The biggest fashion event of the year took place in New York City on Monday night.
Per tradition, stars from sports, film, television, music and nearly every single industry that represents Hollywood stopped by the Metropolitan Museum of Art to dress in some very unusual outfits.
And some wildly expensive outfits.
This year's theme for the MET Gala?
"Camp," which is a refefernce to to Susan Sontag’s 1964 essay about artifice and stylization.
Sontag notes that songs, movies, buildings, furniture, novels, people and, of course, clothes, all can encompass camp.
In fact, Sontag gives her own examples of “campy” things, which included Tiffany lamps, Swan Lake, King Kong and Flash Gordon comics.
Whatever. Just feast your eyes on the crazy ensembles from this annual event below!

We all know there's only one thing that matters each year at the MTV Video Music Awards.
It isn't the videos. It isn's the music. And it isn't even the awards.
Not the official awards, at least.
But the unofficial ones we know our readers care about; that is, the ones that refer to some as the Best Dressed and others as the Absolute Worst Dressed.
And then there's Amber Rose. We have no clue which category she belongs in.

The Teen Choice Awards aired live from Los Angeles on Sunday night, August 12.
And we'll be honest:
The red carpet was bereft of some star power.
Gone are the days when A-Listers such as Justin Bieber or Taylor Swift attended this event.
In their place, however, were the rising celebrities of today and the gigantic celebrities of tomorrow.
What better way to make an impression than with a unique or risque outfit, right?

Expect Kendall Jenner to announce her pregnancy soon.
We don't say this due to the ongoing rumors surrounding the 22-year old model.
We say it because Kendall is apparently very jealous of her siblings and doing all she can to emulate them these days.
And you know what Kardashian-Jenner siblings keep doing these days, right?
Popping out babies!
We're kidding about the pregnancy announcement on tap, of course, but not about Kendall recent penchant for Kim and Kylie-like nudity.
Last week, Kendall stripped down to absolutely nothing, sitting on the bathroom floor for a selfie that involved a wine glass, a towel on her head... and nothing at all covering her body.
It was as if Kendall was scrolling through her sister's Instagram page and decided to see what the reaction would be if she went ahead and got naked.
Fast forward to Friday at the Cannes Film Festival and Kendall walking the red carpetin a green dress that might as well not have been a dress at all.
It might as well have not had any material on top, considering the way Jenner's nipples were on full display for all to see.
And we mean FULL DISPLAY:
Kendall donned this intriguing ensemble, which was designed by Alexandre Vauthier, for the the Secret Chopard party.
She then shared a picture of the extremely revealing number and wrote as a simple caption "oops."
Oops, Kendall? Really?
Are you trying to say that you accidentially forgot to wear a bra? Or that you didn't realize this sheer top was completely see-through?
Come on now. When you make a bold fashion statement, go ahead and own it.
This dress (and these nipples) stand out especially because Kendall is not typically the member of her family to create such waves on social media.
She's usually content to walk runways across the globe and to continue establishing herself as a legitimate and successful model.
She doesn't flaunt her romance. She doesn't make sex tapes. And she's yet to have a single baby out of wedlock.
"It's obviously a bit weird that your little sister is having a baby before you," Jenner says in the latest issue of Elle. "I didn't expect it to happen like this. But it's beautiful."
The star goes on to say that Kylie giving birth to a daughter has at least made these sisters "closer" than ever before.
Are there any kids in Kendall's future?
But she's 22 years old! She'd barely be out of college, if she went to college, and she has plenty of time to settle down and make a family if she so desires.
For now, however, Jenner seems very content to travel the world and to carve out an impressive career as someone who wears fancy and expensive clothes for a living.
It's a pretty great gig, we'd have to imagine.
And every now and then, when she's sick of wearing these clothes, she can just show a bit (okay, a lot) of nipple and get attention for a different reason.
Kendall Jenner know what she's doing, folks.
As for those recent gay rumors? Click below to hear what she has to say in response:

Rebecca Burger, a French fashion blogger with a large following on Instagram, was killed this week after a whipped cream container exploded and struck her in the chest.
She was 33 years old.
We know this sounds like an example of fake news, or some kind of Internet hoax.
But it is a true and sad story.
In a pair of messages posted Wednesday on Burger's Instagram page, which currently has more than 165,000 followers, the Internet star's family warned her fans about the dangers of pressurized capsules.
Burger's loved ones even uploaded a picture of a can similar to the one that hit Burger and ended her life, writing as a caption to the image:
Here's an example of the whip cream canister that exploded and struck Rebecca's chest, resulting in her death. Let us be precise: the siphon that cause her death was sealed.
Do not use this type of device in your home! Tens of thousands of these defective appliances are still in circulation
The family also confirmed Burger's passing, stating online that Rebecca died from an "accident in the home" on June 18.
The Associated Press reports that prosecutors are looking into the siphon that was used to create the dispenser in order to determine whether or not it was defective.
According to a French newspaper, Burger went into cardiac arrest following the incident, but emergency technicians on the scene were able to revive her heartbeat.
She remained unconscious and was transported to a local hospital… where she died the following day.
The 33-year old amassed an impressive viral following as she chronicled her life on social media over the years.
On June 10, she posted her first (and, sadly, last) travel vlog about a recent trip to Bali.
But Burger was mostly known for sharing workout tips, videos and photos on her Instagram page.
Ard’time, the manufacturer of this product, said the specific item Burger used had been pulled from the market and destroyed after an accident in February 2013.
It added that efforts had been made ever since to inform customers of potential safety hazards.
"Unfortunately, there are still lots of siphons of all brands that remain potentially dangerous as time passes," the company said in a statement after Burger’s death.
According to BBC, one person who was hurt by an exploding whipped cream container told RTL radio in 2013:
“I had six broken ribs, and my sternum was broken. At the hospital, I was told that if the shock and blast had been facing the heart, I would be dead now.”
Meanwhile, a 2014 press release by the French economy ministry warned individuals about the potential dangers of whipped cream dispensers.
"Since 2010, several models of kitchen syphons, also called cream syphons, have turned out to be dangerous and have led to domestic accidents," it read, adding:
"The explosions cause a high speed burst that can cause serious injuries to the hands or face."
This story has received global attention due to the unusual nature of Burger's death.
But that doesn't make her passing any less tragic.
We send our condolences to the loved ones of Rebecca Burger and we hope she is resting in peace.

Joy Villa made quite a fashion statement on the red carpet of the 2017 Grammy Awards.
By showing a lot of skin? By going with a bold color? By choosing an unusual hairstyle?
Nope, nope and nope.
The singer/songwriter did so by wearing a red, white and blue dress that has "Make America Great Again" written on the front and "TRUMP" written along the back.
As you might expect, the outfit earned Villa a great deal of derision on social media, with one Twitter user noting:
"Someone who calls herself a feminist in her Twitter bio is wearing a Make America Great Again dress to the Grammys."

