in the hospital following a medical procedure.

You can read that story HERE.

We had no ill intentions by writing the article. We were simply passing along information as we had received it and we wished her child nothing but the best in the process.

But scroll down to see what Jenelle had to say in response, along with why she dragged Briana DeJesus into her critique...

1. Kasier Has Our Full Support

Jenelle evans an kaiser in the hospital
This is what we wrote on Friday afternoon: "Jenelle Evans takes a lot of flak from Teen Mom 2 fans, but today, she's receiving nothing but much-needed emotional support. Jenelle's youngest son, Kaiser, has been hospitalized, and this week, she updated her Instagram followers on the scary situation. The bad news is, Kaiser is still hospitalized after undergoing multiple procedures."

As you can see, Evans took exception to this article on our site. Pretty major exception.

3. This is What She Wrote:

This is what she wrote
"My son is NOT hospitalized. He’s HOME. ANYTHING for money these days, even if it’s about innocent children," Evans penned as the Tweet to her photos. (For the record, we want to reiterate, that we simply passed along information about someone in the news; and her son, who is often mentioned and discussed on Teen Mom 2. There was no judgment or accusations attached to our post. We literally just shared photos Evans herself posted of Kaiser in the hospital on Instagram.)

4. Kaiser is Home

Kaiser is home
Kaiser is now home, Jenelle wrote on Twitter. To which we say: Hooray! We hope he is making a full recovery.

5. Eff You, Briana!

Eff you briana
How did DeJesus get involved in this? She shared a link to our story on her Twitter page and she wrote: "Kaiser HOSPITALIZED following ABUSE allegations." Jenelle responded to that Tweet with the photo above.

6. Whoa There!

Nathan and kaiser being tough
We did not say or even hint that Kaiser was in the hospital due to any form of abuse. We wished him well and wrote very clearly that he had to undergo some unfortunate procedures.

Kanye West Deletes Social Media After String of Controversial Comments

Kanye West Deletes Twitter and Instagram Accounts After Trump Rant and Album Delay

Kanye West has quit social media again.

On Saturday, the 41-year-old “All Mine” rapper deleted both his Twitter and Instagram accounts.

His unexpected hiatus comes just a week after the outspoken Chicago native’s appearance on Saturday Night Live in which he surprised the audience with a pro-Donald Trump rant.

While wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat, West wrapped up the show’s season premiere with a third musical performance and a lengthy speech about his support of the president that did not make it to air.

“He made it uncomfortable for the cast and  Adam Driver by calling them back onstage and not saying why and then went off on them,” a source told PEOPLE.

“The show had been supportive of all of Kanye’s visions throughout the week, even giving him the opportunity for the third song during the goodnight ,’ and then he surprised everyone,” the insider added.

West — who has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder — recently revealed he’s off his medication and announced the delay of his album Yandhi, which was supposed to drop on Sept. 29.

“I didn’t finish it,” the rapper said about the album during a TMZ Live interview on Monday, adding that he was planning on going to Africa in two weeks to continue recording.

Explaining the rationale behind the trip, West explained that while he was in Chicago recently, “I felt this energy.”

“I felt the roots. I need to go to what is known as Africa — I need to find out what it’s really called… and just grab the soil and be and cook food,” he remarked, adding that he’d also like to “have my kids in the studio and have my mic in the open so we can hear nature while we’re recording.”

“It’s just a full Ye album,” he explained, adding that all of the albums he’d previously released weren’t on the same level as the music he’s currently working on. “Those five albums that I dropped earlier were like superhero rehabilitation. Now the alien Ye is fully back in mode, off of medication, working out, breaking as much fresh air as possible, thinking, doing, being himself.”

While it was not immediately clear why West deactivated his accounts, a source previously told PEOPLE the star is struggling as the eleventh anniversary of his mother Donda’s death approaches.

“If you remember, it was a year ago that this happened … almost exactly a year ago,” an insider close to the rapper told PEOPLE exclusively about his controversial actions in recent weeks. “It happens every fall as we get close to the anniversary of his mom’s death.”

