Jimmy Fallon is Being Cancelled for 20-Year-Old ‘SNL’ Blackface Skit, Just 15 Months After Last Cancelling for Same Skit
If you were to hop on Twitter right now, you’d see #JimmyFallonIsOverParty trending. You’d also see #JimmyKimmelIsOverParty trending because people are confused about what late night host named Jimmy they’re cancelling today for having done a celebrity impersonation in blackface way more recently than you’d think. The problem, however, is that we just went through this last year for the exact same thing, Fallon doing an impression of Chris Rock on Saturday Night Live.
Yeah and Kimmel doing his Karl Malone impression is making the rounds, too, also from 20 years ago and we had cancelled him last year and the year before for it.
Fred Armisen must be sweating bullets right about now.
Not because he did blackface (he totally did like, all the time four years, though), just because one of his best-known SNL skits is built around a lazy pun like it’s a Mad TV skit or something.
I can’t do this every year. Alt comics in the late 90s and early 2000s did jokes based on ironic racism because they were pushing the boundaries of what was acceptable at the time, and that lead to network hacks thinking they could pull it off and Jimmy Kimmel might have dated Sarah Silverman but her comedic talent did not rub off on him.
I propose we pick a day and make it ‘Cancel Saturday Night Live for Doing Blackface Day’ so we can celebrate it and I don’t have to write a new article about it every time. I can just write a single article about the history of the day and republish it every year. We can have it sometime in the holiday lull between Christmas and Memorial Day and celebrate by cooking… what’s a racist food? Anything made by Paula Deen, I guess.
You might be shocked to find out that Carson Daly has a late night talk show on NBC. It’s called Last Call with Carson Daly and it’s been on at 1:37 a.m. since 2002. I think he thought he was going to get Conan’s time slot when he got The Tonight Show, but no, 1:37 a.m. is right where NBC wanted Carson Daly. Alas, all mediocre things must end, and so after 17 years and 2,000 episodes that were only seen in the green room of strip clubs that don’t have Netflix, Daly is hanging up the towel to focus on being the back-up weekend host of Today, which, to be fair, probably does get him more viewers that Last Call.
NBC has decided to replace Daly’s show with a new show called A Little Late with Lilly Singh starring popular YouTuber Lilly Singh. She does videos like this.
She announced her new show on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, and Seth Meyers came out to welcome her, too.
After all the talk about how all the late night hosts are straight white men, we finally have a bisexual woman of color hosting a late night show on one of the major networks at a time when absolutely no one will see it. I honestly can’t imagine this being a move up in Singh’s career. She’s one of the most successful creators on YouTube, she’s not going to be more successful than that hosting NBC’s “We don’t want to give this half hour back to affiliates so here’s a show with a $20 budget” slot. Which is not at all a knock on Singh; she’s at least as charming as Carson Daly. It just feels like maybe her aunt works at NBC and she took this job because her mom owed said aunt a favor.

Stopping by PeopleTV’s Chatter on Wednesday, Drescher, 61, spoke about a potential revival of the 1990s sitcom — saying that she’s on board for the project despite little interest from the current networks.
“I’m totally down with doing it,” she said. “I don’t know what is going on with some of these networks out there because they do not seem to be hip to the fact that there’s an obsession amongst millennials for the show and moi!”
Still, that didn’t stop the actress from revealing her dream cast member for the show’s unofficial revival.
“I wanna do a sitcom with Cardi B,” Drescher said. “Wouldn’t she be great as my daughter?”
The idea for the casting came after Cardi stepped out in September wearing a head-to-toe cheetah ensemble during Milan’s Fashion Week. Posting a photo of her outfit to Instagram later on, the “I Like It” rapper attributed her look to Drescher.
“I was so flattered,” Drescher said of Cardi’s outfit. “I just thought she paid homage to me wearing animal print and said ‘Fran Drescher.'”
“And then I got my juices flowing and thought, ‘Wait a minute, she’s from New York, we both have funny voices, she could be my daughter!'” Drescher continued, noting that her character’s daughter would not have her on-screen love Maxwell Sheffield as a father.
“Not from me and Mr. Sheffield, I would have to have a man of color. I’m down with the brothers.”
Fans have also expressed their approval of the duo working together on the revival.
After Cardi made an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon in December — where the rapper’s outfit and hairstyle heavily resembled Drescher’s on the show — Twitter users started begging for Cardi to be cast in the series, calling it the “best concept” ever heard.
“I need Cardi B to star in a remake of The Nanny,” wrote one user.
“Watched the clip of @iamcardib on Jimmy Fallon and this lewk, that personality and accent made me think she’d be perfect for a reboot of ‘The Nanny,'” added another Cardi advocate. “Am I buggin’?”
Please… Jesus… Let them reboot the Nanny wit Cardi B… PLEASE

