Ellen DeGeneres has become one of the most hated people in Hollywood because it came out that all she does is go to sports games with war criminals and that she treats everyone who’s less famous than her like garbage. Her reputation is wrecked to the point that even when she threw her hands up and said “fine, I’ll be less terrible,” the general response was “no.”
It turns out that the anti-Ellen DeGeneres is Woody Harrelson. After some people misidentified a guy who made a racist video as Woody, a thread started much like the one that crushed Ellen’s soul but filled with people talking about what a nice guy Harrelson was when they met him.
First off, here’s the video. Comedian Paul F. Tompkins referred to the man ranting here about how he’d go out murdering people left and right if not for the police as a “Woody Harrelson character” as a joke, but a disturbingly high number of people thought he actually was Woody.
This Woody Harrelson character is saying that if we #defundthepolice he and his friends would just start murdering people, which is a weird way to show support of the police but fandom is wild sometimes pic.twitter.com/8gITCs1TFw
— Paul F. Tompkins (@PFTompkins) June 9, 2020
He does look disturbingly like Woody Harrelson, it isn’t. Grant O’Brien from Collegehumor made a post pointing this out and the replies became filled with people saying how awesome Woody was when they met him.
Woody Harrelson is trending because people think he's the racist guy in a video. I was his waiter once and he stayed late and felt bad so he invited me, his waiter, to join his group, let me smoke a full joint, and then went into the racist history of Robert Moses. It's not him.
— Grant O'Brien (@GrantOB) June 9, 2020
Dude, I smoked with Woody too…20 years ago he came to my college to give a talk about environmentalism and whatnot. Later that night he showed up randomly at a house party off campus and like 10 of us smoked with him. This was before camera phones though, damnit.
— Worst Black Mirror Episode Ever (@Orbitron11) June 9, 2020
I was a PA on a movie he was in and we had a few days on location in Joshua Tree. It was my bday and there aren’t many restaurants out there so the PAs ended up with the cast. When he heard it was my bday he said “send that lil lady a Cadillac.” Then paid for everyone’s dinner.
— Marcy Jarreau (@MarcyLane) June 9, 2020
What a nice guy, right? PAs are low on the totem pole and most people (like certain daytime TV hosts) treat them like crap.
When Woody ran out of gas on his motorcycle, I ran and got him a gallon. He let me keep the change. Out of $100. Nicest guy. pic.twitter.com/FtIOwJH9UF
— LA Dad (@LADaddy) June 9, 2020
I was at a hotel a few years back I was carrying my then 1 year old and a backpack and rolling luggage. I accidentally ran over his foot with my huge luggage and he immediately apologized to me and helped me out the door.
— Amrco (@Amrco) June 9, 2020
It’s like Woody Harrelson isn’t even a real person, just an internet meme about how we wish celebrities acted. Come to think of it, Good Guy Greg is smoking a joint, too.
Woody Harrelson came to the bar where I worked a few times while filming A Scanner Darkly. One night he stayed after closing and we taught him how to play a dice game called Cee-lo. Every time he won the pot (usually ~$15-$30) he’d say the same thing as he raked in all the cash:
— Ben From Austin (@BenFromAustin) June 9, 2020
I have been Woody’s bartender when he was only Cheers famous, and he was awesome. Tipped like a drunken sailor, was super nice to everyone and while I have many stories of celebrities acting badly, I have nothing bad to say about him.
— MissConstrue (@MissConstrue) June 9, 2020
It is really nice to know Woody is such a nice guy. I read through a lot of comments and not one person had anything bad to say about him that I saw. A lot of people smoked weed with him, though. Let’s all be more like Woody and less like Ellen.

Ah, Vanderpump Rules, the reality TV show with so much Vanderhumping that the network makes cast members promise not to sue when they inevitably get herpes. Doctors in Los Angeles County will finally get to rest their penicillin-prescribing hand as four cast members were fired by Bravo for past racist remarks that resurfaced recently.
I know, it is shocking to find out that white people in the posh part of California might be doing or saying racist things; I mean, unless you’ve ever been there or aren’t white yourself, then it’s just Tuesday.
Here’s what happened to the Real Housewives spin-off according to TMZ.
Okay, so Stassi Schroeder, who didn’t get fired for calling herself a Nazi a few years ago, so she must have really fucked up this time. She and Doute were accused by former castmate Faith Stowers of calling the cops on her, claiming she fit the description of someone the police were looking for. Stowers says Schroeder and Doute knew she wasn’t the person police were looking for and it seemed to resonate with people who had just seen Amy Cooper call the cops and claim an African-American man was threatening her when he told her she had to put her dog on a leash.
