Some breakups are pretty amicable and the two parties remain friends.
But others? Well.... others are less than amicable.
Click through the following photos and stories to remember the splits that resulted in anger, bitterness and many mean social media posts:

On Thursday, which incidentally was the same day court documents with fresh evidence suggesting actor Johnny Depp abused his ex-wife Amber Heard surfaced, Depp said to crowds at the Glastonbury Festival in the UK, “When was the last time an actor assassinated a President?”
He first qualified the failed attempt at dark humor that is so characteristic of him by saying, “This is going to be in the press, and it will be horrible.”
If you knew it was going to “be horrible,” why’d you have to go on and say it, anyway? Oh, right, because you’re Johnny-freaking-Depp.
So far, the comment has not sat well, least of all with President Donald Trump who, just weeks ago, was the subject of another “joke” gone too far, when comedian Kathy Griffin posted a photo of herself holding what appeared to be Trump’s severed head.
The Trump White House has called Depp’s comment “sad,” and a White House official released this statement:
“President Trump has condemned violence in all forms and its sad that others like Johnny Depp have not followed his lead. I hope that some of Mr. Depp’s colleagues will speak out against this type of rhetoric as strongly as they would if his comments were directed to a democrat elected official.”
Additionally, the Secret Service has stated that it is aware of Depp’s comment, CNN reports. “For security reasons, we cannot discuss specifically nor in general terms the means and methods of how we perform our protective responsibilities,” a statement from the Secret Service says.
Violent threats against a sitting U.S. president, even if made in jest, are always shocking. But from Depp, who, if accusations by his ex-wife are to be believed, is a very violent man — maybe less so.
According to Heard, who, in 2016, produced a photo of herself with a bruised face, as well as some in Depp’s management team, Depp on numerous occasions kicked, hit, and threw things at Heard.
And he walked away from it all pretty unscathed, going on to star in blockbusters and, as one does, to attend British film festivals and threaten to kill the president. But, hey, of all people, Trump should know — “when you’re a star, they let you do it!”
Celebrity domestic violence occurs even in the most seemingly-stable relationships.
Hollywood violence knows no gender, age, or reason, and some of these allegations are gonna curl your toes.
Who dragged his partner with a car? Who beat someone's face in so badly she needed to be hospitalized? Whose own mother and sister accused this superstar, award-winning actor of physical abuse?
Things are about to get real deep and dark in here, so we hope you have a flashlight, a blanket, and a box of tissues, because ugh.
Also, hey, can someone remind these asshats that violence is never the answer?
That could be pretty helpful, all things considered.

Universal Pictures wants to belly up to the table with Marvel Studios and DC/Warner. Their plan? The “Dark Universe”: A series of monster movies that will fall under an umbrella. They plan to have actors appear in each other’s movies like Marvel and DC does. The list includes Tom Cruise and Johnny Depp. There’s even noise about bringing Dwayne Johnson aboard.
Cruise is going to be the canary in the coal mine, starring in a remake of The Mummy, because enough time has passed since the Brendan Fraser years. If that hauls in enough money, then full speed ahead. The movies will center around the Invisible Man, Dr. Jekyll, Frankenstein, and the Bride of Frankenstein.
At first glance, it’s not a terrible idea for Universal. We, as a country, seem to love franchises. There was the whole build-up to The Avengers, now DC is trying to do the same with Justice League, though without the whole “fun superheroes” part.
I don’t know if anyone has noticed, but Depp seems incapable of making a profitable movie unless he plays Captain Jack Sparrow
Yes, yes, we know… you’re supposed to be the antithesis of Marvel, but I remember even the super-serious Batman comics having at least SOME humor in it. People seem to have hope for Wonder Woman, but we’ll see. That leaves us with Universal’s gambit here with the “Dark Universe” series.
I don’t know if anyone has noticed, but Depp seems incapable of making a profitable movie unless he plays Captain Jack Sparrow. For some reason, I don’t think he’s going to be able to play Sparrow as an invisible man. “Ooooh. You can’t see me. You can’t see me!” “No. But I can hear you due to your incessant talking and drunken walking. You also keep knocking things over.” “Uh-oh.”
Also, the rest of the movies seem to be leaning heavily on older actors who might be past their “Carry a Franchise” expiration date. Quick, tell me the last hit movie that Russell Crowe, Javier Bardem, and Angelina Jolie starred in? This could be like a baseball team signing a bunch of aging players to enormous contracts based on their previous performances. You know, like the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim…
One thing that might help Universal – they aren’t going to have to have a huge budget for every movie. There’s no need to shell out the GNP of some small countries for each film. The problem is, if they do assemble these characters in a single movie like The Avengers and Justice League, there’s the risk of it turning out to be another League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and we know how THAT turned out.
Yeah, not even Sean Connery could save that flaming pile of garbage. Another problem: They might have to rename this whole thing since Warner/DC was thinking of doing a “Dark Universe” series of comics and Justice League movie tie-in. Oops. Well, we’ll see what Universal thinks up. This will probably wind up in the pile of “Good idea, wrong people, wrong time”. I don’t think Depp, Cruise, Jolie, Crowe and Bardem are going to mind, though. They’re going to get their money, no matter what. The rest will be left in the dark.