While there’s been no official confirmation that the sitcom would be rebooted, Drescher previously said she and co-creator Peter Marc Jacob — who also happens to be her ex-husband — were in discussions to bring the comedy back to the small screen.
“We’re talking about it. Peter and I are talking about it,” Drescher said in June. “We’re working on a very big project. It’s going to be very exciting for the fans, but I’m not at liberty to announce it yet. But it’s gonna be big.”

The Nanny premiered on CBS in 1993 and ran for six seasons before its finale in 1999. The show followed Drescher as “Fran Fine,” a failed bridal shop worker turned makeup saleswoman from Flushing, Queens, who finds herself the nanny to British Broadway producer and millionaire Maxwell Sheffield’s three children.
Now celebrating its 25th anniversary, Drescher has said the sitcom has left behind a sea of loyal fans. “People really love that show,” she said. “It’s unreal.”
Sitting down with PEOPLE editor-in-chief Jess Cagle for the latest episode of The Jess Cagle Interview, the Tonight Show host looks back on his emotional marriage proposal — and reveals that despite his best efforts, the big night didn’t quite go as planned.
“I wanted it to be romantic and perfect,” Fallon, 43, recalls.
When Nancy, a Hollywood producer who worked on Fallon’s 2005 romantic comedy Fever Pitch, came to visit him in New York, Fallon was ready to propose that night — until she surprised him with a reservation at legendary restaurant Per Se.
“I didn’t want to propose in Per Se because what if one year it moves locations,” Fallon explains, “and years later I’m going to have kids and go, ‘Your mom and I got . I know it’s a laser tag place but at one point it was a very fancy restaurant.'”Watch the full episode of The Jess Cagle Interview: Jimmy Fallon streaming now on PeopleTV.com, or download the PeopleTV app on your favorite device.
The couple went on to enjoy their dinner at Per Se, but Fallon knew this wasn’t where he wanted to pop the question.
“Cut to 14 courses later,” Fallon remembers. “I was bombed out of my mind. Wine came with every course… So I waited another three months.”
His patience paid off, and the Tonight Show host’s dream proposal finally came together at Nancy’s parents’ summer home on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire.
“I went out to the dock and said , ‘Don’t cry. Let her cry first,'” he says. “I’m a pretty mushy guy… and I just wanted it to be perfect. I got down on one knee and I immediately .”
“She’s like, ‘Are you having a stroke?'” Fallon recalls. “My face was like I was smelling burnt toast.”
Fortunately, his emotional night ended happily.
“She said yes and we celebrated and it was fun,” he says. “The rest is history.”
The 25-year-old “God Is a Woman” singer swung by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday to promote her new album, Sweetener (out now), and explained that wedding bells were ringing in her mind when she first crossed paths with Davidson while hosting Saturday Night Live in 2016.
“I left his writers’ room when we were writing skits and stuff for the show, and my tour manager was in the hallway,” Grande recalled. “And I’m not a crushy person — like I don’t have crushes on people, I don’t know — but I left and I, like, jokingly said to my tour manager, ‘I’m marrying him. 100 percent. I’m literally marrying him.'”
Back then, Grande and Davidson, 24, “weren’t even friends,” and wouldn’t connect again until years later.
“We never exchanged numbers or anything,” Grande said on The Tonight Show. “But I had the biggest crush in the whole world on him the whole time, like forever. Like, my friends used to make fun of me for it, all that stuff.”
Coincidentally, Davidson felt the same way. In a new interview with GQ for the magazine’s upcoming September issue, he revealed that marriage was on his mind when they first met too.
“The day I met her, I was like, ‘Hey, I’ll marry you tomorrow,’ ” Davidson told GQ. “She was calling my bluff. I sent her a picture . I was like, ‘Do you like any of these?’ She was like, ‘Those are my favorite ones,’ and I was like, ‘Sick.’ ”
Their whirlwind romance has made headlines since, with the pair even moving into a $16 million apartment together in Manhattan.
So when will they officially tie the knot? Davidson told GQ they don’t really have much in the way of wedding plans — but the trip down the aisle is “definitely going to happen, for sure.”