As for Max and Brett, they said the n-word on Twitter when they were teenagers.
— LoveAndyC (@LoveAndyC) January 16, 2020
TMZ added that Lisa Vanderpump hadn’t fired Max and Brett from her restaurant that the show is based around because it’s a restaurant and if everyone got fired from service jobs for dumb shit they said or did when they were teenagers society would collapse.
No word on what will happen to Stassi and Kristen, but they have been fired by basically everyone, like their agents and sponsors and Stassi even lost her podcast which… how do you even get fired from a podcast?

As previously reported, Hartley Sawyer has been fired by The CW.
The actor, who starred on The Flash as Ralph Dibny since 2017, was let go on Monday after old Tweets of his resurfaced online.
They were racist and homophobic in nature.
Said Warner Bros. Television, The CW, Berlanti Productions and executive producer Eric Wallace said in a joint statement:
"In regards to Mr. Sawyer's posts on social media, we do not tolerate derogatory remarks that target any race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, or sexual orientation.
"Such remarks are antithetical to our values and polices, which strive and evolve to promote a safe, inclusive and productive environment for our workforce."
The Tweets were from as far back as 2009 and included such inappropriate quips as:
The only thing stopping me from doing mildly racist tweets is the knowledge that Al Sharpton would never stop complaining about me.
Date rape myself so I don't have to masturbate.
If I had a wife I would beat the hell out of her tonight lol.
@stephenhanks just kidding I don't care and f-gs are fine but sports often make me snore.
In response to the scandal, Sawyer at least didn't try to make any excuses. Nor did he beat around any bushes.
"Regardless of my intention, my words matter and they carry profound consequences," he wrote.
"And mine can and have caused pain and embarrassment, along with feelings I can only imagine, to supporters and fans, my cast mates, the crew, my colleagues and friends.
"I owe each of you an apology. Thank you for holding me accountable."
Now, a day after his co-star was let go, Grant Gustin has commented on the controversy.
Re-posting Wallace's statement on Instagram, the Flash lead wrote in the caption:
"I don't have much to add because Eric's thoughts are stated so eloquently and powerfully. I will say I was shocked, saddened and angry when I saw the tweets. Words matter."
Elsewhere, Stephen Amell, the actor behind character Oliver Queen, retweeted Gustin's post and added:
"Grant is one of the most thoughtful guys I know.
"He listens... and he wears his heart on his sleeve. Proud to have worked with him...
"Also... I'm aware that the showrunner wrote this. I'm supporting my friend. That's it."
Sawyer, meanwhile, continued in his mea culpa as follows:
"My words, irrelevant of being meant with an intent of humor, were hurtful, and unacceptable.
"I am ashamed I was capable of these really horrible attempts to get attention at that time. I regret them deeply. This was not acceptable behavior.
"These were words I threw out at the time with no thought or recognition of the harm my words could do, and now have done today.
"I am incredibly sorry, ashamed and disappointed in myself for my ignorance back then."
Jax Taylor ALSO Falsely Accused Faith Stowers of Committing Crimes: Is He Next to Be Fired From Vanderpump Rules?
As you've likely heard by now, Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute were fired from Vanderpump Rules today amid revelations of racially-motivated harassment of a fellow cast member.
The decision comes one week after their former Vanderpump co-star Faith Stowers stated in an interview that she was bullied by Schroeder and Doute during her time on the show.
The most egregious offense was an incident in which Stassi and Kristen called the LAPD to falsely accuse Faith of drugging and robbing unsuspecting bar patrons.
The friends apparently saw a news report indicating that the crimes were committed by a black woman and decided that the perpetrator looked enough like Faith to justify siccing the cops on her.
This was not the first time that members of the Vanderpump cast had been accused of racist behavior.
The same year that she did her damnedest to ruin Faith's life, Stassi joked about dressing like a Nazi in a tweet that left fans appalled, but carried no consequences.
But whether their treatment of Faith was the final straw, or the show's producers saw the 2018 incident in new light as a result of recent global events, Stassi and Kristen are no longer employed by the show and network that made them famous.
For good measure, producers also fired newcomers Brett Caprioni and Max Boyens, both of whom had been accused of making racially insensitive social media posts.