Can we please forget about Johnny Depp already?
He’s gone from a quirky and cool actor and artist to a banrupt weirdo that abuses women, can’t be bothered to show up or remember lines for the roles he gets paid millions for, and is just all around a fucking dick.
According to Pirates franchise screenwriter Terry Rossio, Johnny Depp was against being in a film with a female villain because they are redundant.
Because apparently banking off the exact same gay Keith Richards impression he’s been doing for ten years is fine, but female villains are “overdone.”
The Independent reports that Rossio said his Pirates 5 script was shelved for a bizarre reason.
“My version of Dead Men Tell No Tales [the US title for Pirates 5] was set aside because it featured a female villain, and Johnny Depp was worried that would be redundant to Dark Shadows, which also featured a female villain.”
In a world where half our most bankable stars are interchangeable buff white dudes named Chris, suggesting that a female character is a gimmick and there should only be one in the entire commercial cinematic landscape at a time is fucking dumb.
I really don’t want to hear about any more of Johnny Depp’s opinions.
During an interview with BBC, Chastain was asked about her line memorization technique, considering that it’s apparently so hard. Way too hard for Johnny Depp, who makes millions a film and has all of his lines fed to him through an earpiece like that one Spongebob Squarepants episode.
She replied that her technique is “working hard” and rolled her eyes so far back they probably tickled her brain stem.
According to Someecards, Johnny Depp’s method for nailing it on the set of Pirates 5 involved forcing hundreds of extras and the cast and crew to wait around for hours until he could be bothered to wake up.
I’m so over Johnny Depp.
The following actors should always be involved in hairy situations.
When it comes to their faces, that is.
Because while some men look disheveled and unprofessional while rocking a beard and/or a mustache, these men manage to look more distinguished and dapper.
Don't you agree? (Yes, it does help that they are exceptional human specimens to begin with, we acknowledge this.)

We've heard the rumors that Johnny Depp is broke, but we figured he was ... ya know, Hollywood broke.
Like, he had to limit bathing in calves' blood to once a week, or he was forced to fire his personal sock shopper.
Little did we know, that in order to finance his $30,000 a month wine habit, Depp has been reduced to glad-handing with fans at the Happiest Place on Earth, alongside a bunch of sweaty improv class instructors and guys who played a corps on Law & Order once.
We kid, of course.
Depp did pop up on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland yesterday, but not because he's hard up for cash.
In all likelihood, it was part of the studio's effort to promote Pirates of the Caribbean 5: F--k It, Let's Make Another.
But maybe it's just something that Depp does for kicks when he gets bored.
After all, getting black-out, dressing up like Hunter S. Thompson and shooting off large firearms indoors must get old eventually, right?
Anyway, Depp stunned fans of the famous attraction by popping out in full Captain Jack garb and remaining in character as boatloads of tourists passed him by.
Whether you love Johnny or hate him, it's an awfully cool thing for an A-lister actor to do.
Of course, if a movie role made us enough money to afford a freakin' private island (and a 30 grand a month wine habit), you would literally never see us out of costume.
Check out Johnny-as-Jack in the clip below:
Johnny Depp is trying to seal himself away from in his own private compound in the Hollywood Hills.
Depp owns five houses on a cul-de-sac in Hollywood and his dream is the buy the sixth and last house on the block, form a compound, and install a gate to its entrance so buses wouldn’t be able to gawk at his homes.
He doesn’t just want a bunch of houses, he wants to connect them all via underground tunnels, so he can fly from house to house without being seen.
The only thing standing in the way of this Depp labyrinth is the owner of the sixth house. Though Depp has reportedly done everything to get that house, they’re not budging.
What is Depp supposed to do? Go live in his house in France? It’s another sad Hollywood tragedy.
According to Johnny Depp, his financial management team, TMG, has royally screwed him over. According to TMG, Depp screwed himself over by living a $2 million a month lifestyle he couldn’t afford.
So, what’s real?
A statement from Depp’s attorney in the $25 million lawsuit battle reads:
“Mr. Depp did not sue his former business managers for his own personal investment decisions or the ‘financial distress’ they wildly allege — Mr. Depp sued them for fraud and multiple breaches of their fiduciary duty, among other claims.”
“Gaslighting the public with global press releases will not save the defendants in court from their gross misconduct set forth in the complaint.”
I don’t know. Johnny Depp does crazy shit all the time. It’s kinda hard to take the side of a guy that might have been beating the shit out of Amber Heard while spending $75 mil on houses, $14 mil on a yacht, and spending $30K monthly having fancy wines airlifted to his numerous chateaus.
According to Depp’s lawsuit, however, he’s suing them for paying themselves $28 million dollars of his money without his consent and forgetting to pay his taxes.
Probably everyone here is right in that they all are shitty and rich.
Back in September, several media outlets reported that Amber Heard was essentially homeless following her disastrous split from Johnny Depp.
That's probably an exaggeration, but it seems that Heard's financial situation was indeed pretty dire in the wake of her divorce.
Fortunately, if the latest rumors about her love life are true, we imagine she's not stressing too much about money these days.