Meanwhile, until then, Davidson has a special place in Grande’s heart and on her album.
“I thought you into my life,” she sings. “No better place or a time / Look how they align / Universe must have my back / Feel from the sky into my lap.”
She wrote the song just a week after they started dating.
“I just made it and I sent it to him, and I didn’t know what to call it. So I just called it ‘Pete,’ ” she said on The Tonight Show. “It was either going to be that, or ‘This Is About Pete Davidson.’ I was like, ‘Why not?’ You know? You should be direct.”
The conventional wisdom in television used to be that you don’t want to get too political or you’d alienate half your audience. Even last year when Arrow decided to get political and do a topical episode on mass shootings and gun control, the show explicitly refused to make any sort of statement towards one side or the other. Which is fine, but Green Arrow’s most defining trait as a comic book character is his outspoken left-wing political orientation. Still, even a show about the most explicitly political character in comics shies away from taking a political stance for fear of alienating its audience.
This “stand in the middle and don’t get too political” strategy has failed to pay off for Jimmy Fallon, as since the election of Donald Trump, Fallon has fallen behind Stephen Colbert in viewership, placing him second place in the late night ratings war, and just barely ahead of third-place host Jimmy Kimmel.
Critics of President Trump have been quick to attribute this to Fallon’s non-confrontational approach to having Trump on his show during the election, contrasted by Colbert’s broadside assault on conservatives, something he was famous for already coming from his long runs as a correspondent on The Daily Show and host of The Colbert Report. But is there any truth to the idea that it’s politics rather than personality that’s pushing ratings in late night?
Well, yeah, there is, and it’s the correlation with cable news ratings we’ve seen in the Trump era, as MSNBC is ascendant with CNN and Fox News declining, on the back of late night’s new queen, the increasingly detached from reality Rachel Maddow. Since the election, Dr. Maddow’s program has veered further from the solid, evidence-based reporting she provided in her Air America days and more into the neoliberal conspiracy theory territory trod by former British MP Louise Mensch and her ilk. Maddow’s turn to being the center-left’s version of Glenn Beck has rewarded her with the title of top rated cable news show, beating arch-conservative blowhard Sean Hannity in demographic viewership. Fox News still has the highest viewership numbers, but center-left MSNBC is the only cable news network to have a growing instead of shrinking audience.
One interesting note is that Fallon still holds an edge, albeit a much-decreased edge, in demographic viewership over Colbert, where Colbert actually decreased in viewership over last year. This means all of Colbert’s growth in the past year has been from viewers over the age of 50, as the younger viewers who left Fallon’s audience, nearly 300,000 of them, dropped out of watching late night talk shows altogether.
What this means is that, surprise, surprise, having a historically unpopular president means that a lot of people like it when you call him an asshole. Trump’s approval rating is lower than Gerald Ford’s approval rating, and Gerald Ford wasn’t even elected. Under normal circumstances, being apolitical is the safest bet, but in the current climate, Trump has managed to be so unpopular that the conventional wisdom no longer applies.
Even though Donald Trump is fond of saying the first 100 days of his Presidency were the most productive in American history, we all know that's, uh, NOT true...
But the good news is we've finally uncovered something where The Donald is actually setting record marks! And it's a YUGE success!!
George Mason University's Center for Media and Public Affairs just released a new study revealing that The Donald has had more late-night TV show monologue jokes made at his expensive in the first 100 days of his term than any other President has in their ENTIRE first year!
Probably not surprising... but at least it's record-setting!! Ha!!
According to the study, 1,060 punch lines were lobbed at The Donald during the first 100 days by late night show hosts.
As for specifics, Stephen Colbert has dropped the most Trump jokes, with 337 total. Trevor Noah is close behind with 315 more, and Jimmy Fallon (231) and Jimmy Kimmel (177) have put up respectable totals, too.
For what it's worth, too, the Trump family was also the butt of 97 more jokes -- which was more than all Democrat families COMBINED!
Congrats, Donald -- we finally found something that you're good at!!
The Center for Media and Public Affairs will keep a running tally through Trump's full term, and we can't wait to see where the final number lands!

