Charli D’Amelio is the First TikToker With 100 Million Followers, Just Days After Losing More than A Million
Nigel Ng is a British-Malaysian stand-up comic who has recently become incredibly popular playing the character Uncle Roger, a surly older Chinese man based on his father and his friends’ fathers and uncles. The character got his start reacting to a video of a BBC cook making egg fried rice which he viciously took down for being incorrect.
That video made me laugh so hard I think I might have ruptured something, and it eventually piled up 18 million views. Ng put a lot of work into the character and infuses his weekly Uncle Roger videos with a lot of dry wit as he watches videos or gets a job at a restaurant and berates the customers, and it’s translated to over 2.5 million subscribers for Ng.
Ng’s latest Uncle Roger video, where he works in a bubble tea shop in Sweden, also helped me understand why Charli D’Amelio has 100 million followers on TikTok and her videos have upwards of 40 million views minimum when Uncle Roger said “TikTok all videos of underage girls dancing. I’m not a pedo.” I finally get why people are watching her channel and I don’t want to be anywhere near those people.
It is apparently a powerful force because just last week D’Amelio was canceled for not sounding grateful that she had so many subscribers and saying she was hoping to get to 100 million soon. More than a million people unsubscribed from her channel and literally four days later she’s at 100 million.
The Verge reports that D’Amelio is expanding beyond TikTok with “a podcast, further expansion into YouTube, the announcement of a book deal, and more.”
I can’t think of anything I want to do less than read a book written by Charli D’Amelio. Luckily, no one will ever have to because the actual book will be written by a ghostwriter, which is some poor schmuck like me who will have to listen to her ideas, pretend they’re good, somehow turn them into a book and then let her take all the credit.
What I’m saying is stop paying attention to Charli D’Amelio and go watch something actually entertaining on YouTube like Nigel Ng or Good Mythical Morning or if you must watch someone sexy dance on TikTok find someone who’s old enough to have boobs. Just 2-3 years older, more “Girls of the PAC-10” and less “Girls who look 10.”

Jenni Kohan has been the creative force behind some great TV shows; unfortunately, all of those TV shows started a slow, Game of Thronesian decline around the third season. Both Weeds and Orange Is the New Black started strong and then lost their central premise around the third season and started branching further and further out from what made people want to watch them in the first place until they dropped from critical and commercial darlings into shows you heard were coming back but never actually got around to watching.
Kohan wasn’t the creator of Netflix’s GLOW, very loosely based on the very real Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling promotion from the 1980s, but she was an EP and the third season of the show started to suffer the same fate as the rest of Kohan’s shows. The first two seasons were dominated by the ins and outs of the in-universe GLOW wrestling promotion, culminating in a show-within-a-show episode of the fictional GLOW late in the series’ second season. It was glorious, with just the right balance of comedy, melodrama and pro wrestling to keep people hooked and talking about it.
Then the third season happened. Following the cancellation of the GLOW tv show, the girls moved to Las Vegas to put on the wrestling show in residency at a hotel and casino. The pro wrestling aspects of the show all but vanished, along with most of the humor, leaving the show a husk of what it had been. The third season had Kohen’s trademark fingerprints all over it as most of the changes involved pulling focus away from the central characters of the earlier seasons and pulling out for more stories about the supporting ensemble, none of which were particularly strong stories. Netflix canceled the series because the COVID pandemic almost felt like a mercy killing.
Marc Maron started campaigning for Netflix to bring the show back with a two-hour movie finale to tie up all the loose ends, but Deadline reports star Allison Brie doesn’t think fans should get too excited by the prospect.
“I’m a little pessimistic about it actually happening just in light of everything that’s gone on this year and how difficult it is to get anything back into production with COVID,” she said.
Brie also added that for years, fans have also requested a Community movie, but noted that such a film has yet to come to fruition.
“So what I’m saying is don’t hold your breath because if it does happen, it might take a minute,” she said.
“Six seasons and a movie” pretty quickly became “six seasons, only four of which you’ll watch on Netflix when you’re stuck at home during the pandemic” for Community.
Luckily for GLOW fans, the series already has a pretty great finale. Just stop watching at the end of the second season when the ladies are on the bus for the trip to Las Vegas. It works as a series finale and you don’t have to sit through the third season.