Celebrity fashion is thought to be another dimension, but the love of Converse All Stars,, AKA Chuck Taylors, unites us all. Originally designed for men as a basketball shoe, women celebrities expanded the horizons of Converse and made the sneakers a unisex fashion staple. Best of all, they’re available on main street for us mere mortals.
According to research by Couponbox, the first time a female celebrity wore Converse on TV was Shirley MacLaine dancing on a piano in 1956 and the world has never looked back. Women celebs have been rocking the Converse sneaker for fifty years and show no sign of stopping soon. Converse have also become an essential item in our wardrobes and have been dubbed the trainers that look good on everyone. Here are four iconic female celebs who are rocking their Converse to help show you how your All Stars can make you look like a star in 2016:
Alexa Chung: Classic and Chic
Converse may have originally been a male sport shoe, but here Alexa is exuding a classic femininity. Alexa could pair this white ruffled blouse or any of her well-known floral numbers with All Stars to give them a cool edge. This is effortlessly chic and an easy way to jazz up a classic ‘girly’ aesthetic and shows you don’t have to be punk to rock Converse.
Kirsten Stewart: Traditional Rock ‘n’ Roll
Perhaps the style more commonly associated with the All Star, vampire goddess Kirsten Stewart demonstrates how the Converse sneakers perfectly tie together any punky aesthetic. To achieve a K-stew style, pair some All Star high tops with ripped denim and a casual plaid shirt and exude bad-ass style. If it’s nippy outside, throw on a leather jacket to complete the outfit. This is a look that can be easily created with minimal expense and make you feel like a rock star.
Gigi Hadid: Sporty Fashionista
Gigi Hadid is known for her love of sneakers and is a frequent ambassador of the All Stars. The monochrome aesthetic is on trend for this winter and would collaborate nicely with white Converse. The style icon shows how the sneakers could blur the lines between sports and fashion and there’s no reason you can’t don your gym outfit for a shopping trip.
Beyoncé: Timeless and Fabulous
Last, but certainly not least, who better than Queen B to illustrate that a sparkly Converse can jazz up any outfit and make you the star of the show. Beyoncé has been spotted in Converse in the past. When not performing, Beyoncé pairs her Converse with a tale as old as time – blue jeans and a white t-shirt. The sneakers are an excellent way to inject some glitz into a simple look. The sparkle adds excitement to even the most mundane of days and truly demonstrates Converse’s versatility.
Converse’s 100-year anniversary is coming up in 2017, and it has had an impressive journey. The sneakers effortlessly transferred across fashion trends throughout the ages, from punk-rock to preppy chic. This journey isn’t over. The legendary footwear comes in a variety of colors and styles, from pink canvas to black leather and everything in-between. There’s a Converse out there for everyone, just waiting to be found, and with all these possibilities you really can’t afford to be without them!
Starting from an early age, we begin looking at the fashion magazines and tabloids for our fashion inspiration. Celebrities are trendsetters and can easily start huge fads by wearing an outfit in public. Some of you may be left wondering how to dress in the latest trendy threads if you don’t have an A-lister’s bank account balance, so follow these tips to become fashion forward on a budget.
Prepare yourself to spend a lot of time shopping
Finding great deals on chic clothes is no easy task, and will take some time if you’re looking to buy great clothing. Make sure that when you go shopping you aren’t in a rush, and have enough time to sift through all of the racks at quite a few different stores.
Look in stores that you may have never been in, and don’t be afraid to browse at a store that doesn’t look quite like your style. Remember that if you’re only shopping at the most popular stores in the mall, and picking out the pieces the mannequins are modeling, you won’t be the only one wearing that outfit the next time you go out on the town.
Buy staple items first
Before you opt for that bright yellow dress with the large pink polka-dots, make sure you have your basics in line first. A few must haves are the basic white and black shirts without any embellishments, a classy blazer, and some great fitting jeans. These items can be dressed up or down depending on how you style them and should be the beginning of your wardrobe.
You don’t need to dress in all staple items at once, but it’s easy to throw a great ensemble together when you only have to worry about finding one statement piece. Decide on which staple item you’re going to wear and dress it up or down however you’d like using your more unique and flashy attire.
Learn to accessorize
Often times it isn’t the clothing that makes an outfit fabulous, but the accessories that go along with it. The great part about using this method to look like you’re red carpet ready is that costume jewelry is usually pretty inexpensive, and can help you style staple closet items in many different ways.
According to newlookus.com, you could glam up a head-to-toe sweat suit simply by wearing it with a pair of large and in charge earrings. Finding unique pieces of jewelry helps take any ordinary outfit and make it look more than glamorous. Don’t forget to use all types of accessories such as sunglasses, jewelry, scarves, and purses to spice up your look.
Learning to dress like a celebrity is no easy task, especially when you’re not equipped with your own glam squad and personal shopper, but it can be done. Learn to take your time finding the perfect pieces to complete your closet and finding new and unique ways to wear the clothes you have.
The Oscars happened a few month ago, but you can still find photos and commentary online about what all of your favorite celebrities were wearing. Some of the things that stand out among all of those gorgeous gowns are the gems that the movie stars wear around their necks, wrists, and on their fingers.
If you think that the gowns that they wear on the red carpet are expensive, you’ll be surprised to know that their jewelry is also well endowed. From diamonds to rubies and emeralds, you can find beauty on the necks of most of the women celebrities you love.
Who Was Most Notable?
The 2016 Oscars were home to some dazzling jewels. From Naomi Watts’ Bulgari diamond necklace to Olivia Wilde’s diamond choker., the diamonds truly stole the show. Many of them found on the ears and wrists of fashionable celebs as well, like Rachel McAdams shoulder length dangling diamond earrings and Julianne Moore’s diamond and white gold hoop-like earrings..
If diamonds aren’t a girl’s best friend then you might wonder why so many celebrity women chose to don the diamonds this year.
Do They Own Their Gems?
One of the biggest questions that many people have when it comes to those thousands of dollar necklaces, earrings, and serpentine bracelets, like that worn by Olivia Munn, is whether or not those beautiful gems are owned by the celebrities that wear them. Usually they aren’t.
While the majority of movie stars can easily afford their own diamonds, when it comes to award shows, jewelry companies and designers want their pieces to be seen on celebrities and they loan out, and sometimes give, their pieces to the celebrities to wear. That means free advertisement in every fashion mag for a good month after the award show airs!
Are They Insured?
Imagine “borrowing” a piece of jewelry from a store that cost three-thousand dollars or more, and then having it break or get lost during a wardrobe change. That money would have to come out of the celebrities pocket, and even though it might just be pennies to them, it still looks bad. Jewelry makers and companies tend to require celebrities to have insurance that covers any loss or damage to the loaned jewels.
There is a whole process that celebrities go through for this use of gems on the red carpet. Sometimes a designer approaches them, and sometimes they approach a designer they like. They have to arrange pickup, have proof of insurance, and also plan a time to return the gems.
This seems to be a lot of work for someone that could outright buy any piece of jewelry they want, but it’s worth the press for both celebrity and jeweler.

Remember when KFC came out with the Double Down Dog? Which was a hot dog wrapped in a piece of fried chicken?
Remember when we thought this was the end of the world as we knew it?
We no longer think this. Because KFC has gone ahead and outdone itself.
The food chain has expanded its business by coming out with its own type of nail polish.
Yes, you read that correctly: KFC has come out with nail polish. Did we mention that its edible?
Partnering with McCormick & Company - the flavoring giants who created the chicken chain’s 11 herbs and spices - KFC has created tastes that mimic KFC’s Original and Hot & Spicy recipes.
Just... you know... for one's nails.
"To use [the nail polish], consumers simply apply and dry like regular nail polish, and then lick - again and again and again," KFC explained to Adweek in a statement.
Makes perfect, gross sense, right?
For now, the item is only available in Hong Kong.
You can watch the following video to have a better understanding of how it works and what it looks like:
As you might expect, Original Recipe is somewhat of a nude shade, while Hot & Spicy has more of a fiery orange-red hue.
“It’s Finger Lickin Good,” reads the square glass bottles that comprise this product.
This seems pretty absurd to us.
Although... not as absurd as some of the stuff that have come out of fast food chains around the world, we suppose. To wit:
