I’m not a lawyer, so I don’t know the ins and outs of the legal system, but from what I have gathered, the American legal system is vastly superior to the British legal system. For starters, judges don’t wear those dumb powdered wigs in America.
The latest ruling in Johnny Depp’s libel trial against The Sun for calling him a “wife-beater” kind of confirms my suspicions. According to Variety, Depp’s appeal was denied by the same judge who presided over the original trial and feels he couldn’t have possibly made a mistake.
In last week’s ruling, the judge wrote: “The findings of fact by a first instance tribunal (particularly one, such as myself, who has heard oral evidence) are rarely open to challenge on appeal. In any event, I do not consider that the proposed grounds of appeal have a reasonable prospect of success (and that is also the case so far as the grounds of appeal suggest that I erred in principle or in law) and there is not some other compelling reason why permission to appeal should be granted.”
That’s like letting a high school student grade their own paper. Who had the idea to let judges review their own cases for appeal?
Apparently, Depp can still ask the Appeals Court to hear his case, but why on Earth does the judge from the original trial have any input into if his decision should be appealed?
I can’t imagine this judge had any sort of bias but he did seem to weigh Amber’s Heard’s testimony over all the other evidence, going as far to say that recordings of Heard admitting to being physically violent towards Depp were not as important as her testimony during the trial, nor was the testimony of all of the other witnesses who seemingly took Depp’s side. If that’s the way the British legal system is supposed to operate, it’s not just the miserable weather that should make people think twice about moving there.
I’m still somewhat in shock that Johnny Depp lost his libel case against the Rupert Murdoch-owned tabloid The Sun for calling him a wife-beater. It seemed like Amber Heard said one thing, everyone else familiar with what went on said another thing, they played tapes of Amber Heard admitting she was violent towards Depp and telling him to be less of a pussy and asking him if he really wants everyone to know he got beat up by a girl and the judge heard all that and said “well, why would Amber Heard lie?” before ruling against Depp.
This was swiftly followed by news that Depp was asked by Warner Brothers to step down from Pirates of the Caribbean and the Harry Potter prequel series Fantastic Beasts.
Not surprisingly, behind the scenes, Depp asked why Heard, who we all heard admit to being violent, was not asked to leave Aquaman 2. It’s a fair question, honestly, especially since public sentiment remains firmly on the side of Johnny Depp and against Amber Heard.
Metro quoted a number of entertainment lawyers who agreed that losing this trial would mean the end of Depp’s career because of the bad press and reputation it generated for him. I would like to know what planet these people have been living on.
Setting aside that Depp is still winning the PR war despite losing, I’d like to remind everyone that Chris Brown still has a career after pleading guilty to domestic assault. And Mel Gibson is in that truly strange Christmas movie.
I think it’s premature to be chiseling a tombstone for Johnny Depp’s career at this point. Plenty of people have come back from worse spots than the one Depp is in. If Sleepy Hollow didn’t end his career, nothing will.

In a somewhat shocking ruling, the judge in Johnny Depp’s defamation lawsuit against The Sun ruled against Depp. I didn’t really expect Depp to win, but I expected that ruling because The Sun’s headline calling him a “wife-beater” was protected regardless of if it was true but instead High Court Judge Andrew Nicol ruled that the things Amber Heard said about Depp were true.
I honestly find it hard to believe Depp would be stupid enough to bring this lawsuit if he had actually done the things he was accused of by Heard and repeated by The Sun.
The most shocking thing to me, personally, is Nicol’s opinion that Heard’s admission that she physically assaulted Depp carried no weight.
In my view no great weight is to be put on these alleged admissions by Ms Heard to aggressive violent behaviour. It is trite to say, but nonetheless true, that these conversations are quite different to evidence in court. A witness giving evidence in court does so under an oath or affirmation to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Questioning can be controlled by the judge. Questions which are unclear can be re-phrased. If a question is not answered, it can be pressed (subject to the court’s control) and if still unanswered may be the proper object of comment. None of those features applied to these conversations which, in any event, according to Ms Heard had a purpose or purposes different from simply conveying truthful information.
He also believed Amber Heard’s story that a tiny dog did a human-sized poo in Depp’s bed.
For what it is worth, I consider that it is unlikely that Ms Heard or one of her friends was responsible. Mr Depp had left that night for his property in Sweetzer. As long as he was away, it was Ms Heard who was likely to suffer from the faeces on the bed, not him. It was, therefore, a singularly ineffective means for Ms Heard or one of her friends to ‘get back’ at Mr Depp. Other evidence in the case showed that Boo (one of the two dogs) had an incomplete mastery of her bowels after she had accidentally consumed some marijuana. Ms Heard gave evidence that Boo had in the past defecated on the bed and that she herself had cleaned it up rather than leave that task to Ms Vargas.
He didn’t really comment on Vargas’s testimony that she saw it, was familiar with Heard’s dog poo and in her opinion, it was clearly not the dog that s**t the bed here.
Depp has said he intends to appeal the verdict.

Amber Heard is presenting her testimony Johnny Depp’s defamation case against The Sun and it is not going well for her. How poorly is it going for her? Page Six, which is owned by the same person as The Sun, has been basically taking Johnny Depp’s side in its coverage of the trial.
The most interesting thing to come of out the trial yesterday, as reported by The Sun’s US edition, was Depp’s insulting nicknames for Heard’s male co-stars.
Depp had nicknames for Heard’s co-stars with Leonardo DiCaprio known as “pumpkin head”, Channing Tatum “potato head” and Jim Sturgess “turd”
Leo does kind of have a big head, doesn’t he? Although I guess anyone would have a bit of an ego after spending the last 20 years sleeping with the world’s most gorgeous 19-year-old supermodels.
Heard tried to paint Depp as being irrationally jealous and accusing her of having affairs all the time, which would have a lot more impact if Depp hadn’t produced multiple witnesses who claimed Elon Musk was always coming over late at night when Depp was out of town. That fact makes her “I’m not a gold digger” defense weaker, too.
Page Six reports that Heard got absolutely hammered by Depp’s lawyer when she took the stand.
Two police officers called to the scene afterward testified last week that they saw no damage or injuries to Heard at the time.
“It’s all lies, isn’t it?” Laws asked Heard, who had been recounting what happened.
The actress replied, “No.”
Laws suggested that Heard and two pals “were all getting your heads together and smashing up the apartment and putting makeup on to make you look injured.”
Heard shot back, “No, I have never done that.”
Asked if this meant that the cops were lying, Heard replied, “I don’t know their motivations” — but suggested they hadn’t told the truth to cover up the fact that they took no action against Depp.
Depp’s team also played a tape of Heard admitting she had hit him and calling him a baby for not liking being hit. Depp is also suing her in the US and while it’s much easier to sue for defamation in the UK, if this is any indication Heard is going to wish she had hung onto that divorce settlement money when it’s over.

I’ve never seen a s**t and thought “you know what, I should take a picture of that, I need that pile of human waste to be immortalized forever.”
Of course, I’ve never pulled back a bedsheet and seen a big old pile of movie star turds, either. You know who had that experience? Johnny Depp’s housekeeper Hilda Vargas. She took pictures of it, pictures which were admitted into evidence at his defamation trial against The Sun and which Page Six published.
First of all, click that at your own risk because unless you’re one of those weirdos who was turned on by the video of the two girls and the cup it’s pretty nasty.
Second of all that is clearly a human s**t and not something done by a tiny dog like Heard claimed, before she switched to claiming Depp himself had done it because he once made joke about having a human take a poo and blaming the dog as a prank.
Johnny Depp wrote in the text, “Will you squat in front of the door of the master bedroom and leave a giant coil of dookie so that Amber steps in it and thinks that one of the dogs, primarily Boo, has a major problem… It’ll be funny!!!”
I regret to inform you that Johnny Depp watches Family Guy. That text was from 2013 and Family Guy made a joke about taking a human poop in Quagmire’s cat’s litter box in the 2009 episode 420.
By the way, the reason Depp’s housekeeper took a picture of the human s**t in Depp’s bed is she was furious, as anyone who stumbled upon a human deuce while cleaning a bedroom would be.
The Spanish-speaking maid, through a translator, said the incident showed “a lack of respect” and that she took the photos because she was “angry.”
I mean, it does show a lack of respect. My mother once cleaned her kitchen floor the day before I had contractors come and tear the floor out and replace it because she didn’t want it to be dirty for the contractors and Amber Heard just shits in a bed and leaves it for the maid? Definitely a lack of respect.

Do you think Elon Musk would sleep with someone else’s wife? It’s just my opinion, but Elon Musk totally seems like the kind of guy who would sleep with someone else’s wife and then make a tweet manipulating Tesla’s stock prices.
At Johnny Depp’s defamation trial on Monday, Trinity Esparza, a concierge at the building Depp and Heard lived in when they were married, claimed the she never saw any bruises on Heard while she was with Depp, but did notice “bruises on her neck” after Musk had left looking “like he had just woken up with messy hair,” reports Page Six.
“I don’t know exactly what they were, she had visible marks,’’ the worker said.
Wass fired back, “You wanted to suggest that Mr. Musk had injured her, didn’t you?”
Esparza responded, “I did not suggest that, I don’t know.”
No, the implication here is definitely not that Elon injured her, lawyer dude.
Now, I’m not a genius like Elon Musk, but I have had an affair. I used to sleep with my ex while she was seeing other people and it did not take a genius brain for me to realize that giving her a hickey would have been a really stupid idea. I’m sure Elon Musk is much too smart to do anything like that were he to have sex with someone else’s wife, which I’m sure he wasn’t. After all, Elon Musk says he wasn’t sleeping with her until after she and Depp were separated, why would he lie? Alejandro Romero, a security guard in the building, said Musk often came over late at night when Depp was out of of town, but probably just to listen to a new album or do some late-night stock manipulation.
Elon wouldn’t just brazenly sleep with someone else’s wife and leave her with pash rash, would he?

Johnny Depp Admits to Drug and Alcohol Addiction, Denies Abusing Amber Heard During Wild Day In Court
Back in 2017, Johnny Depp and Amber Heard finalized their divorce and signed a non-disclosure agreement designed to protect the reputations of both actors.
And yet, three years later, details of the former couple's tumultuous time together continue to come out in court thanks to an endless parade of legal battles.
Currently, Depp is suing The Sun for $50 million in response to the UK tabloid's claims that he physically assaulted Heard on numerous occasions over the course of their brief marriage.
The media group stands by its claim that Depp was "controlling and verbally and physically abusive" towards Heard, "particularly when he was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs."
And in a London courtroom today, lawyers for The Sun presented evidence to that effect during the wild first day of what promises to be a bizarre legal battle.
One photo displayed in court today was taken by Heard and allegedly showed Depp passed out in the midst of an alcohol and drug bender.
Other images showed what appeared to be lines of cocaine laid out next to a glass of whiskey and a pill box adorned with Depp's initials.
The court also examined texts Heard sent to Depp's sister in which she alleged that the actor had disappeared on a bender with rockstar Marilyn Manson after dropping his then-15-year-old daughter off at school.
“He went to drop Lily-Rose off this morning and hasn’t been back since,” Heard wrote.
“JD is on a bender with Manson,” the messages read aloud in court continued.
“I think he’s at Marilyn’s now continuing the rage and coke booze binge.
“He’s gonna hurt himself and take us as a couple down with him. He just aims all his anger at me when he’s on it. Don’t know what to do.”
Confronted with the evidence, Depp admitted to doing drugs with Manson -- who is Lily-Rose's godfather -- "three or maybe four times," but he says the talk of a 24-hour bender was mere speculation on Heard's part.
Interestingly, Lily-Rose was in favor of Depp's relationship with Heard, as she believed the actress was a "good influence" on her hard-partying father.
It was also revealed in court today that Depp smoked marijuana with Lily-Rose when she was just 13 years old.
“I want her to trust me. If my daughter says she was ready, she was ready," Depp admitted, explaining that he would prefer his daughter experiment at home, under his supervision.
"I wanted to make sure the settings were perfection, put on family TV, fill the refrigerator with ice cream, fill the freezer, make a situation where the experience is as pleasant as possible," he told the court.
“If this is wrong in your eyes, I appreciate what you think. But I was raising a daughter, and I was being a responsible parent so far as I’m concerned.”
To his credit, Depp knows whereof he speaks when it comes to getting into drugs while still a child.
In today's testimony, he admitted to abusing substances at a "very young age, when it was not a particularly stable or secure or safe home life, and there was quite a lot of unpleasantness in the house,"
He stated that he spent much of his life in "an internal fight... in terms of alcohol and drugs and other numbing agents throughout my life, from the age of 11 on through."
Depp's wine budget has been the subject of speculation for years, and the actor admitted to spending $30,000 a month on exotic reds during his relationship with his children's mother, Vanessa Paradis.
Depp said in court that he "got sober off alcohol" for a "long while" after splitting from Paradis, but resumed drinking and doing drugs while he was with Heard.
Of course, the biggest point of contention was the claim made by The Sun that Depp violently assaulted Heard on 14 occasions between 2013 and 2016.
The Sun reported that Depp once attacked Heard in a fit of jealous rage when he suspected her of having an affair with James Franco.
In court today, Depp stated that he still believes Heard cheated on him with Franco, but insisted that he never assaulted her.
Instead, he claims, Heard assaulted him on several occasions, at one point nearly slicing off his finger with a broken liquor bottle.
"The claimant's position is clear -- Ms Heard's allegations are complete lies," an attorney for Depp said in court today.
"The claimant was not violent towards Ms Heard, it was she who was violent to him."
The civil trial between Depp and The Sun is scheduled to last for 15 court days.
Johnny Depp’s defamation trial against Amber Heard and the British tabloid The Sun, who called him an abuser, is underway and Depp is clearly going to leave it all on the field trying to restore his good name.
The Associated Press reported that Depp had quite a lot to say about his ex Amber Heard and her alleged abuse against him.
Depp claimed that on another occasion, Heard repeatedly punched him in the face on a private jet, forcing him to spend the flight locked in the plane’s bathroom.
“Rage-filled violent incidents on planes were common with Amber,” he said in the written statement.
In court, Depp described one incident in which Heard claims he hit her. He said the opposite was true.
“As things tended to do, (it) escalated and got physical, ending with a bit of assault. Ms. Heard struck me,” he said.
In a written statement, Depp alleged that Heard was “a calculating, diagnosed borderline personality; she is sociopathic; she is a narcissist; and she is completely emotionally dishonest.”
That seems like a harsh description, but keep in mind she dated Elon Musk, so it all rings true to me.
Depp also talked about how Heard targeted him to raise her profile and fame, via People.
“She was then extremely friendly to me and keen to tell me about the breakup with her former partner that she had recently gone through. If I had known then what I knew now, I would have seen the red flag warning signs, but I did not,” Depp alleged in court documents obtained by PEOPLE.