The 41-year-old actress stopped by Hamptons Magazine‘s annual Memorial Day Kick-Off party on Saturday without her little ones, much to the dismay of her two young daughters, Olive, 3, and 2-year-old Frankie, who missed out on a chance at seeing “Uncle Jimmy.”
“He’s Uncle Jimmy. He’s the best,” Barrymore told PEOPLE of The Tonight Show host. “In fact, my daughter always calls, ‘Oh, you’re seeing Uncle Jimmy this weekend?’ I’m like, ‘Yeah,’ and she looked sad.”
The actress appears on the cover of Hampton Magazine‘s Memorial Day issue. Barrymore has been busy this past year, running a successful beauty brand, Flower; penning a book, Wildflower and debuting a new wine Barrymore by Carmel Road Rosé of Pinot Noir, which was served at the event on Saturday.
In fact, Barrymore, who recently split from husband Will Kopelman, has become quite the wine enthusiast and told PEOPLE that she worked hard to make her latest beverage the best it could be.
“I wanted something that had a really nice, dry finish, but that wasn’t lacking in complexity. Something that had a lot of fruit,” she said. “Especially strawberry and that peachy, apricot tone. That’s what I love in the rosés that I grew into.”
She echoed her statements to a crowd at the party, noting that she loves to make “easy drinking wines.”
“They should be beautiful and layered and thoughtful, but they should just go down easily and you should be able to drink a lot of it, and you should be able to not feel like crap the next day.”

…And she chomped on a burger to commemorate it!
The supermodel just keeps giving us reasons to love her!
During her first ever appearance on The Tonight Show last Monday, host Jimmy Fallon surprised her with a take-out from J.G. Melon, one of the now-21-year-old’s fave haunts!
“Eat clean to stay fit — eat a burger to stay sane,” Gigi says as she takes a bite of the scrumptious meal. However, there’s an exception: “I don’t do tomatoes.”
She also shared how BF Zayn Malik gave her a rather interesting gift for her birthday: helping her win $400 on a $15 blackjack table as they kicked it in Vegas.
Ah, Gigi, you’re the best.
More hot models!
Back in October, Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon severely injured his hand for the second time in six months after he took a tumble while swigging Jagermeister during an event at Harvard.
On its own, the accident would've hardly been newsworthy, but coming on the heels of rumors about Fallon's hard partying, as well as a bizarre incident in which he chipped a tooth last August, the fall prompted questions and concerns about Jimmy's drinking habits.
Shortly after news of Fallin' Fallon went viral, a rumor that NBC execs were planning to ask Jimmy to got to rehab during the show's next hiatus began to circulate online.
That didn't happen (as far as we know), but the fact that the network never came out and denied the reports led many to believe that some higher-ups were, in fact, worried about Fallon's drinking.
Yesterday, some of Fallon's bosses finally spoke out on the matter at a press event for members of the Television Critics Association, and their were comments were...confusing, to say the least.
“He’s good. He doesn’t have a drinking problem,” said NBC Entertainment chairman Greenblatt. “He goes out and has fun. He’s had some accidents. Aside from that, he’s in better shape than he’s ever been.”
Perhaps sensing that the crowd could detect the odor of BS emanating from his comments, Greenblatt added:
“Always, we are worried about his safety. There’s been conversations about that. The stories are exaggerated about this.”
So there you have it. Jimmy Fallon's not a drunk! He just has the occasional accident while he's "having fun," and his bosses frequently worry about his health and safety!
Yeah, we predict you'll tune in to see co-host Steve Higgins temporarily sitting in for Fallon sometime in the next year.
Jimmy Fallon and his girls are having a very sweet holiday.
Fallon, who welcomed Franny in December 2014 and Winnie in July 2013, wrote on Instagram that the drink was officially “a new family tradition.”