It's a step in the right, direction, to be sure, but many fans still feel it's not enough.
After all, at least one remaining cast member has a long history of problematic behavior -- that includes falsely accusing Faith Stowers of criminal activity.
Calls for Jax Taylor to be fired from the show have been a frequent sight on social media for much of the past year, particularly after he sought out and harassed a stranger with homophopbic slurs after the man tweeted an opinion about a hockey jersey that Taylor didn't agree with.
Today, those voices are louder than ever, as many have pointed out that Jax is guilty of the same deplorable action as Stassi and Kristen -- namely, falsely accusing Faith of criminal acitivity.
“She’s wanted by the police for grand theft auto and ‘awol’ from military, bad idea to be on a reality show dude," Taylor tweeted about Stowers in 2018, thus propagating not one, but two debunked rumors.
Now, all across social media, Vanderpump fans are calling for Jax to be kicked to the curb.
"Good for Bravo for making some changes but let’s not forget about Jax Taylor," one fan tweeted.
"He spread the story about faith and he made a fake raquel account to gay shame James. #PumpRules #firehimtoo"
"Kristen Doute and Stassi Schroeder called the cops on Faith Stowers but Jax Taylor perpetuated the lie too," another wrote.
"He always gets away with things, Faith said it, the girls attacked her and forgave him right away."
Another person pointed out a bizarre irony in the situation, tweeting:
“The only convicted thief is Jax Taylor," they tweeted.
Jax was indeed convicted of stealing a pair of sunglasses, an incident in which was documented in detail on the show.
He was most likely in favor of getting Faith fired from the series not because he believed she was guilty of any crimes, but because he cheated on wife Brittany Cartwright with Stowers.
As all of this was going on, Faith issued a statement praising Bravo for its actions:
"I was ready to put myself in the line of fire because I don't know what will happen if I don't say anything, but I'm glad I did," she wrote on social media.
"Now I'm seeing Bravo follow suit, releasing women that have given crazy ratings for them because they want to be on the right side of history and I’m seeing people are finally hearing us."
Now, it's time for Bravo to do the right thing with regard to the Taylor situation.
UFC’s mysterious Fight Island has been revealed. If you thought fighters were going to go at it Survivor style on a tropical island, think again.
They’ve identified Fight Island as Yas Island in the beautiful Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Hmm, I guess you can get a good hurricane drink over there.
Fight Island aka Yas Island aka our fighters won’t have to wear masks here island also has a mall, waterpark, an F1 racetrack/hotel, Ferrari World and Warner Brothers World Theme Parks.
UFC has been building the infrastructure for fights ever since THE VIRUS HIT. That dirty virus. Per ESPN:
The designated area of Yas Island that will make up Fight Island includes an arena, hotel, training facilities and dining establishments, per the UFC. It will also include a “safety zone” of 10 square miles in which the only people permitted will be athletes, coaches, UFC staff and limited personnel.
UFC 251 has been announced as the first card on the island. As far as cards go, it’s pretty strong. Check it out:
UFC Welterweight Championship: Kamaru Usman (c) vs. Gilbert Burns
UFC Featherweight Championship: Alexander Volkanovski (c) vs. Max Holloway
UFC Bantamweight Championship: Peter Yan vs. Jose Aldo
Jessica Andrade vs. Rose Namajunas
Amanda Ribas vs. Paige VanZant
Paige VanZant still fights? Her and her fake boobs seem to be more about being an Instagram model than actual fighting.
The headliner, Kamaru Usman versus Gilbert Burns, looks decent. No Jorge Masvidal though. That dude still wants more money.
What’s really interesting are the two fights below the headliner.
Volkanovski versus Holloway is a rematch of their fight from last December’s UFC 245. Volkanovski took a unanimous decision in five rounds, but it was close. No argument with the decision here. What’s interesting is Holloway is still so young and can improve. Let’s see what new tools he brings to the fight.
Yan versus Aldo is another good one. Yan is on the rise, but still overlooked. He ko’d a 40-year-old Urijah Faber with a leg kick to get the title shot.

Bella Thorne has moved on from her protesting to celebrate a cause I assume is close to her heart, some ORANGE LIVES MATTER.
I am not sure I am allowed to say ORANGE LIVES MATTER without backlash, I am not trying to get political, I mean this is about underboob not the flaws in our system. I can’t even believe I have to post a disclaimer when writing ORANGE LIVES MATTER because it’s obviously not a real cause and not designed to belittle any movement you may be out there protesting for. The internet is worked up and we all must tread VERY lightly.