“She was beautiful, seemingly incredibly interested in me and my work, and I fell for it,” he continued. “She bombed me with what appeared to be love. It was not until much later that I understood that she had an agenda, namely to get married to me in order to progress her own career and/or to benefit financially, and she knew how to bring it about.”
He added: “She knew what she wanted, and I was an easy target.”
Depp claimed that Heard “had well and truly research me and my interests and she would try to pose as some expert or intellectual on these things to try to ingratiate herself with me.”
“She presented herself as a carbon copy of me, with precisely the same interests, thoughts, favorite writers, taste in music and art as me,” he said in court filings. “Rather than see this as calculated, sociopathic and emotionally dishonest, I convinced myself that it was endearing and sweet.”
Calling his ex-wife “calculating” and “completely emotionally dishonest,” Depp said he’s “convinced that she came into my life to take from me anything worth taking, and then destroy what remained of it.”
Remember when they were both at Comic-Con and people were saying how sorry they felt for her having to see her abuser? Bet you feel foolish for that one, don’t you?
Interestingly enough it was The Sun, the very paper Depp is suing in this case for calling him a wife-beater, who reported that Depp released photos of his finger which he claims Heard nearly sliced off.
Not as gross as Megan Fox’s toe thumbs, but still fairly disturbing.
The post Johnny Depp Trial Starts, Depp Releases Photo of Mangled Finger, Calls Amber Heard’s Claims ‘Sick’ appeared first on The Blemish.
When Johnny Depp and Amber Heard finalized their divorce back in 2017, fans assumed that would be the end of one of the bitterest celebrity splits in recent histoy.
Oh, how wrong they were.
Amber and Johnny have been back in court several times in the years since they signed the papers that brought an end to their brief (even by Hollywood standards) marriage.
First, Depp sued Heard for a whopping $50 million after she published a Washington Post op-ed about her experiences as an "abuse victim."
(Heard never mentioned Depp by name, but it wouldn't be difficult for anyone reading the article to determine that the abuse she referred to occurred during her high-profile marriage).
That suit has yet to be resolved, and it's led to both parties hurling shocking accusations at one another.
Amber claimed that Johnny was an alcoholic monster who would fly into fits of rage at the slightest provocation.
For his part, Depp accused Heard of slicing his finger off during one of the couple's many physical altercations.
Needles to say, the situation got ugly in a hurry.
Today, Depp and Heard are expected to once again square off in a London courtroom, although this time, Heard is neither plaintiff nor defendant.
Depp is suing UK tabloid The Sun in response to a 2018 article in which journalist Dan Wootton described Depp as a "wife beater."
It is unknown if Heard will testify at any point, but judge Andrew Nicol has already determined that Heard will be allowed in the courtroom for today's hearing.
"In those articles, it is said, the Defendants accused the Claimant of multiple acts of physical violence against Ms Heard, some of which, it is alleged the articles said, put Ms Heard in fear of her life," Nicol wrote in a recently released court document.
Regardless of whether or not his ex testifies, this case could lead to further damage to Depp's reputation.
On Thursday, The Sun requested that the case be thrown out as a result of Depp's attempt to withhold damaging evidence known as "the Australian drug texts."
The tabloid claims its allegations about Depp's abusive tendencies are based largely on evidence pertaining to “a three-day ordeal of physical assaults” that occurred while he and Heard were briefly living Australia."
During that time, the paper alleges, Depp was taking MDMA and drinking heavily on a daily basis.
The Sun alleges that when Johnny and his lawyers were asked to surrender his communications from that time period, they attempted to bury the drug texts -- in which Depp refers to ecstasy as "whitey stuff" -- knowing how bad they would look in court.
“The Australian drug texts were adverse to the claimant’s pleaded case and/or were supportive of the defendants’ pleaded case," Nicols' wrote.
However he denied The Sun's request to dismiss the case due to the attempted concealment of the texts.
This, of course, is not the first time that shocking Depp texts were made public as a result of his constant legal wrangling with Heard.
“Let’s burn Amber,” Depp allegedly texted friend and actor Paul Bettany in 2013.
“Let’s drown her before we burn her!!! I will f–k her burnt corpse afterwards to make sure she is dead.”
Those messages were eventually read aloud in London's High Court.
The drug texts will probably receive a similar treatment -- and hopefully, it'll be around that time that Depp realizes he should stop filing frivolous lawsuits pertaining to his disastrous marriage.
I have pretty much been on Johnny Depp’s side of his case against Amber Heard for some time now. His story just comes across as much more believable than hers and the evidence all seems to support his side while hers relies on a scenario that has Johnny Depp slicing his finger off to scare her.
But Johnny Depp has gone too far and his story sounds entirely unbelievable now. Johnny Depp expects us to believe that Elon Musk has had sex. I mean, look at that turd, no matter how much money he has that dude is an incel. I know he has like 10 kids or something, but I choose to believe he was not present for their conception because I just can’t see someone touching his penis.
But Page Six reports that testimony in Depp’s trial claims Musk is not only not a permavirgin but he had sex with two women at the same time.
Josh Drew — the ex-husband of Raquel “Rocky” Pennington, Heard’s best friend — contended in a deposition by Depp’s attorney Benjamin Chew that Musk, 48, slept with Heard and Delevingne at Depp’s LA penthouse.
Drew was, at the time, living rent-free in one of Depp’s other apartments near the penthouse in downtown LA, and has continued to socialize with Heard as of last year. The “Aquaman” actress is reportedly also paying for his attorney as well.
I mean, if I believed Elon Musk had sex, I would totally believe that he was the kind of guy to have sex with another man’s wife in his bed.
An old Blind Gossip item claims that Musk has a huge thing for threesomes, specifically being “dominated by two women.” I can honestly see that, Musk doesn’t seem like the type to be happy not satisfying only one woman.
Heard recently lost her legal team, but I imagine being reminded you had sex with Elon Musk is much harder to deal with mentally.

The latest chapter in the long saga of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s divorce is that Depp’s lawsuit against the Rupert Murdoch owned tabloid The Sun in the UK for libel has resulted in two of of Depp’s exes giving sworn statements about his behavior with them.
Variety reported the details of the statements from Winona Ryder and Vanessa Paradis and they aren’t really helping The Sun or Amber Heard with their claims.
Paradis said in her statement: “I have known Johnny for more than 25 years. We’ve been partners for 14 years and we raised our two children together. Through all these years I’ve known Johnny to be a kind, attentive, generous, and non-violent person and father.”
She added: “He was never violent or abusive to me.”
Winona Rider provided similar testimony.
Ryder, with whom Depp had a relationship in the 1990s, said in her statement: “I cannot wrap my head around (Heard’s) accusations. He was never, never violent towards me. He was never, never abusive at all towards me.”
Heard’s lawyers replied that the fact that Depp wasn’t abusive to anyone else doesn’t mean he wasn’t abuse to Heard, which is true, but it’s important to keep in mind that Amber Heard has been accused of domestic abuse by a previous partner. Everything we know taken together definitely paints a specific picture. And it’s a damn shame because it means admitting JK Rowling was right about something which is really annoying.

Because Amber Heard was in a big DC Comics movie, one of the few that was actually good (though not as good as Shazam!), she gets coverage on comic book sites and not just celebrity site. Comicbook.com ran a story earlier today speculating that Heard could face prison time if she did indeed fabricate evidence of Johnny Depp being abusive, which appears to be the case to many people.
It’s an interesting take and worth a read, but it’s not based on any actual movements from the DA’s office in California that I’ve heard about.
Here’s the relevant California law the article refers to.
California Penal Code Section 141 PC establishes that it is illegal to alter, modify, plant, place, conceal, manufacture or move any physical matter with the intention of causing someone to be charged with a crime. Other laws that would apply include Offering false evidence under California Penal Code 132 PC and Preparing false evidence under California Penal Code Section 134 PC. The latter two laws are felony charges, while the initial law is typically a misdemeanor, but could be charged as a felony.
But… the question is should Heard face charges for this? Should she go to prison?
Personally, I’m not a fan of sending anyone to prison. I’ve mentioned I believe both Jussie Smollett and Lori Loughlin should receive relative slaps on the wrist for the crimes they’re accused of, even though Jussie’s defense just insults everyone’s intelligence.
Amber Heard is it directly comparable because if the allegations against her are true she did victimize someone, unlike Smollett or Loughlin. If Heard acted maliciously here, she did so to damage Depp’s reputation and career and she did so in order to give herself more leverage in her divorce proceedings.
Still, I don’t know that Heard should go to prison. She should potentially be punished in some way, but prison is perhaps not the best route for that. She stands to have to pay out a huge amount of money to Johnny Depp should his lawsuit be successful, and that will probably do more to make Depp whole than sending her to prison.
On the other hand, Depp is not the only person Heard has been accused of abusing, so maybe she does need to cool her heels in the slammer.
It’s probably a moot point because Heard is unlikely to charge criminal charges stemming from this incident, but it’s certainly something a lot of people are considering wi5h all their newly-found free time.
The post Should Amber Heard Face Prison Time if She Falsified Evidence Against Johnny Depp? appeared first on The Blemish.
When Amber Heard accused Johnny Depp of domestic abuse, Depp lost a lot of work. There were petitions to fire him from the Fantastic Beasts series of Harry Potter prequels and Disney announced that Depp wouldn’t be included in any future Pirates of the Caribbean films. But now the worm has turned and the domestic abuse allegations are on the other foot. Amber Heard has managed to avoid the kind of blowback Depp experienced even though Heard was previously arrested for domestic assault with a different partner.
That may be about to change because there are now rumors that Heard isn’t going to be involved in Aquaman 2. Heard played Mera, the love interest to Jason Momoa’s Aquaman, in the first Aquaman movie as well as in Justice League.
The website Republic World reported the rumors that Warner is looking to be out of the Amber Heard business.