New York City Reveals Latest Victim of COVID: Orgies
The COVID-19 pandemic has killed over a million people worldwide, and it’s getting much, much worse as we head into winter and the traditional cold and flu season. My area has had more positive cases in the past month than it had previously had since the outbreak began at the beginning of the year, and the relatively modest severity until now has led to a lot of complacency, but there is still some guideline you should follow to stay safe; for example, don’t get into a big naked pile with a bunch of strangers and f**k each other.
I would have thought that one wouldn’t be a particular problem but it turns out that I underestimated the sex drive of people who like to get into a big naked pile and f**k, because TMZ reports New York City just shut down an underground swingers club that was operating in violation of health and safety guidelines. Of course, anyone who can have sex with a stranger while maintaining six feet of physical distance should be in the Guinness Book of World Records.
The cops say they found three couples having sex in a small room — apparently, this swinger joint — which goes by Caligula, of all names — has services for that if you’re looking to get busy. The Sheriff’s Office even snapped a shot of one of those rooms, plus a price sheet going over rates, and what looks like a box of condoms!
Now when they say “a box of condoms” they don’t mean the twelve-pack of trojans you pick up on the way to the hotel to meet your high school girlfriend while her husband is out of town; they mean a box like you would put your pots and pans in when you were moving to a new apartment.
There was a fine for the owner, who was also serving booze illegally because why not turn your sex speakeasy into an actual speakeasy? They probably should have let that one slide, anyone who gets fucked by half a dozen strangers on a mattress in the back room at a place called Caligula deserves a stiff drink afterward. TMZ points out the orgy patrons were much more polite than a group of businesspeople also in violation of the meeting ordinance.
This is almost a complete 180 from what went down in neighboring Buffalo just the night prior — when Sheriff’s deputies and county health workers tried barging in on a packed business meeting to shut it down, only to get chased off by the mob.
The people at that business meeting were all wearing pants, so it was probably just easier for them to fight back.

So much for the pair living happily ever together in Los Angeles.
Amid reports that Tristan and Khloe were once again hot and heavy with each other, we can now reform that Thompson is headed someplace very cold.

On Saturday, the power forward's agent confirmed to various outlets that Tristan has signed a two-year contract with the Boston Celtics.
It wiill pay hiim $19 million per year, which is an impressiive haul -- but it will also mean the father of two will be working on the opposite end of the country from his girlfriend.
Tristan has played the entirety of his nine-year career with the Cleveland Cavaliers, winning an NBA title in 2016 with the franchise.
He can still live part-time in Los Angeles with Khloe and their daughter, True, of course, and he can live their full-time during the offseason.
But still.
For a couple dealing with the fallout from brand new cheating allegations against Thompson, this change of teams presents yet another obstacle.
How will Kardashian be able to monitor her man across an entire nation?
In different time zones?
Boston is a city full of colleges and universites and young women who may throw themselves at Tristan, too.
Sadly, we've seen how he's responded to such advances in the past.
Celtics fans -- whose team needed a rebounding and defensive presence in the paint -- reacted to the sports news on Twitter, with one Beantown native tweeting that she was “looking forward to seeing @KhloeKardashian around my city.”
“Welcome to the Celtics,” another person wrote on social media.
“So excited to have Tristan play for the Celtics!” another follower wrote to Kardashian. “Hope to see you at the games Welcome!!!”
Thompson and Khloe seemingly got back together this summer after splitting in early 2019 because Thompson was caught kissing Jordyn Woods.
That swapping of spit followed Thompson also cheating on Khloe back when she was extremely pregnant with their daughter the year before.
The guy can keep even quick point guards away from the basket when he switches on defense... yet can't seem to keep himself from sleeping around.
Lord knows how Khloe keeps going back to him over and over and over again.
An Us Weekly source recently said that Tristan “has been really good to her recently,” but “Khloe has been warned by everyone that if he even looks at another girl, that’s the last straw.”
She seems to be aware that Thompson is on thin ice.