Donda died in 2007 of heart disease while suffering “multiple post-operative factors” following a plastic surgery operation.

Rage and Tears: Celebrities React to Kavanaugh’s Controversial Supreme Court Confirmation

Celebrities are sharing their outrage after the U.S. Senate’s 50-48 vote on Saturday to place Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court for a lifetime appointment.

“I’ve been on a plane all morning. Just landed. Trying to make it home. Feel like I want to scream. And rage. And cry,” Ava DuVernay wrote on Twitter before explaining she came across three different people at the airport who shared her same sentiments.

“First was a white man. Early 30s…,” DuVernay, 46, continued. “Both reaching for our bags in the overhead he said: ‘I’m not usually this guy, but please keep doing what you do. We need to hear voices like yours. And I need to listen.’ I could feel his heart. Grappling with the moment in his own skin. We spoke for a bit and then deplaned.”

“The second person was Latina,” DuVernay added. I’m walking through the terminal. She was young. Early 20s. She just walked right in front of me. And stopped. With tears in her eyes. All I could do was hug her and try to hold in my own. She just whispered thank you. I thanked her too. We parted.”

“Last was a white woman with an accent from somewhere far away,” she wrote. “Early 40s. She said I’m sorry to disturb you on a day like this. I said something I’ve never said to a stranger. I said: I want to cry. She looked back at me and said: ‘Me too.’ Our eyes both welled up. And we did,” DuVernay concluded.

Kathy Griffin, 57, also expressed her frustration on Twitter, simply writing, “What a terrible day in American history.”

Fellow comedian Chelsea Handler, who has been vocal about pursuing political activism, was equally disturbed by Kavanaugh’s confirmation but encouraged her followers to exercise their right to vote.

“Another gross day in the history of our country, but the midterms are coming. We are stronger than this bulls—. We can fight and fight and we may not see the results right away, but we will see them. Our daughters will see them. Don’t give up. Fight harder,” Handler, 43, tweeted.

In addition, Lauren Jauregui and Alyssa Milano spoke out against the Senate’s decision. “I’m so sick,” the former Fifth Harmony singer, 22, wrote.

Meanwhile, Milano — who has helped popularize the #MeToo Movement and supported Kavanaugh accuser Christine Blasey Ford during her emotional testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee in late September — tweeted, “People should be f—— terrified and outraged. I sure as hell am.”

“We need to take back our power by taking back the Senate and the House in November,” wrote Milano, 45. “It is the only way out of this mess.”

While several other celebrities flooded social media with their frustrations, President Donald Trump celebrated the news.

“I applaud and congratulate the U.S. Senate for confirming our GREAT NOMINEE, Judge Brett Kavanaugh, to the United States Supreme Court. Later today, I will sign his Commission of Appointment, and he will be officially sworn in. Very exciting!” Trump tweeted.

Kavanaugh’s confirmation comes just over a week after he appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee following a three-hour testimony from Ford, the 51-year-old research psychologist and professor at Palo Alto University who claims that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her at a high school party in the 1980s.

RELATED: Brett Kavanaugh Admits ‘I Said a Few Things I Should Not Have’ During Heated Senate Testimony

Ford claims Kavanaugh, 53, allegedly pinned her down to a bed, groped her and tried to remove her clothes during a high school party in the 1980s. Kavanaugh has also been accused of sexual misconduct by Deborah Ramirez and Julie Swetnick. Kavanaugh has denied all the allegations brought against him.

Following Kavanaugh’s hearing, the FBI conducted a week-long investigation into the allegations, which further delayed his vote.

While many Republicans said they were satisfied with the FBI report, critics have pointed out that it’s far from a complete investigation.

Democrats say the White House put numerous restrictions on who the FBI could interview, and the agency reportedly did not speak with multiple witnesses who say they could corroborate sexual abuse and other allegations made by Ford, Ramirez and Swetnick.

Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, a Democrat, said Friday that “the available (FBI) documents contradict statements Mr. Kavanaugh made under oath.”

The confirmation vote came as Trump, himself accused by well over a dozen women of sexual assault and misconduct, mocked Ford at a political rally. (Trump has denied the allegations against him.)

“My heart breaks for all those who will continue to live in fear and shame that their stories, their pain, their lives are less important than male privilege and power,” a friend of Ford’s told PEOPLE. “Justice has not been served, in the service of the latest Justice of the Supreme Court, and all those like him.”

Kylie Jenner Flaunts Her Fit Frame While Wearing Skin-Tight Strapless Blue Dress

Kylie Jenner is feeling herself!

On Saturday, the new mother showed off her famous curves on social media while wearing a strapless blue dress that fit every inch of her body perfectly.

The Kylie Cosmetics mogul, 21, opted to accessorize her sultry ensemble with a pair of blue sunglasses and an assortment of gold jewelry on both wrists.

In one of the images, Jenner gazed down at the camera while perching on what appeared to be a furry white chair, while in another she stood in front of it, with her hands in her hair and her hip cocked to one side.

Choosing to let the images speak for themselves, she simply captioned them with a diamond emoji.

Minnesota Reporter Fired for Wearing ‘Make America Great Again’ Hat While Covering Trump Rally

A Minnesota news station has fired one of its television reporters after he was seen wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat while covering President Donald Trump’s rally in Rochester.

James Bunner was let go from his job at KTTC-TV, news director Noel Sederstrom told the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, for exhibiting political bias while on the job.

He violated our policy so he’s no longer with us,” Sederstrom told BuzzFeed News on Friday. “We don’t allow our people to wear campaign clothing while on assignment.”

Reps for KTTC-TV and Bunner did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Bunner first joined KTTC in December 2017, BuzzFeed reported.

The reporter’s trouble first started on Thursday when Mark VanCleave, a journalist with the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, tweeted a photo of him standing outside the Mayo Civic Center wearing his KTTC-branded red jacket and matching red MAGA hat.

“Whyyyyy?” he wrote in the photo’s caption.

From there, users noticed that Bunner had uploaded many pro-Trump things to his social media pages. Sederstrom told BuzzFeed, however, that none of those uploads had anything to do with KTTC’s decision and that the MAGA hat was solely to blame.

“It’s not something we allow,” he explained of campaign gear.

RELATED VIDEO: PEOPLE Writer Natasha Stoynoff Breaks Silence, Accuses Donald Trump of Sexual Attack

Critics on Twitter have slammed the news station for their decision.

“You fired your reporter James Bunner a journalist for KTTC-TV in Austin?? Really?” one wrote. “He wore the hat Thursday while covering President Donald Trump’s appearance in Rochester and images of him wearing the hat began appearing on Twitter. SHAMEFUL!! You should allow pride! Rehire him!

“This is employment discrimination and if you pick up a book…firing an employee for their political values is illegal,” said another. “I hope James Bunner takes you to court.”

As BuzzFeed noted, “Prohibiting reporters from wearing campaign clothing or pins, especially while on the job, is standard practice across the news industry. Many news outlets also recommend or warn their staff against making public political displays or statements in order to maintain objectivity.”

Claudia Romani Displays Her Sandy Cheeks In Thongtastic Beachside Photo Shoot

Soccer star, superstar, or sand star, I will always be a fan of Claudia Romani. She’s always the prettiest thing on two legs at any beach she steps foot on. She’s like a land mermaid, if that makes any sense. I would really like an opportunity to get active with her. She’s already brought a ball and I’m game. Maybe we can even transition into volleyball right after. Then watch the sunset, and eventually the stars, as the daylight dies and my eternal love for her that I feel inside does not. Claudia in about 30% less clothes found on the average beach-goer is one of my favorite things to look at.