According to the Daily Mail, Heard and Tesla/Space-X billionaire Elon Musk are an item.
"She was telling friends over Christmas how smitten she is with Elon," one insider tells the tabloid.
"They are already planning a lot of adventures together and she's relieved she can move on with her life," the source added.
"It's an exciting new chapter for both of them."
Yeah, we imagine dating a billionaire tech genius makes for a pretty exciting chapter.
When most people say they're planning an adventure, they mean they're thinking of taking a road trip next summer.
When Elon Musk says it, he might actually be talking about going to the moon.
Anyway, the relationship couldn't come at a better time for Amber Heard who's coming off a very 2016 2016.
Her high-profile divorce from Johnny Depp was one of the ugliest celebrity splits in recent memory, and it doesn't look like the battle is over quite yet.
Though Amber and Johnny reached a settlement back in August, the matter wound up back in court following a bizarre turn of events.
Amber announced plans to donate her settlement cash to charity.
When Johnny's offered to write checks directly to the organizations of her choice, she claimed that it was a scheme to secure a tax write-off, and now the entire $7 million is still in limbo.
Of course, that's chump change to Musk, who's reportedly been pursuing Heard (undeterred by the fact that she was married) since 2013.
Both parties appeared in the film Machete Kills around that time, but they didn't share a scene or meet on set.
Musk began emailing director Robert Rodriguez, claiming that he was "intrigued" by Heard, and asking him to set up a date.
Amber reportedly agreed to a casual, platonic dinner, but then stood the mogul up.
But we guess it all worked out in the end.
Things tend to work out in your favor when you have a few billion in the bank.
Remember when we thought the Johnny Depp-Amber Heard had been settled, and both sides would be able to move on with their lives?
Yes, it was a simpler time, when the world occasionally made sense, and Donald Trump was just a ex-reality show host with delusions of grandeur.
Looking back now, we realize what fools we were.
As you may recall, Depp and Heard reached a deal back in August.
Both parties agreed to the terms, and it seemed that one of the ugliest celebrity divorces in recent memory had finally come to an end.
Then, Amber announced plans to donate her settlement to charity.
It sounds like an innocuous enough plan, but her decision set off a new round of legal wrangling that shows no signs of letting up.
Many saw Heard's public declaration of philanthropic intentions as a bald-faced PR stunt.
Depp's team attempted to maneuver around it by offering to donate the cash directly to charity.
Heard's people saw this is as an attempt to make Depp look like the good guy and score a nice tax write-off in the process.
For reasons that remain unclear, Heard went on to demand twice as much money as a result of Depp's attempt to give to the charities directly, thus bringing her total settlement to $14 million.
It's tough to say who's right and who's wrong, but either way, the real victim here ... is the children.
No, but seriously, almost five months after the deal was reached the charities have only received one payment, because the issue has been tied up in court for the majority of that time.
Now, Team Depp is claiming that this whole situation is the result of Heard's desperation to stay in the spotlight.
("The spotlight" here meaning the tabloid headlines.)
Depp's attorney, Laura Wasser, described Heard's behavior as "a blatant attempt to extend her fifteen minutes of fame" and "an embarrassing grab for additional and unwarranted attorney's fees."
Harsh words, but there's a reason TMZ calls Wasser "the disso queen."
The reason is that Harvey Levin sucks at coming up with nicknames.
We like you, Harvey, and we hear you make a mean blueberry smoothie, but seriously, take that one back to the lab, homey.
Johnny Depp may or may not have been involved in the Angelina Jolie-Brad Pitt divorce.
There may or may not be a chance that Depp and Jolie actually hook up in the wake of the latter's split from her husband of two years.
But here's something we can say for certain about Depp:
He is most definitely NOT anywhere to be found in the first trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
Disney has given fans of this franchise its first look at the fifth installment of Pirates of the Caribbean, dropped a teaser that focuses primarily in new villain Captain Salazar.
He will be played by Javier Bardem and he has an oddly polite message to send Depp's Jack Sparrow in the following trailer.
(Sorry, Depp's CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow, we mean.)
But Depp's absence from the preview is notable for two reasons:
First, can you imagine Pirates of the Caribbean without Johnny Depp?!?
His Oscar-nominated portrayal of the big screen's most famous captain is the main reason why it found so much success in the first place... and why movies in this franchise continue to get made.
Depp will be featured prominently in the film, of course, but it seems like promotional suicide not to include him in the trailer.
This brings up to point number-two, however:
Is he not featured in the trailer due to the negative news that has been surrounding Depp for months?
In mid-August, Depp settled his divorce case with Amber Heard.
He gave the actress $7 million as part of the settlement and released a statement that seemed to admit to some bad behavior, most notably the part that read:
"Neither party has made false accusations for financial gain. There was never any intent of physical or emotional harm."
The resolution followed numerous accusations that Depp was physically and verbally abusive of his famous wife, often lashing out at her in drunken tirades.
One was even caught on film (by Heard) and it paints a very ugly picture of the veteran actor.
See for herself now:
There was even talk that Depp cut off his own finger during one of these tantrums.
So it's certainly worth keeping an eye on just how Disney and Depp handle this delicate situation as the release date for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales creeps closer and closer.