That said, Orange Lives Matter to Bella Thorne, she’s got orange hair, her weed strain is called FIRE CROTCH, or was going to be called fire crotch, so being orange is sort of what she’s about, part of her personal brand, part of her marketing efforts, which is probably why this shoot is ORANGE!

Tori Roloff isn't totally sure what to say right now.
Nor is she totally sure what to say.
But the Little People, Big World star is gonna give it a shot.
With protests erupting in every state across the country, and civil unrest at perhaps its highest point in our nation's history, Tori has shared a new photo on Instagram.
And, along with it, she has made a heartwarming vow.
"I promise to teach my babies to love your babies," wrote the popular reality as a caption to the picture below of her two kids, Jackson and Lilah.
"I have learned a lot the last few weeks. I hope we all have. The world is hurting and I’ll keep praying," she added.
The topic of race relations and how to help end the oppression of minorities in America is maybe the most pressing challenge facing our country right now.
And also the most daunting.
As a result, many folks out there -- let's be frank, many white folks in particular -- aren't really sure how to help the cause.
Previously, Audrey Roloff quoted the bible and also talked about turning to God during this difficult times -- and that prompted some backlash from her own brother-in-law.
Jacob Roloff, who attended at least one protest in Oregon over the weekend, threw some pretty clear and strong shade at Audrey when he classified "empty gestures and fancy platitudes" as being "very, very bad" right now.
This is a time for action, Jacob and others believe.
Tori, for her part, hasn't come right out and supported the Black Lives Matter movement directly.
Nor has she, actually, done anything in response to this challenging situation.
However, she does seem to be speaking deeply from the heart when she writes;
'I read an article about conflicting feelings during this time and it really resonated with me.
"I can support black lives AND good cops. I can want to speak up AND feel like this is a time to listen."
One major issue at the moment, of course, is police brutality and what to do about the way African-Americans are targeted by the authorities and inappropriately punished.
In ways that even include death, such as was the case with George Floyd.
"Having the platform I do I feel like it’s my responsibility to be a good role model to others, and that is sometimes really scary. But I am here to say I’m trying. Im listening.
"I want to be here to bring light into the world. I am here to pray for you. To love you. I am here to support you."
And concluded Tori:
I vow to teach my kids how to love the world and everything in it just like God did. My kids are different and I vow to teach them the world is not against them.
Jesus is with them. It’s their responsibility to stand with others. To love others.
I promise to live out my life doing my best to remind myself of this and guide my family to love more.
Just a couple days ago, Tori's mother-in-law also issued a lengthy statement in response to these protests.
Amy Roloff said her heart is broken and that she's been struggling with how to respond.
Which makes total sense, right?

Cardi B has been a little MIA for the past few weeks, when the COVID-19 pandemic started, Cardi was all over social media demanding that someone who works at the Pentagon tell her what the fuck is going on. Then she got admitted to the hospital for an unknown reason un related to COVID, some people brought up the age old rumour of girls getting sperm pumped out of their stomach but I don’t think thats a real thing so we’ll assume she was in the hospital due to complications of all her recent plastic surgery.
Anyway, Cardi made her social media comeback with a hair tutorial. Cardi has really long gorgeous natural hair that she usually keeps up in braids under her colourful wigs. She shared her go to hair mask which consists of avocado, mayo and a cracked egg. Watching Cardi crack this egg with her 4 inch nails was what really hooked me into this whole thing… amazing.

Frida Aasen is straight from the mean streets of Norway, the land of opportunity if you’re a skier, because Norway invented skiing, something Lindsey Vonn appreciates I am sure.
Frida Aasen is best known for being the unique faced model that walked the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in 2017 and 2018 before that was cancelled, in part because Victoria’s Secret represents the patriarchy, misogyny despite selling women’s products to women, using unrealistic versions of women, which in today’s society is not considered aspirational, but rather abusive. Which for those of us into aspirational hot models posing half naked is a real downer!
Then there’s the whole Epstein thing the owner of Victoria’s Secret funded, which is obviously criminal human trafficking weirdness, that may warrant being cancelled as well as the allegations of the head recruiter for the brand’s models being a creeper as all men in power of his age probably are. Coupled with the whole COVID crisis where malls everywhere are closed and thus made in China panties aren’t being bought.