Amber Heard’s ugly breakup might have cost her the role of a DC superhero. There are rumours that the makers of the Jason Momoa starrer are planning to remove Heard from their upcoming project. The recent reports claim that Warner Bros want to be totally out of all these controversies. They are planning to remove Amber as they do not wish for the bad blood to affect their upcoming project. There is also a possibility that her screen time in the film could be deducted for the same.
Okay, this is just a rumor at this point, and we’re at least a year away from the start of filming on Aquaman 2. In the comics, Mera is Aquaman’s wife so I’d guess DC wants to keep her in the films, but Marvel has proven that love interests aren’t all that important to superhero films. Hell, Mary Jane Watson isn’t even in the new Spider-Man films and for some reason they combined Better Brant and Gwen Stacy into a single character and combined her with supporting character Ned Leeds. And DC’s own Arrow killed off Green Arrow’s traditional love interest Black Canary and relaxed her with Felicity Smoak, a supporting character from The Fury of Firestorm that we’re never going to hear about again now that Arrow has ended.
DC has options here is the point. They could wait until Depp’s defamation lawsuit is cleared up in the hopes that she manages to clear her name, the role of Mera could be recast or the character could be discarded altogether to just focus the sequel on Aquaman himself. And it’s just a rumor, it might not even be true. But we can hope.

As you're probably aware, the Johnny Depp-Amber Heard divorce has been one of the messiest in the modern history of Hollywood.
The split is different than most celebrity breakups, as the trouble began just weeks after the the couple said "I do," and it's still going on now, three years after Amber and Johnny signed their divorce papers.
Last month we learned that Depp was threatening to kill Amber and have sex with her corpse just weeks after their wedding.
And what could have possibly made him so upset during their honeymoon phase?
Perhaps it was the revelation that for all his iconic coolness, Depp was being cuckolded by one of the world's most famous nerds.
Yes, we've known for quite some time that Heard and Elon Musk dated briefly following her separation from Depp.
But now, Depp's lawyers are claiming that Amber and Elon started hooking up just weeks after she married Johnny.
“Unbeknownst to Mr. Depp, no later than one month after his marriage to Ms. Heard, she was spending time in a new relationship with Tesla and Space X founder, Elon Musk," reads a court filing from Depp's lawyers that was made public this week.
"Only one calendar month after Mr. Depp and Ms. Heard were married — while Mr. Depp was out of the country, filming in March 2015 — Eastern Columbia Building personnel testified that Ms. Heard received Musk ‘late at night’ at Mr. Depp’s penthouse.”
Depp's lawyers go on to claim they have solid evidence of the affair:
“Specifically, Ms. Heard asked staff at the Eastern Columbia Building to give her ‘friend Elon’ access to the building’s parking garage and the penthouse elevator ‘late at night,’ and they testified that they did so,” the document continues.
“Building staff would then see Ms. Heard’s ‘friend Elon’ leaving the building the next morning… Musk’s first appearance in Mr. Depp’s penthouse occurred shortly after Ms. Heard threw a vodka bottle at Mr. Depp in Australia, when she learned that Mr. Depp wanted the couple to enter into a post-nuptial agreement concerning assets in their marriage.”
In possibly related news, Musk has once again unfollowed pregnant girlfriend Grimes on Twitter, leading to widespread speculation that the couple has parted ways.
Grimes and Musk didn't start dating until 2018, meaning they weren't in a relationship when he was (allegedly) messing around with Amber.
So it's possible their split had nothing to do with the Heard situation.
But who knows? Maybe Grimes is so vehemently Team Depp that she decided to dump her billionaire baby daddy simply because he betrayed Captain Jack.
Johnny tends to inspire a weird level of loyalty among his fans.
The more information that we get about Amber Heard and Johnny Depp, the worse things are looking for the “Johnny Depp is an abuser and we should boycott those Harry Potter spin-offs no one was watching anyway” people.
The latest report is that audio recorded of the couple details Heard admitting to punching Depp in the face after hitting him in the head with a door.
Here’s what Page Six reported on the incident.
In the new tape, the actress, 33, admits to also “clocking” the 56-year-old “Pirates of the Caribbean” star in the jaw, saying, “I am so sorry … I can remember hitting you as a response to the door thing. And I’m really sorry about hitting you with the door or hitting your head. I did not mean to.”
She says she hit him “in response to the door thing” but the “door thing” was her hitting him with a door.
On the audiotape, Depp is heard saying, “I’d just been hit in the head with a f–king corner of the door … And then I stood up and then you f–king clock me.” Heard responds, “I did not do this thing with the door … [but] I did mean to hit you.”
Heard, of course, maintains that Johnny Depp was the aggressor in this situation where she hit him in the face with a door and then punched him in the face.
“I was trying to escape from a room where Johnny was attacking me … I was trying to get onto the other side of the door, attempting to close the door, and he was attempting to get in, despite my attempts to try to escape an assault.” Of her apology to Depp on the tape, “I made it very clear I was sorry that the door hit him as I went into the room I was … attempting to escape into.” But she told Depp’s lawyers in the deposition that the taped conversation “misrepresents what actually happened, which is him trying to get into a room, which I was trying to get him out of.”