Will he make the media rounds?
Again, it would seem crazy for him not to appear on every possible talk show in order to promote this blockbuster.
But it also seems like his alleged history of domestic abuse would serve as a distraction as he did so.
In addition to Depp and Bardem, Orlando Bloom will reprise his role as Will Turner in the next Pirates of the Caribbean movie, while Geoffrey Rush returns to play Hector Barbossa.
New characters will include Carina Smyth, played by Kaya Scodelario; and Haifaa Meni, played by Golshifteh Farahani.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will be released on May 26, 2017.
CHECK OUT THE TRAILER NOW:
Can you imagine anyone other than Tom Hanks as Forest Gump? What about anyone besides Matthew Broderick as Ferris Bueller?

1. Michelle Pfeiffer, Silence of the Lambs
2. Al Pacino, Star Wars

6. Lindsay Lohan, The Hangover
Amber Heard would like to make something abundantly clear:
She is NOT behind the leak of a damning Johnny Depp video that went public late last week.
The actress, who is in the middle of a legal dispute with her estranged husband over his alleged abuse of her during their 15-month marriage, has released a statement just one day after ugly footage of Depp went viral.
It may very well change your opinion of the veteran star forever.
In the video (below), Depp is clearly agitated.
He's upset. He's angry. He's pouring himself a large glass of red wine and he's screaming at Heard.
The footage was filmed several months ago and it features Heard trying to understand what has Depp in such a state.
They aren't in the middle of a fight, Heard tells him, asking her husband how much he's had to drink and wondering what has him going off this way.
"Did something happen to you this morning?" Depp responds, while violently shutting cabinet doors and breaking glasses.
He seems to be implying that he has every right to be in this mood because something bad happened to him and she just doesn't understand.
This obviously isn't proof of the abuse alleged by Heard, but it doesn't paint Depp in a very positive light, either:
There's no doubt that Heard filmed the encounter.
Depp even comes across her cell phone in "Record" mode toward the end of the footage.
And this just makes Depp even angrier and more suspicious of his wife.
But Heard has now told E! News that she isn't the only who released this video online.
"I am not responsible for the release of the video. It was not what I wanted and I am doing what I can to force the media to take it off the internet," Heard says.
"I underestimated the toll that this difficult few months have taken on me, emotionally and physically, and the efforts made by the media to intimidate and discredit me."
"It is for that reason, and my desire to make the healthiest choice for myself, and hopefully for Johnny, that I am attempting to resolve this matter in the most private way possible."
Insiders close to Depp have told TMZ that the video in question is "heavily edited,” claiming there are portions where Amber is smiling and "egging [Depp] on."
Earlier this month, Heard said she had proof that Depp hit her, a startling allegation she first made to the world on May 21 of this year.
A judge recently postponed a scheduled divorce/domestic violence hearing between the stars until Wednesday in order to allow both sides more time to finish their depositions.
If the case does end up going to trial, E! News reports that Heard's witness list includes seven people, including close pals Raquel Pennington and iO Tillet Wright.
Meanwhile, Depp's list consists of 23 people, including his long-time girlfriend Vanessa Paradis, who is also the mother of his two kids.
Heard and Depp met on the set of The Rum Diary in 2011.
They got married in February of 2015.
While sparks flew immediately between the actress and the actor, a source told People Magazine that there was always something "toxic" about their relationship.
On May 27, Heard entered a Los Angeles courthouse with a black eye and filed for a temporary restraining order against the actor.
She claimed at the time that he had been both "verbally and physically abusive" to her throughout the "entirety" of their relationship.
The same source mentioned above explained to People that Heard's independent side and Depp's insecurities led to jealousy and serious dysfunction during their marriage.
"Johnny tends to get moody and difficult and go into himself when things aren't right in a relationship," this insider said.
"When he gets like that, he can act nasty. It doesn't made for a good marriage."
That seems to be clear. But did it make for a violent marriage? That's a different question.
And it's question that may soon be answered once and for all in a court of law.
What an ugly situation all around.
There's even more drama on the horizon for Amber Heard and Johnny Depp.
After details were revealed about Johnny Depp's huge list of witnesses, we're now hearing that Amber's witness list for her potential domestic violence/divorce case is drastically shorter.
If you recall, both Depp and Heard have been embroiled in a bitter feud ever since Amber alleged that Johnny attacked her on May 21,2016.
Since then, there's been conflicting reports about which one of them is telling the truth and it has resulted in a lot of past mistakes coming back to haunt them.
Amber had her domestic assault charge pop back up, while a family trip to promote The Lone Ranger came back to bite Johnny.
There really seems to be no end in sight for this warring former couple.
New information has been revealed that suggests Johnny has abused Amber in the past.
Amber allegedly has evidence of it and will use it in the event their bickering leads to a trial.
Amber's exhibit lists a 2014 picture of her holding pills, but what significance do they have to the case?
There's word that her lawyer will try and link the pills to domestic violence.
Amber's witness list includes her friend Raquel Pennington and Raquel's boyfriend, Joshua Drew.
Those two were allegedly present in the apartment the night Heard claims Johnny attacked her.
iO Tillett Wright would also be called to the stand.