What a mess! Almost stressful to write out, but it’s not about Victoria’s Secret, I was just using that to let you know she’s got their stamp of approval and in 2017 when she got it, it meant something!

Alessandra Ambrosio paid homage to the worlds oceans by posting a heartfelt message to her Instagram on International Oceans Day. The Victoria’s Secret model is spending her quarantine in her home country of Brail, which makes it pretty easy for her to spend time in the ocean. She put on a pair of flippers and goggles and went for a swim in the crystal blue waters, posting a video of the dolphins swimming along with her. She also took this time to promote a brand that is using recycled ocean plastic to create jewellery.
Today on #worldoceansday we have an opportunity to raise awareness of the benefits humankind derives from the ocean and our individual and collective duty to use its resources sustainably.
Our blue planet needs our protection – climate change, overfishing and plastic pollution mean that our oceans are under threat.
Today is about celebrating the diversity of marine life we have. After all, there is so much left to fight for and we need to make sure that future generations get to experience the beauty of the oceans that we grew up with.
This Oceans Day why not make a pledge to go plastic free, choose only locally sourced sustainably caught fish or join a beach clean?
Also you can help support by getting your Goal 14: Life Below Water @togetherbandofficial made from ocean plastic with funds from the sale going towards supporting vital @wwf projects to protect our oceans and coastlines or by learning more about innovations for sustainable ocean at @unworldoceansday

Are you a Harry Potter fan who is pretty bummed to find out that the woman who wrote it is terrible? As someone who wrote a book report in seventh grade on Bill Cosby’s Fatherhood, I feel your pain. Cosby’s stand-up is still really funny even if he did become a tedious moral scold and, oh yeah, a convicted rapist.
Daniel Radcliffe, who vaulted to fame by playing Harry Potter in the big-screen Hollywood adaptation of the books, is also pretty bummed, and he made a statement about it through The Trevor Project.
Transgender women are women. Any statement to the contrary erases the identity and dignity of transgender people and goes against all advice given by professional health care associations who have far more expertise on this subject matter than either Jo or I. According to The Trevor Project, 78% of transgender and nonbinary youth reported being the subject of discrimination due to their gender identity. It’s clear that we need to do more to support transgender and nonbinary people, not invalidate their identities, and not cause further harm.
Now, I’m just an opinion writer and there’s not really one single definition for any kind of bigotry, but I can tell you that if you don’t accept that trans women are women and trans men are men, you’re a transphobe. And if you feel the need to hem and haw and equivocate about that and go “Okay, but don’t women have the right to spaces without trans women in them,” well, then, you’re a transphobe.
Radcliffe also hopes that the absolute cuntery of its author doesn’t ruin Harry Potter for you if it meant a lot to you growing up.
To all the people who now feel that their experience of the books has been tarnished or diminished, I am deeply sorry for the pain these comments have caused you. I really hope that you don’t entirely lose what was valuable in these stories to you. If these books taught you that love is the strongest force in the universe, capable of overcoming anything; if they taught you that strength is found in diversity, and that dogmatic ideas of pureness lead to the oppression of vulnerable groups; if you believe that a particular character is trans, nonbinary, or gender fluid, or that they are gay or bisexual; if you found anything in these stories that resonated with you and helped you at any time in your life — then that is between you and the book that you read, and it is sacred. And in my opinion nobody can touch that. It means to you what it means to you and I hope that these comments will not taint that too much.
Sometimes bad people make art that we enjoy. In fact, it’s almost exclusively bad people who make the art that we enjoy. At a certain point, you’re going to find out that something you love was made by someone you consider to be a bad person. Probably a song. You can pretend it was made by Hatsune Miku or you can accept that human beings are all flawed but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the things you enjoy in your limited time on Earth. I guess you could also burn them like those weirdo Christian groups did with the Beatles. As a last resort, you could try reading a book written for adults, that might be a nice change of pace. Just not The Corrections, that is like 1,500 pages of boring. I mean, maybe something interesting happens eventually, but when I realized I was reading a detailed description of dust I just tapped the fuck out.

Kids, you need to be regularly deleting your tweets and other social media posts. When you log into Facebook and it shows you what you were doing a decade ago, it should be showing you nothing because you deleted all those posts nine years ago.
Case in point, Flash actor Hartley Sawyer, who plays Ralph Dibny, the Elongated Man, was fired after some dumb tweets he made in 2012, as reported by ScreenRant.