I’m not one to judge here, but Heard’s statements don’t add up to me. How did she hit him with a door if she was trying to close it and he was on the other side of it? Doors don’t work that way, you would have to swing a door open to hit someone with it. Go to any door in your house and try to make sense of what Heard said happened.

If you weren’t convinced Amber Heard was the bad guy in her marriage to Johnny Depp, there’s more evidence every day. According to Page Six, Heard is looking to use the discovery portion of her defamation trial to go digging through The Weinstein Company’s records for find any correspondence Johnny may have had with social pariah Harvey Weinstein.
The subpoena requests a number of documents, including all “communications between Mr. Depp and Harvey Weinstein.”
It also seeks documents “concerning any act of violence committed by Mr. Depp during the production or promotion of ‘The Libertine,’” a 2004 Weinstein Company-produced flick starring Depp.
Now, far be it from me to wildly speculate about Heard’s motive, but let’s wildly speculate about Heard’s motive. Heard has been been trying to publicly destroy Depp’s reputation while holding herself out as some sort of victim, and a few e-mails with Johnny being nice to Harvey just might do the trick.
I can’t stress enough that we don’t know what happened between Depp and Heard behind closed doors. All we have to judge this situation by is Heard’s prior arrest for domestic abuse, audio of the couple where Heard seemingly confesses to physically assaulting Depp and our own judgement as to what kind of person would date Elon Musk. There’s just really no way to know what happened.

Amber Heard’s whole schtick of labeling herself as a feminist icon and a voice for abused women really backfired after it came out that she’s been accused of domestic abuse by multiple former partners, didn’t it? I mean, yikes.
The latest thing going around is a transcript of Amber Heard body-shaming Depp, a super feminist thing to do.

Man, you hate to see it.
Public opinion is really turning against Heard and towards Depp, though. Just take a look at these replies.
Johnny Depp is beautiful af and doesn't need a diet but alright sis

When was Johnny ever “fat”? Sure, I’ve seen him with a little more meat on his bones and I mean..I have zero complaints. Not that his weight matters, but if she leginately said those things to him, she should be ashamed of herself. Body shaming is not ok.
— Christina Donnelly (@BackstageBarbie) February 11, 2020
This one makes a good point, Depp was never fat. That sounds like, hypothetically, the kind of thing someone might say if that person was emotionally abusive.
— eres el amor de mi vida (@CARITOLIRIUM) February 11, 2020
And people say he was not abused. This verbal tirade thrown at him in front of an employee and freind is stand alone proof of the vile disgusting disrespect she shows for someone she supposedly loves. #JusticeForJohnnyDepp

One thing I’ve learned as this story unfolds is that people are really mad at Amber Heard. A lot of people have loved Johnny Depp for over 30 years, only to find he was a terrible person and to attack and shun him and then to find that he isn’t a terrible person and those rumors were just adding to the abuse he was suffering through silently. I can understand why people are so upset.
#JusticeForJohnnyDepp Is Twitter’s Number One Trend As Amber Heard Allegedly Confesses to Beating Johnny Depp in New Audio Tape
It’s Super Bowl weekend, the Iowa caucus is on Monday and we’re in the middle of the third presidential impeachment trial in American history so obviously the number one thing people are talking about on social media is Johnny Depp.
New audio surfaced of a conversation between Depp and his ex-wife Amber Heard that appears to pretty definitively prove that Heard was the abuser in their relationship and Depp is the victim, which is what we’ve believed for quite some time now.
In the audio obtained by the Daily Mail, Heard can heard telling Depp that while she admits to “beating” him, she didn’t use a closed fist to do so, so she didn’t punch him, and told him “You are such a baby, grow the fuck up,” for complaining about her hitting him, and also admits to throwing pots and pans at him.
Yeah, it doesn’t look great for Heard.
People are very angry about this because Heard was made into some sort of spokesperson for domestic abuse, giving speeches at the Women’s March and the U.N. about being a survivor. Now she appears to be a perpetrator and Depp, who has been publicly besieged for years and lost his gig in Pirates of the Caribbean over the abuse allegations looms like the victim.
Of course, there will be months and months of courtroom hearings and more evidence will be introduced. We could be back here in a few months talking about a tape of Depp admitting he was the aggressor. I sincerely doubt that will happen, and this audio does seem pretty damning, especially Heard’s attitude about her behavior, which is along the lines of “well, sometimes people get hit and have pots thrown at them and lose their fingertip. What”s the big deal?” But really, anything could come out. We’ll just have to wait and see and hope that justice wins out.
Some of our younger readers might not remember this, but there was a time when the name Johnny Depp was synonymous with cool.
Not too many '90s heartthrobs got to party with Hunter S. Thompsom and jam with Keith Richards, but Depp was many things to many people.
These days, sadly, Depp's name conjures images of dissolution, premature decrepitude, and nasty brawls of both the legal and physical varieties.
Currently, the actor is locked in an increasingly ugly lawsuit against his ex-wife, Amber Heard.
Depp is suing Heard for $50 million dollars, claiming that she violated a non-disclosure agreement with a Washington Post essay in which she described herself as an abuse victim.