Tillet Wright allegedly heard the whole incident happen while on the phone to Heard.
Amber's witness list does come as a shock.
Johnny's includes police officers, concierges and even security.

Some breakups are pretty amicable and the two parties remain friends.
Then there's the ones that just don't go down well and both parties throw jabs at one another on social media.
It can get pretty tiring.
We've compiled a list of some of the most bitter celebrity breakups in Hollywood history below:

2. Johnny Depp & Amber Heard

It's an unwritten rule that you should never, ever get a tattoo of or pertaining to a significant other.
While it's wonderful that you think the relationship will last as long as the ink, there's always a chance it won't.
Then you're left with a permanent memory of heartbreak, and that's just a bummer.
Such is the case for Johnny Depp, who changed the tattoo on his four fingers from "SLIM" to "SCUM" recently. It's believed that "SLIM" referred to his estranged wife, 30-year-old Amber Heard.
Depp is in the middle of a nasty divorce from Heard, who filed in late May.
The actress alleges that Depp was physically abusive towards her, and provided a few media outlets with photo proof.
Depp also blacked out a pin-up model resembling Heard.
This isn't the first time Depp has publicly declared his love via tattoos.
When he was engaged to Edward Scissorhands co-star, Winona Ryder, Depp got "Winona Forever" tattooed on his bicep.
After they broke up, he changed it to "Wino Forever."
Depp is currently jamming out with his band, Hollywood Vampires while divorce proceedings drag on.
Ryder recently defended her ex-fiance to Time Magazine.
"He was never, never that way towards me. Never abusive at all towards me," she insisted.
"I only know him as a really good, loving, caring guy who is very, very protective of the people that he loves. It's hard because I feel like that's my experience. And it's been a very long time."
Depp's ex-girlfriend, Vanessa Paradis - with whom he has two children - also came to his defense.
The French star wrote an open letter, obtained by TMZ, which praised Depp and denied any violence in their relationship.
"In all the years I have known Johnny, he has never been physically abusive with me and this looks nothing like the man I lived with for 14 wonderful years," Paradis wrote.
Johnny Depp is no stranger to getting tattoos, but there's at least one on his body that is unacceptable -- and he went and made a change to it that tells a BIG story!
Last year, on his right knuckles, the actor inked the letters "SLIM" -- Amber Heard's nickname -- as a nod to his then-love (inset, above).
But after everything's gone to hell the last few months, it seems like everything has changed!
TMZ is reporting that Depp changed the 'L' in SLIM to a 'C,' and the 'I' to a 'U.'
What's that give us?! SCUM!
There's a lesson here -- be careful what you ink on your body. Because now Johnny has 'SCUM' blasted across his knuckles...

Last week, it was widely reported that Johnny Depp was hiding out on his private island and planned to continue doing so until the controversy surrounding his ugly divorce from Amber Heard begins to subside.
So you can imagine our shock when Depp popped up in LA this week sporting a hipstery new 'do and hanging with comic Doug Stanhope and Taylor Swift songbook interpreter Ryan Adams.
Depp's return to LA isn't even the most surprising thing about this photo.
Rather, it's the fact that he's hanging out with Stanhope, who's been a magnet for bad press throughout Depp's divorce, in part due to some remarkably asinine comments he made in a blog post that was later published on The Wrap.
As you may recall, the boozy, cultishly adored comic (whose age is unknown according to Wikipedia!) was one of the many celebs who rushed to Depp's defense in the days after Heard's domestic violence accusations went public.
Stanhope took things a step further than the rest, accusing Heard of blackmail in a scathing takedown.
In a recent interview with Howard Stern, Stanhope clarified that he didn't choose the headline "Johnny Depp is Being Blackmailed By Amber Heard - Here's How I Know," but that doesn't change with the fact that it fit the article that followed just fine.
Several media outlets have described Stanhope as Depp's "best friend," a title that formerly belonged to the ghost of Hunter S. Thompson who's been known to visit the actor while he's in the throes of the D.T.s.
Tim Burton remains unable to transcend his "Morrissey-loving goth who gets to sit at the cool kids' table" status.
Anyway, sources say Depp not only posed for photos but jumped on stage at the famous Comedy Store on Sunset Blvd., thus confirming that he has zero f--ks to give about negative press.
Is he a modern day pirate with swagger to spare, or a wet-brained, tone deaf star who's blissfully unaware that he's in the midst of a potentially career-ending controversy.
You be the judge.
All we really be sure of at this point is that Johnny may have pulled off the impossible by beating out Ryan for the Dumbest Hipster Haircut in the Photo award.
A prestigious honor.
The Johnny Depp and Amber Heard divorce has been one of the ugliest and most divisive in history.
Of course, this is to be expected after the scathing domestic abuse allegations Heard has lodged against Depp.
While Heard has accused Depp of physically abusing her on a number of occasions, Depp claims that his ex has conjured up these claims in a play to get more money out of the divorce settlement.
In fact, comedian Doug Stanhope, a close friend of Depp's, accused Heard of blackmailing the actor for a juicy settlement. (Heard has since filed a defamation lawsuit against Stanhope for his allegations.)
But sources close to Heard say money is the farthest thing from her mind, according to a new report by TMZ.
According to the site, Heard's top concern is protection from Depp, and that a cash grab is "the lowest priority" in this entire debacle.
The estranged couple's legal teams have been negotiating a settlement, with the last offer coming from Depp's camp.
He has offered spousal support of about $50,000 per month for eight months.
Heard has not yet responded to the offer, which some assume means she's holding out for more money.
However, sources say the reason she has yet to react to the offer is because it comes with a rider that Heard takes issue with.
The offer reportedly includes a mutual restraining order, which Heard will not allow since she was the one subjected to the abuse.
Heard has supplied photos of her bruises to the court as well as text messages to Depp's assistant Stephen Deuters that appear to confirm past instances of abuse.
Deuters rushed to his employer's defense, claiming that he never sent the texts and the screenshots were doctored.
Unfortunately for Depp, an expert has authenticated the text messages as real.
With each day that's passed since Amber Heard filed for divorce from Johnny Depp, a new, more heated story has emerged.
Heard accused Depp of committing acts of domestic violence against her in their marriage, and a number of his friends and associates have rushed to his defense.
In a scathing counter-allegation targeted at Heard, comedian Doug Stanhope accused the actress of trying to blackmail Depp in hopes of a juicy divorce settlement.
Stanhope, a close friend of Depp's who claimed he was with the couple on the day of the alleged abuse, paints Heard in a malignant light.
"Amber was now going to leave him, threatening to lie about him publicly in any and every possible duplicitous way if he didn’t agree to her terms," Stanhope wrote in a column for The Wrap.
Heard is not taking the accusations lightly.
She has now filed a defamation lawsuit against the comic, claiming everything he said in the article was false.
An attorney for Heard gave a statement to E! News:
"The Complaint alleges that Stanhope is a close friend of Johnny Depp and, as part of a coordinated effort, wrote a highly defamatory article about Ms. Heard, filled with completely false, highly defamatory and very hurtful statements.
"Ms. Heard seeks the maximum possible jury award, and will donate 100 percent of the proceeds from the lawsuit to Chrysalis, a domestic violence shelter in Arizona, in an effort to counter the setback made to women by the defendants' defamatory article and related wrongful acts."
ln addition, court documents state the following:
"Defendants are engaged in a classic case of 'attacking the victim,' in an effort to discredit Heard, destroy her good name and reputation, and severely harm her hard-earned entertainment career, on top of the campaign of violence that Depp has inflicted upon her for years."
This new development is the latest in a string of he said-she said accounts in which one party accuses the other of lying.
Earlier this week, leaked text messages from Heard to Depp's assistant Stephen Deuters revealed a conversation that seemed to confirm an abusive incident from two years ago.
But shortly after the leak, Deuters claimed no such texts existed and he was not aware of any abuse in the marriage.
The only thing we know for sure in this case is that someone is lying, but at this juncture, it's impossible to know who.
While friends and fans are all taking sides in the matter, the fact remains that the only people who know what truly happened are Heard and Depp.
On Friday, Amber Heard requested a restraining order against Johnny Depp, claiming that her estranged husband had violently assaulted her and left her with facial bruising and other injuries.
Several of Depp's high profile friends and exes expressed their skepticism about Heard's version of events, with some even going so far as to accuse the actress of blackmailing Depp.
Heard's attorneys responded by issuing a statement indicating that Heard plans to file assault charges against Depp.
Her legal team now claims that she had only declined to do so on the night of the alleged attack in hopes of protecting "her privacy and Johnny's career."
Now that Depp's team has publicly accused her of lying, however, it seems that all bets are off.
Not only will Heard be filing a police report that could result in serious criminal charges for the 52-year-old actor, her lawyers have claimed that the attack that took place last week (during which Depp allegedly struck Heard in the face with an iPhone) was not an isolated incident.
So perhaps it's no coincidence that sources supporting Heard have started coming forward with shocking allegations about Depp's brutish behavior throughout the 15-month marriage:
“Johnny has been drunk for most of their relationship. He often wakes up drinking and he does not stop until he blacks out,” an insider close to the couple tells Radar Online.
Just two months after Depp married Heard, he was photographed with a cast on his hand that was reportedly the result of an accident on set.
The source claims that was merely a story cooked up by Depp's agency, and the reality of the situation was much darker:
“The real reason Johnny broke his hand is because he tried to hit Amber and he hit a wall instead!” the insider says.
“Johnny can be dangerous and unpredictable when he is drinking, and he was often drinking when they were together.”
In court documents, Heard claimed that Depp was "barely ever sober" over the course of their marriage, and she filed a restraining due to her fear of what he may be capable of while intoxicated:
“Amber was legitimately afraid for her life," says the source.
"The only reason that she is even taking legal action now is because she really believes that she was in danger."
Through her attorney, Amber Heard has responded to those who think she's made up her accusations of abuse against Johnny Depp.
Heard took the celebrity gossip universe by shocking storm last week when she first filed for divorce from Depp... and then asked for an order of protection against the actor.
The actress claims she feared for her life as a result of Depp's physical confrontations, showing up in court with facial wounds she says stemmed from Depp hurling an iPhone at her.