Serendipity 3 is known for its kid-friendly food, such as Peanut Butter Frrrozen Hot Chocolate and hot fudge sundaes with sides of peanut butter.
Fallon, 41, has gushed about fatherhood in the past, previously telling PEOPLE he’s constantly sharing photos of his children.
“You become that annoying guy. I said I would never do that, but now it’s like, ‘Wanna see a picture of my kids?’ I’m even showing it to the cab driver.”
No word on what the Fallon kids will be getting for Christmas, but the frozen hot chocolate is certainly a good start.

If you know anything about Jennifer Lawrence, you probably know about her unfortunate habit of tripping and falling on red carpets everywhere. She famously face-planted when climbing the stairs to receive her Oscar in 2013, and her clumsiness has not abated since.
J. Law’s frequent falls have endeared her to many, but others think that at this point, she’s just doing it on purpose. How can someone of her experience and status not know how to walk in heels? Apparently, this is a well-canvassed subject among Jen and her friends and co-stars, and she’s ready to set the record straight: she isn’t faking it, and she’s a hell of a lot more embarrassing than you even know.
On the press tour for the final film in the Hunger Games franchise, co-star Liam Hemsworth shared an anecdote about Lawrence tripping and falling twice on the same red carpet. He should know, because he was the one helping her up. Watch the video here:
In the video, Hemsworth describes a moment on a red carpet on which he was supporting Jennifer Lawrence after her heel broke. But when he saw a friend greeting him, he promptly let go of her, and down she tumbled.
Lawrence described a similar incident on an unnamed talk show, when she had just finished making it clear backstage that she didn’t “want to talk about” the fact that she falls down so much, and didn’t want to be asked if it was all a “schtick.” She then walked onstage in front of a studio audience—and then promptly tripped and fell. She made the producers edit the trip out of the show.
On that same episode of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Lawrence makes very clear that her frequent falling-down episodes are definitely not performed, nor are they even remotely the most embarrassing things that have ever happened to her.
We’ll let her tell you about the time she didn’t realize she wasn’t talking to the ghost of Elizabeth Taylor:
So there you have it: Jennifer Lawrence, America’s Sweetheart, Oscar-winning actor, and truly “terrible at walking.”
The post Jennifer Lawrence Reveals Her Most Humiliating Moments on ‘Jimmy Fallon’ appeared first on PopCrunch.
No, we did not need another reason to fall in love with Jennifer Lawrence.
We've got plenty of reasons to adore the Oscar-winning actress already.
But Lawrence was kind enough to provide us with another one on Wednesday night, appearing as a guest on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
Did she talk a bit about Katniss Everdeen and saying goodbye to this character after filming The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2? Yes, of course.
But whatever. Let's table that discussion for a moment.
Because Fallon also asked Lawrence if she had heard about this "infomercial that airs at 3 a.m. with these two people in it that look just like you and me."
Yes, Jennifer said. She heard of it.
It's an instructional dance video that features two people named Des and Dash, right?
Yup, right she is. And it turns out that Fallon had a copy of this commercial on hand. What luck!
You simply need to sit back now and check it out below.
How else will you see what insane outfits Fallon and Lawrence are wearing? How else will you learn the moves of such dances as peekabo-a-choo or the soon-to-be famous brow-brow-chicken-cow?
We have no idea where Fallon comes up with this stuff. But we're forever grateful that he does.
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are undeniably comedy’s best power duo. They’ve co-starred in some of our favorite and funniest movies (Baby Mama, anyone?) and have proven they can co-host award shows with grace, aplomb, and a huge helping of belly laughs. Because they’re the shining stars of comedy and can basically do no wrong, the two SNL alums will return to the show for this season’s holiday episode, one that anyone can safely predict will be an instant classic.
According to Vanity Fair, this season’s holiday episode will air on December 19. The show has a short history of bringing back old SNL alums for the holiday episode in an effort to draw a wider audience. The show, according to many, has suffered in terms of quality over the past few years, so bringing in ringers for a high-profile episode is a good way to appeal to old viewers. Something similar occurred when 2013’s holiday episode featured fellow SNL alum Jimmy Fallon.
SNL is also bringing out the big guns with their musical guest for the same episode. Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will perform on December 19.
SNL has booked some other excellent audience favorites for the holiday season. Ryan Gosling will make his SNL hosting debut on December 5, while Chris Hemsworth will appear for the second time on December 12.
That’s all well and good, but I personally just can’t wait to see Tina and Amy back in action!

