Do These Things Every Day To Be Happier

Wake up early enough to give yourself pre-work relaxing time

If you’re anything like me, you wake up seven minutes before you have to be at work. Even though you may want to squeeze out every last bit of sleep you possibly can, this is unhealthy behavior that’s making you more tired and more stressed.

Studies prove that snoozing a million times per morning is making you more tired, not less. You’re getting superficial sleep that’s making your brain woozy, because there’s no REM to make you feel refreshed.

It’s also great to have time before leaving for work to sit with a cup of coffee or some breakfast and watch a morning show, if nothing else. It gives you something else to look forward to rather than just your typical routine, and makes each day a little more special.

Use your commute for the forces of good

Your commute, however long it is, is free time to do whatever you want or need. See some advice here.

Find things every day to be grateful for

Gratitude is a huge mood-booster for your life overall. It helps you stay focused on the positive rather than on the negative, and the best part is that it’s infectious. You can infuse other people’s days with gratitude by random acts of kindness, and you’ll feel great, too. Try keeping a list every day of things you were grateful for, and end each day with a smile on your face.

Know what you eat

As tempting as it is to order out each night, there are some studies that show eating in restaurants is as unhealthy as eating massive amounts of junk food. Take care of your body by reading labels, cutting out sugary drinks, cooking as many of your own meals as possible, and eating all the super foods you hate, like quinoa and kale. It’s better for you, I promise.

Drink water

Drink water, drink water, and after you’re finished drinking water, drink more water. The majority of Americans are chronically dehydrated because we guzzle alcohol and coffee. Balance out your bad habits with a good one, and keep yourself hydrated. Your skin, hair, nails and entire body will thank you when you’re not a shriveled prune at 39.

Optimizing your social media use

So many of us abuse social media to the detriment of our social lives and sanity. Find out how to streamline your use of social media and the internet without cutting it out entirely. You’ll be happier for it.

Pick your friends wisely, and work to keep them around

Your friendships are arguably as important as romantic relationships, but often, our friends fizzle out of our lives for so many reasons. Some people you’ll be glad to see go, and that’s normal. After all, you can’t stay in touch with every single fraternity brother or sorority sister, and maybe those people are just dead weight, anyway.

But friendships are of the utmost importance for a happy life. When you find people you want to be in your life, you have to make time for [...]

10 Times ‘Friday Night Lights’ Made You Cry

So, it took me far longer than I care to admit to start watching one of the best teen dramas ever made: Friday Night Lights. A month spent obsessively Netflixing fixed that egregious error, and now, I can’t ever look back.

In case you’re like me, and have lived under a rock since the show debuted in 2006, Friday Night Lights chronicles the ups and downs of a football coach Eric Taylor and his family, when he becomes coach of Texas’s #1 football team. It comes with a vivacious cast of characters who are as well-written as they are complex.

Oh, and two words: Tim Riggins.

This show, in all of its five seasons, alternately made me roar with laughter and weep with sorrow. Mostly weep, ’cause this show brings the feels.

If you’re a seasoned FNL fan, you’ll remember these iconic sad and touching moments.

1. When the paralyzed Jason Street comes to the football field for the first time since his injury:

Jason Street was poised to become the next great NFL quarterback. He was the best quarterback in America when he was injured at the opening game of the season and became an incomplete quadriplegic. His bravery was constantly an inspiration.

2. When Coach Taylor hugs Matt, and it’s like Matt has a father again:

*Sigh.* All Matt ever wanted was a parent to take care of him. And the Coach’s daughter.

3. When Tami Taylor gets the axe for helping a pregnant student:

Tami was totally wronged just for helping a pregnant student get an abortion, which Tami didn’t even advise her to do.

4. When Tim Riggins didn’t want anything else:

Alas, Tim and Lyla were pretty much doomed from the start.

5. When Matty had a full-on breakdown:

Matt carried a lot on his young shoulders, and it all bubbled up after his girlfriend dumped him and moved back home to Guatemala. That’s got to hurt.

6. When Tami gives Eric some big news:

Tami and Eric were the ultimate in #relationshipgoals.

7. When Landry (Lance?) saves Tyra from an almost-rape:

Another romance doomed from the start.

8. When Matt calls Julie after totally bailing on her:

As much as Julie Taylor grated on my nerves, she really loved Matt (who wouldn’t?) and she gave him an earful after he takes off for Chicago without so much as telling her.

9. When Coach Taylor had the best advice for a struggling Vince Howard:

Vince Howard, the unsung hero of the last two seasons.

10. When Matt’s father died, and Julie had to break the news to him:

Texas forever.

Lady Antebellum’s Charles Kelley & His Wife Detail The Fertility Struggles They Faced Before Expecting Their First Child

Lady Antebellum's Charles Kelley and his wife Cassie McConnell Kelley prove you should never give up hope.

As we reported earlier this month, the couple announced they were expecting their first child after years of struggling.

On Friday, Miz Kelley went on Good Morning America to openly discuss the battle she and her husband faced trying to get pregnant.

[ Related: Lady Antebellum Is Taking Some Time Off! ]

She emotionally says:

"I get choked up just thinking about it… We're thankful — blessed isn't a strong enough word. We were up against some incredible odds, and it still happened."

When the country star and his longtime girlfriend got married in 2009, they never expected having their first baby would be such an arduous task.

"I think when you're young, healthy and you're ready to start a family, you just don't envision there will be any problems doing that."

However, they soon realized the realities of their situation.

"My body doesn't ovulate regularly [called anovulation], which is problem number one. I also had a blockage in my Fallopian tube, which also happened to be connected to my dominant ovary."

Doctors even told the 33-year-old and the 32-year-old they had a 1 percent chance of conceiving naturally.

However, one day, their dream came true.

"The plan was to start IVF, but to our surprise and incredible excitement, I got pregnant in May and then found out we were expecting in June."

And get this… she not only knows her due date, but also the sex of their bundle of joy!

"I'm due in February, and we just found out that we're having a boy."

We are so incredibly happy for Charles and Cassie, and we applaud them for honestly sharing their story!