In light of these allegations against one of Hollywood's biggest stars, many celebrities have chosen sides.
See the gallery below for an idea of which big names have said what about the scandal.
But no one has been more outspoken than comedian Doug Stanhope.
Over the weekend, The Wrap published an article by Stanhope titled "Johnny Depp is Being Blackmailed By Amber Heard - Here's How I Know."
So... how does he supposedly know?
Because Stanhope says he was actually with the couple on the day of the alleged iPhone throw and that Heard was "threatening to lie about [Depp] publicly in any and every possible duplicitous way if he didn’t agree to her [divorce terms]."
In other words, Stanhope says simply, Heard is blackmailing Depp with this accusation of abuse.
In response to the claim, Heard's lawyer, Peter Sample, says via statement that the The Wrap printed "outrageous and defamatory false claims" about the actress in Stanhope's guest column.
Demanding a retraction, Sample added:
"The foregoing allegations against Ms. Heard are absolutely and unequivocally false."
On May 23, Heard filed a divorce petition.
In the legal document, she cited irreconcilable differences as the basis for the divorce and asked for spousal support from Depp.
Subsequently, on Friday, Heard wrote in court papers that she was abused by her husband throughout their four-year relationship and 15-month marriage.
On the day Heard was granted her temporary domestic violence restraining order, Depp's divorce attorney (Laura Wasser) alleged in her own court papers that Heard's domestic abuse claims are monetarily motivated.
"Amber is attempting to secure a premature financial resolution by alleging abuse," Wasser said.
"Her current application for a temporary restraining order along with her financial requests appears to be in response to the negative media attention she received earlier this week after filing for divorce.
"Yet Johnny cannot protect himself or Amber from media scrutiny, and Amber's anger certainly cannot drive this dissolution proceeding."
Hollywood's messiest divorce is not going away anytime soon.
Last Friday, Amber Heard, 30, filed for a restraining order from Johnny Depp, accusing him of domestic abuse.
Welp, things are getting more complicated, because a new source alleges that Heard - who is bisexual - has been spending a lot of time with British model Cara Delevingne, 23.
"Amber’s friendship with Cara, which grew closer and closer over time, brought about the beginning of the end for her marriage to Johnny,” a source told The Sun.
“They used to party together a lot and made no attempt to hide the fact that they were quite flirty.”
The 23-year age difference between Depp and Heard was never more apparent than when she hung out with younger friends.
Depp finds Delevingne "obnoxious and disrespectful and would ask his staff to warn him when she was going to be around,” the source added.
“He didn’t like quite a few of Amber’s friends, but he took a particular dislike to Cara… It was the friendship with her that really started to drive him insane.”
“Amber always made her bisexual tendencies quite obvious, but that would spark furious rows with Johnny, who hated how indiscreet she was being… On one occasion he even screamed at her, ‘You’re making a fool of me.”‘
Heard filed for divorce from Depp last week, just a few days before claiming he hit her with his eye phone.
It was a shocking allegation to some of Depp's nearest and dearest, particularly his ex-girlfriend, Vanessa Paradis.
"In all the years I have known Johnny, he has never been physically abusive with me and this looks nothing like the man I lived with for 14 wonderful years," Paradis wrote in a letter obtained by TMZ.
Not so, according to Heard.
“He has a short fuse,” the actress claimed.
“He is often paranoid and his temper is exceptionally scary for me as it has proven many times to be physically dangerous and/or life threatening to me.”
As Johnny Depp continues to tour Europe with his rock supergroup, the Hollywood Vampires, the drama surrounding the shocking abuse allegations from Amber Heard continues to intensify.
As new details about Heard's claims emerge, Hollywood seems split over whether or not to believe the actress' testimony about Depp's violent drunken rages.
Several celebs have shared their belief that publicly expressing skepticism regarding Heard's version of events amounts to victim-shaming and contributes to a culture in which abused women are afraid to come forward.
Others believe that some of the sketchier aspects of Heard's story (such as the fact that she never told police that he smashed his iPhone on her face, as she later told a judge) provide ample reason to be skeptical.
One famous figure who's not the least bit ambivalent about the situation is the beloved comedian Doug Stanhope.
Over the weekend, The Wrap published a guest column by Stanhope titled "Johnny Depp is Being Blackmailed By Amber Heard - Here's How I Know."
Needless to say, the comic doesn't exactly beat around the bush in his take on Heard and Depp's domestic drama.
Stanhope says that he and girlfriend Amy "Bingo" Bingham were at Depp's home on the day that the alleged abuse took place.
He claims that Depp was in a "dour mood," which they initially chalked up to the death of his mother.
When Depp revealed, however, that Heard's behavior was the cause of his depression, Stanhope was apparently not surprised:
"Amber was now going to leave him, threatening to lie about him publicly in any and every possible duplicitous way if he didn’t agree to her terms," Stanhope writes.
"Blackmail is what I would imagine other people might put it, including the manner in which he is now being vilified.
"Bingo and I together, and then separately, told him how much we were aware of this manipulative a–hole, how his closest circle had all agreed on this since the day we met and that we all feared that telling him outright might alienate us all.