After Jimmy Fallon’s second injury in the past few months, NBC execs are concerned and will intervene if it becomes necessary.
Radar was told by an insider that NBC Entertainment chief Bob Greenblatt and Tonight Show Executive Producer Lorne Michaels “have recently had several very frank and honest conversations about Jimmy. Lorne is extremely protective of Jimmy, obviously. Does Jimmy like to party and have a good time? Absolutely, and there late nights of going out with the crew after the show finishes taping, but it’s not every night.”
However, Fallon’s clumsiness is still causing concern.
In his recent drinking-related incident, which people thought might have been a joke at first, Fallon tripped while holding a bottle of booze and sliced his hand on the broken bottle, was helped up by the police, and screamed for more Jaeger until he was brought some. What a trashy drunk. Fallon was in Cambridge, Massachusetts, this weekend accepting the Elmer Award for Excellence in Humor from the Harvard Lampoon when his alleged college-freshman-style drunken antics went down.
However, a source close to Fallon insists that he’s fine and Jimmy Fallon didn’t go full on frat party mess. According to them:
“He was celebrating in the organized and planned Harvard Lampoon event in the streets and some girl kneeled down directly in front of him rather abruptly, just as he was turning around. He then tripped over her because he didn’t see her. When he tripped over the girl, he fell on glass. At the urgency of the police, who were on site at the celebration, he went to Mass General to be sure there was no glass in his hand. He was checked out, left soon after arriving and returned to the celebration at the Harvard Lampoon Building.”
Ok, but the mass of injuries are starting to stack up. Last June, Fallon almost lost a finger in a late-night kitchen accident. According to his rep, this was not alcohol-related, but that sounds like something a rep would say. After that, Fallon had to go to the dentist after he supposedly chipped a tooth while opening a bottle of medicine. These incidents, combined with the fact that he’s an infamous fixture on the NYC bar scene and notorious party animal, don’t really lay the kinda cookie crumb trail it would take Sherlock Holmes to follow. It looks a lot like somebody might have a problem.
And the sweetest red carpet moment goes to proud dad Jimmy Fallon.
The Tonight Show host kept his little ladies close to his heart at Sunday night’s 67th Primetime Emmy Awards at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
While speaking to Ryan Seacrest, the dad of two — who celebrated his 41st birthday on Saturday — showed off his adorable gift from all his girls: wife Nancy and their daughters Frances Cole, 9 months, and Winnie Rose, 2.
“My birthday was yesterday — longest birthday ever. Started in New York, flew to L.A. and the day didn’t end and it was fantastic,” he shared. “I got nice presents and they took me out and they sang to me.”
Dan Steinberg/Invision for the Television Academy/
Fallon then pulled out a small double photo frame containing sweet pics of his daughters.
“Look at the baby. They’re with me all day,” he said while giving a glimpse of his gift before joking, “This is the new iPhone.”
The foursome also feasted on a Fallon tradition: Carvel cake.
“Since I was a kid, my mom would get me an ice cream cake — my mom and dad,” he explained.
And if Fallon ends up taking home the award for outstanding variety talk series, he plans to use his time on stage to give her a shoutout — per her request!
“Oh, I gotta say hi to my mom because my mom keeps saying, ‘If you win, remember Jared Leto‘s speech. He thanked his mother!’ ” Fallon joked.