Another option is for both of us to become beach bums. I’m fine with living off the land. I haven’t been too impressed by what they’ve been showing on TV lately anyway so I wouldn’t miss it. But I am impressed with the outline and shape of Claudia. I could watch her all day, with no regrets. Whatever we decide to do on the beach together, she should know that my answer to her would never be no. Because the last thing I would want to see is a frown on my sand princess’ face.

Adriana Lima’s Giant Busty Top With Rock Hard Nipples

I am pretty sure Adriana knows exactly how visible her nips are. Why else would she be shedding the jacket, the last layer of defense for this type of situation, in order to put them more fully on display? If she was worried about modesty she would have buttoned up that trench coat and put those puppies on lockdown.

When a woman’s boobs are that big, and her nips are that hard, I bet the chafing is out of control. Everybody is always going on and on about the pain that long distance runners undergo when it comes to nipple chaffing, but I think this is comparable. Granted, I have never seen a woman bleeding from her chest simply from walking down the street, but I still think it has got to get uncomfortable.

I do not have big boobs, and I do not have large nipples, so I can only wonder what that must feel like. It could be as bad as Chinese water torture, or it could be as bad as taping sandpaper to the inside of your shirt. I do not know, and I am not dedicated enough to find out.

Former College Football Player Arrested After His Teammate Dies of an Opioid Overdose

Seven months after a promising defensive lineman failed to turn up to practice and was found dead by his concerned teammates, a former player from his college team has been arrested.

On Friday, one-time Rice University football player Stuart “Mooch” Mouchantaf was charged with supplying 21-year-old Blain Padgett pills containing an opioid 10,000 times more powerful than morphine.

The 25-year-old ex-player was allegedly preparing to flee the country before officers took him into custody on Thursday, ABC 13 reports.

The arrest follows the March overdose death of teammate Padgett. The college athlete allegedly believed he was buying Hydrocodone, a prescription narcotic painkiller, from Mouchantaf,  Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg said in a statement Friday.

Instead, the footballer took pills that contained Carfentanil — an opioid whose legal amount is reportedly “invisible to the human eye” and was originally intended to be an elephant tranquilizer, the D.A. alleges.

In June, three months after his passing,  the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that the toxic effects of Carfentanil — which reportedly causes the brain to stop breathing — caused Padgett to die in his sleep, ABC 13 reports.

Padgett’s parents, Mical and Windi, believed their son knew better than to take drugs from someone else.

“He knew that he should not have been taking it, but he did so,” Mical told the outlet, noting that the poor decision “cost him his life.”

“I know if he was here, he would say, ‘Hey, I take responsibility for this,'” Mical continued.

Windi added: “Blain knew about choices like drinking and driving and knew about choices, but I think that this is something that is fairly new, at least it’s new to us, that you don’t take anything from anyone unless a doctor has prescribed it for you, period.”

The young men played together in 2015 when Mouchantaf was a redshirt senior and Padgett was a freshman, reports USA Today. During his three seasons at Rice University, Mouchantaf totaled 51 tackles. Meanwhile, Padgett was considered “a key player” with a “commanding presence” for the team’s defensive front-line.

Following Mouchantaf arrest, Rice University released a statement to the news channel, thanking authorities for their work on the case.

“We’re deeply saddened to hear about the latest developments in the investigation in the death of Blain Padgett, whose family continues to be foremost in our thoughts,” they wrote. “We want to thank the Houston Police Department investigators assigned to this case for their hard work in the wake of this tragedy. In light of the fact that charges have just been filed, any further comment would be inappropriate at this time.”

After Mouchantaf was taken into custody and questioned on Thursday, a judge set his bond at $250,000 once police discovered that he had purchased a one-way ticket to Lebanon.

According to ABC 13, Mouchantaf — who has family in the country and is now considered a flight risk — must wear an ankle monitor and give up his U.S. passport.

The former player has been charged with delivery of a controlled substance causing death and the second-degree felony could result in a prison sentence of anywhere from five to 99 years if Mouchantaf is found guilty, the D.A. said.

At this time, it is not clear if he has retained legal counsel. He is due to appear in court on Monday.