"Love makes you do funny things...Other people came in and out during the afternoon, all verifying that we’d been cowardly, saying things only behind his back for so long.
He seemed dumbstruck that nobody had ever come clean about this and he thanked everyone for being honest. He still pronounced his love for Amber but was presciently aware that she was going to pull off some kind of ruse to f— him over.
"He hadn’t slept in days with anxiety. You’d call him a paranoid if you didn’t know better. But he knew better and he was right."
Stanhope concludes the piece with the surprising claim that he's certain Depp is not guilty of the abuse alleged by Heard:
"Johnny doesn’t abuse anyone. And he told me that day ahead of time that she’d pull some kind of s— like this. Johnny Depp got used, manipulated, set up and made to look like an a–hole. And he saw it coming and didn’t or couldn’t do anything to stop it."
Regardless of where one falls on this issue, there's no denying that the situation is far more complex than it initially seemed.
This week, Johnny Depp was accused of some pretty despicable crimes by his estranged wife Amber Heard.
The actress claimed he abused her numerous times, leading her to file for divorce and obtain a restraining order against Depp.
But Depp's first wife, Lori Anne Allison, has now come forward to defend her ex-husband.
Allison, who wed Depp when he was 20 and stayed married to him from 1983 to 1985, claimed he was a "soft person" who never laid a hand on her, according to TMZ.
She remembers the kind manner in which he treated animals, claiming he was more affectionate with his dog than many folks are with their children.
Allison tells friends she doesn't believe Heard's accusations.
Though their two-year marriage ended years ago, Allison and Depp remain friends and she reportedly offered her condolences last week upon hearing about the death of her ex's mother.
While Allison refuses to believe her ex-husband is capable of domestic abuse, much can happen in 30 years.
Heard has claimed that Depp's use of cocaine and alcohol led him to become violent and aggressive.
In a statement to the court, she said Depp was "barely ever sober" and revealed disturbing details about the alleged abuse, which made her fear for her life.
During one particularly brutal episode, she claimed Depp hurled a "magnum size bottle of champagne at the wall and a wine glass" on her and on the floor.
"Johnny then grabbed me by the shoulders and pushed me onto the bed, blocking the bedroom door," she continued.
"He then grabbed me by the hair and violently shoved me to the floor."
Depp has not commented since Heard's allegations became public, but the day prior his rep issued a statement, saying he "will not respond to any of the salacious false stories, gossip, misinformation and lies about his personal life."
Yesterday, we learned that it was splitsville for Johnny Depp and Amber Heard.
Heard filed for divorce from Depp just 15 months after they were married, and just days after the passing of his mother, Betty Sue Palmer.
Now, Depp is the first to speak publicly about the news.
"Given the brevity of this marriage and the most recent and tragic loss of his mother, Johnny will not respond to any of the salacious false stories, gossip, misinformation and lies about his personal life," read a statement given by the Depp's rep.
"Hopefully the dissolution of this short marriage will be resolved quickly."
False stories, gossip, misinformation and lies - oh, my!
There are so many to choose from.
Earlier today, Radar Online reported that the reason for the split was Heard's desire to have children, which Depp did not support.
Sources say he felt he was too old to be a new father.
“Johnny and Amber were at odds with each other because she wanted a baby, but he didn’t want to be an old dad,” revealed a source.
“Johnny was slightly open to the idea of adopting a kid that’s 8 or 9, but Amber wants a child that’s hers," added the insider.
Other chatter in the gossip mill suggests that the pair just couldn't stand each other.
"Because of their strong personalities they do not always see eye to eye," claimed another source.
"They are both stubborn and overly dramatic, which doesn't help when they disagree."
We're sure there shall be more juicy rumors to come. Stay tuned!

Finally! The third trailer for Disney’s long anticipated Alice Through the Looking Glass has arrived, an extremely short, eight-second video that doesn’t show viewers much of the characters, plot, or graphics. But there’s some cool evil laughing, and ominous clock ticking!
The new movie, the sequel to 2010’s Alice in Wonderland, features many familiar faces. Mia Wasikowska is returning as the titular character. Helena Bonham Carter is also returning as the Red Queen, and of course, Johnny Depp will reprise his role as the Mad Hatter. Anne Hathaway will also return as the White Queen, while Alan Rickman will once again lend his voice to the Blue Caterpillar.
The sequel comes a full six years after the first installment, and will follow Alice going back in time to save the Mad Hatter from some unknown peril. According to IMDb, there will also be a nefarious plot to restore the Red Queen to power:
When Alice wakes up in Wonderland she must travel through a mysterious new world to retrieve a magical scepter that can stop the evil Lord of Time before he turns forward the clock and turns Wonderland into a barren, lifeless old world. With the help of some new friends, Alice must also uncover an evil plot to put the Queen of Hearts back on the throne.
Earlier this week, Disney released the first two teaser trailers for the movie, and they’re all under 10 seconds. Watch them here:

"Wes Craven was the guy who gave me my start, from my perspective, for almost no reason in particular. I read scenes with his daughter when I auditioned for the part. At the time, I was a musician. I wasn't really acting. It was not anything very near to my brain or my heart, which is pretty much how it remains to this day."