As we’ve already witnessed for the past few months, Donald Trump is making waves during these early months of the 2016 presidential election. With every snarky, inappropriate comment he makes, Trump’s numbers rise, somewhat inexplicably. Right now, it seems like Trump can do no wrong.
In fact, Republican presidential candidates now see Trump as their ticket to higher numbers, a larger platform, and therefore more exposure during this early race. Both the likes of Bobby Jindal and Carly Florina have “poked the sleeping dragon,” so to speak—criticizing Trump in an effort to rile him, get airtime, and therefore engage a wider audience of voters. Banking on Trump is seen as a sure-fire way to success, and now, Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show has seen the same effect.
Donald Trump appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Friday, Sept. 11th. The show opened with a skit in which Jimmy Fallon, dressed as Donald Trump, interviews the real Donald Trump in a mirror. The best line from that skit was, “Me interviewing me? That’s what I call a great idea.”
Besides that opening skit, Trump also used the appearance on The Tonight Show to talk even further about his platform and ideas, as well as what it means to him to be a New Yorker. The show aired on the 14th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, so patriotism and emotions were running high in the New York audience. Trump said, “There is a great strength and resilience we have in this country. We have amazing people.”
What’s truly amazing is that Trump’s appearance on The Tonight Show broke records, proving what we probably already knew: that people want to see and hear Trump speak in any medium. According to preliminary Nielsen estimates, Friday’s broadcast drew in a whopping 4.5 million viewers, the highest for a Friday broadcast since Feb. 28, 2014, which was shortly after Jimmy Fallon took over the show.
It looks like even the Tonight Show team is banking on Donald Trump to give their ratings a boost, just like every other television news organization in America right now. Giving Trump airtime gets ratings, because people just can’t wait to see what he’ll say next. But those who are less than fans of Trump will possibly be exasperated with the tendency of television to show Trump, because it gives him an even bigger platform, and an ever-growing following of loyal voters. Can Trump truly win the Republican nomination?
As the numbers stand at the time of publication, Donald Trump is leading the team of Republican hopefuls with 33% of the vote, with Ben Carson just behind at almost half (~17%).
The appearance on Jimmy Fallon has likely helped Trump even more, as it has helped the talk show.

Jimmy Fallon‘s antics never seem to get old… and Tom Cruise is the latest actor to join in his shenanigans!

He started out with The Weeknd’s “Can’t Feel My Face,” but kicked into overdrive come Meatloaf’s “Paradise by the Dashboard Light.”
“…I’m going back to high school, the parking lot on Friday night. The Jersey girls would sing all the lyrics and the guys would just sit there and sweat, hearts pounding. This is for all those Jersey girls and those hot summer nights,” Cruise dedicates.
Yep, still got that swagger.
More Tom here!

Hey, it's tough being on vacation!
OK, Fallon's injury was pretty serious, and while Seacrest's wasn't quite as significant that doesn't mean the two couldn't share a laugh comparing injury stories!
Ch-ch-check out the video (below) to hear how Seacrest injured his hand, and why he's comparing himself to Fallon:
See, it can be tough being on vacation -- especially when you have one of those swanky celeb suites! LOLz!!
Seacrest even snapped a picture of his hand on Twitter before-hand, so you've gotta hand it to the handsome host:
At least both hosts are A-OK, and everybody is healthy enough to laugh about it now!

Cara Delevingne made news this week for two very distinct reasons:
- She told The New York Times that her bisexuality is not a phase.
- She showed off some seriously impressive music skills on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
Oh, yes, Delevingne can drop a serious beat... with just her mouth!
See what we mean now.
Now, the talk show host is taking to Twitter from his hospital bed to give us all a quick update on how he's feeling! He shared this sad snap (below) of his hand all bandaged up:
But, he didn't just leave us with a vague caption and no explanation. In fact, he told us exactly what happened to land him in a big ol' bandage. He wrote:
Tripped and caught my fall (good thing)! Ring caught on side of table almost ripped my finger off (bad thing).