Among those are one from 2012 that stated, “The only thing keeping me from doing mildly racist tweets is the knowledge that Al Sharpton would never stop complaining about me,” and others from 2012-2014 that state, “Enjoyed a secret boob viewing at an audition today,” “If I had a wife I would beat the hell out of her tonight lol,” and “Date rape myself so I don’t have to masturbate.”
Okay, first of all, I’m not sure that first one is actually racist. “Welp, about to go do a racism on Twitter dot com,” is not a racist statement. But Sawyer’s jokes were pretty tasteless. Still, they were jokes he made a decade ago.
On the other hand, as someone who watches Flash every week and has for the past six years… I could not care less about Hartley Sawyer leaving the show. Ralph Dibny was a great character for about half a season until his story was basically wrapped up and then he should have left the show. Seriously, Legends of Tomorrow fired Brandon Routh and Courtney Ford because they didn’t know what to do with their characters but Flash kept the fucking Elongated Man around for three entire seasons? Oh yeah, he’s a big help when Eobard Thawne returns to menace the team, he’ll stretch at him. Elongated Man was such a bad character in the comics that he was overshadowed by two other DC heroes with his exact same powers, one of whom was Jimmy Olsen.
What was I doing on Twitter in 2012? Turns out it was nothing, I didn’t make a single tweet before 2019. Soon to be before next Thursday. I certainly didn’t accidentally start that rumor that Glenn Beck raped and murdered someone like two months before that Fark.com post and anyone who sees my Twitter account will be able to confirm that.
Maybe you’re thinking “Well, I don’t say anything problematic on social media so I don’t need to delete my posts.” Yeah, that’s great, but what if society suddenly decides eating meat is evil and cancels everyone who does it? I mean, not that specifically because vegans are terrible, but that picture of that veal piccata on your Instagram is going to get you fired from Olive Garden when some washed-up teenager who used to be on a Disney show tweets it out in 15 years. Delete your tweets.

Warmer Brothers has spent decades trying to recapture the charm and wit of the Looney Tunes and Merry Melodies shorts from the 1950s and 60s, usually to little success. The vast majority of entertainment from 1950 does not hold up today, but Warner Brothers’ cartoons are not only as funny to a modern audience as they were to their parents and grandparents, but they’re still funnier than most of what Warner has made since, excluding the few years in the 1990s when they struck gold with Animaniacs, Pinky & the Brain and Freakazoid.
The latest attempt to revive the classic Warner characters, mainly Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig, and Daffy Duck, is Looney Tunes Cartoons on HBO Max. Some previous attempts had toned down the violence of the original cartoons, and while the new series largely doesn’t, viewers will notice one big difference: there are virtually no guns.
I say virtually because the first Bugs Bunny cartoon of the new batch, which features Yosemite Sam, opens with smoke and the sounds of gunshots in the distance, though no guns are seen on-screen.
Peter Browngardt told the New York Times “We’re not doing guns, but we can do cartoony violence — TNT, the Acme stuff. All that was kind of grandfathered in.”
Even without guns, there is still a lot of cartoony violence. In the Elmer and Bugs short I watched, Elmer comes after Bugs with a pitchfork and an ax as they fight over the use of Fudd’s swimming pool on a hot day. And I have to admit it was actually pretty funny. The ax especially is part of one of the better gags of the episode.
You can watch classic Looney Tunes episodes where Elmer has his rifle, like Rabbit Fire and Rabbit Seasoning (though disappointingly not Duck! Rabbit! Duck!, the third part of Chuck Jones and Michael Maltese’s hunting trilogy of shorts).
Rabbit Fire, in particular, is still perhaps the funniest Looney Tunes or Merry Melody cartoon ever made, so maybe it’s a good thing the new show has to find new ways to pit Elmer, Bugs, and Daffy against each other; the new series is pretty good, but it would do itself no favors being compared to classics like that.
At the end of the day, I understand the lack of guns; these are cartoons for kids and the current generation of kids has some pretty deep trauma surrounding guns with the unbelievable number of school shootings and active shooter drills. If you were making a cartoon for kids to watch and relax, you probably wouldn’t put a gun in it, either.
Less forgivable are the decisions to use Bugs Bunny’s older yellow gloves and Daffy Duck’s original zany personality instead of the shrewd, selfish, more cowardly persona he adopted starting in the aforementioned Rabbit Fire. Those are the things people should be complaining about on social media.