But, the funny man insists he's in good spirits, adding "#drugged #blessed" in another tweet. But maybe that's just the painkillers setting in.
We kid! Of course we were concerned for the 40-year-old! But, he's well aware how much love and support he's received from his fans, writing:
I'm doing well and thanks for good wishes everyone.

We're really glad you're doing okay, Jimmy!

Jimmy Fallon was hospitalized last night for an unspecified hand injury. This afternoon's taping of The Tonight Show has been canceled, and the comedian will reportedly undergo surgery sometime today.
TMZ is reporting that Fallon was spotted hanging out with fans at a Manhattan restaurant after finishing his show yesterday.
Sources say he went home around 9 pm, and the injury occurred at his apartment late last night or this morning.
At this time, Fallon's reps aren't offering any specifics regarding the nature of the injury, but they do say that he's expected to make a full recovery.
It's currently unknown when The Tonight Show will resume it's normal taping schedule.
Given the amount of money and coordination that's involved in producing even a single episode, if Fallon is forced to miss more than one taping, we'd say it's safe to assume his injury is fairly serious.
Fans of the comic know that Jimmy weirdly has a long history of effing-up his mitts.
In 2010, Fallon cut his hand when he fell while filming a an episode of Late Night. In 2013, he sported a bandage for several weeks after slicing his fingers while making salsa at home.
We wish Jimmy a speedy recovery for his own sake, but also for selfish reasons. If we have to go more than a few days without segments like thank-you notes and slow-jamming the news, we might go into withdrawal.
Channing Tatum has given us another reason to totally love him.
No, the actor did not name his penis again.
But Tatum did stop by The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon in promotion of Magic Mike XXL, taking part in kid theatre with the comedic host.
In the above footage, Tatum and Fallon act out scene from Magic Mike, but with a pretty big/hilarious twist:
All these scenes were written by eight-year olds who were only told the movie's title. So, as you might imagine, their version of Magic Mike was not a stripper.
He was a ... magic bike fixer guy?!?
Check out the hysterical Tonight Show clip above and you'll further understand why Channig Tatum is a celebrity dad we love.
Seth MacFarlane is certainly known or his impressions and voices that he can do and whether people know him by name or not, it is likely that they have seen his animated work.
Last night, he was able to share it with everyone as himself while playing a game with Jimmy Fallon, another master at the art of impressions. The two of them had great fun impersonating a variety of celebrities, some who they have done on occasion already.
The game operates when Jimmy Fallon presses a button that spins around and it will land on a random celebrity along with a random phrase. Each of them are supposed to give their best impression until the buzzer sounds and then they hand it over to the other comedian.
Tonight on the show: Playing Wheel of Impressions with @sethmacfarlane, Amber Heard is here, and music from @leonbridges! #FallonTonight

Seth MacFarlane is a genius at the art of impressions and throughout the 13 seasons portraying various characters on Family Guy, he has done more impressions than you can count. He is also known for Ted, A Million Ways To Die In The West and other animated shows such as The Cleveland Show and American Dad.
It is not often that Jimmy Fallon is able to invite a guest on to his show who is able to do impressions nearly as good as he does, but MacFarlane certainly gave it his best attempt, and his Liam Neeson impression to start it off was spot on. Of course, the Ted creator has also worked with Neeson on multiple occasions including his upcoming film, giving him plenty of time to get to know his voice as opposed to other celebrities.
Other impressions throughout the game included Fallon’s almost perfect Jerry Seinfeld impression, given the topic of Uber, having way too much fun with it, and later they did impressions of Pee-Wee Herman, Bobcat Goldthwait, and Ray Romano.
Seth MacFarlane and Jimmy Fallon are both excellent at impressions and there is no doubt about that. However, determining which is better can be a little tricky and we just hope that there will be another great round of impressions on another night of The Tonight Show.