The actress never mentioned Depp by name, but the image of Heard's black eye -- which she claims to have sustained in an altercation with Depp -- was no doubt fresh in the minds of many readers.
The court case has seen both sides hurl some potentially devastating accusations, and insiders say the situation has been emotionally draining for Johnny.
A recent report from Radar Online claims that there are fears about Depp drinking himself to death, as he the 56-year-old has been partying harder than ever in recent months.
One source claims this troubling behavior was on full display during a recent public appearance Depp made at an undisclosed location:
“Johnny was still ordering vodka to his room by the bottle at 3 a.m. the night before a recent red-carpet event,”
“He was gulping the booze during the event from a coffee cup. It was wild! His security guys had to try and keep him steady on his feet.”
Obviously, we have no way of knowing the extent of Depp's alcohol intake, but whatever is going in his life these days, it seems was all a bit too much for Polina Glen.
Depp and Glen started dating back in April, but it seems the Russian ballerina quickly found Johnny's life a tad overwhelming.
“Polina hated the attention the relationship was bringing her and found it scary," one insider tells Radar.
"She’s now keeping her head down in Russia and told Johnny plans to get married were madness,” the source adds.
This story is accompanied by a whole lot of bonkers rumors about how Johnny's dire financial straits have forced him to seek out some very strange business partnerships, which is why he's spending so much time in Moscow these days.
But we'll leave the Russian collusion investigation to the pros.
Besides, it's not like you need an elaborate conspiracy theory to see how Polina might have been a bit put off by the gnarled mess that is Depp's current life.
“His level of celebrity and his ongoing battle with Amber grew too much for her," says the source.
"Johnny has been distracted by his feud with Amber and she didn’t think the time was right for them to commit to anything,”
Normally, moving back to Russia after spending six months living in a Hollywood mansion would seem like a step down, but we think Polina actually made the right call here.
Besides, we hear summer in St. Petersburg is beautiful -- unfortunately, it's like three hours in mid-July.
It's been almost three years since Johnny Depp and Amber Heard finalized their divorce, but the actors are still duking it out in court with big money on the line.
Ironically, the current battle is being waged over a non-disclosure agreement that was designed to prevent further legal wrangling.
Depp is suing Heard for $50 million, alleging that she violated the NDA with a recent op-ed piece she wrote for The Washington Post.
Though Heard never mentioned Depp by name, she identified herself as an abuse victim in the essay, and Johnny's legal team is arguing that there was a clear implication that she was referring to her most high-profile relationship.
The suit was filed in March, but there's still no end in sight.
Normally, when an A-list movie star files a multimillion-dollar lawsuit, the real goal is to punish the defendant, not to score a big payday.
But if there's any truth to the rumor that Depp is broke, he might really be looking to get into his ex's Aquaman earnings.
In all likelihood, however, Johnny is motivated mostly by revenge -- which makes this latest rumor a twist worthy of Shyamalan.
The situation was drenched in irony to begin with, and adding to the Faustian bargain/reversal of fortune motif is the fact that it's Depp, not Heard, who's being run through the emotional wringer here.
The suit has resulted in all sorts of damaging claims by Heard, whose lawyers filed papers that basically claim Depp is an alcoholic monster.
According to a new report from Radar Online, the court case and the resulting scrutiny of his messy marriage and divorce have taken a tremendous psychological toll on the famously private Depp.
And one source claims the actor is dealing with the stress by hitting the bottle harder than ever.
The account is light on specifics, but it seems the cash-strapped actor did some traveling for a paid appearance recently, and he lived up to his rock-and-roll reputation by getting smashed at his hotel.
“Johnny was still ordering vodka to his room by the bottle at 3 a.m. the night before a recent red-carpet event,” said an insider.
“He was gulping the booze during the event from a coffee cup. It was wild! His security guys had to try and keep him steady on his feet.”
After complaining about his room at the hotel, Depp allegedly quipped, “It’s fine because I’ll trash it anyway.”
It's no great surprise that a guy who used to spend $30,000 a month on wine might have a serious drinking problem.
But if Radar's report is to be believed, then the 56-year-old has taken his boozing to new heights, which is especially worrisome given recent concerns about Depp's health.
Here's hoping that either the story is bogus, or Johnny was just having an off night.
We're sure even the guy's harshest critics -- including Amber -- don't want to hear the news that he drank himself into an early grave.
Way back in January of 2017, Johnny Depp and Amber Heard finalized their divorce by signing a non-disclosure agreement that prevented either side from talking about the split publicly.
One of the goals of the agreement was to prevent messy court battles over statements made to the press.
It seems the plan backfired in spectacular fashion, however, as Depp is currently suing Heard for $50 million, alleging that she violated the agreement by writing a Washington Post op-ed about her experiences as an abuse victim.
Heard never referred to Depp by name, but given the high profile nature of their brief marriage and ugly divorce, there was little doubt whom she was talking about.
Thus far, the court battle has been a nightmare for both parties, as new allegations of appalling behavior have been hurled in both directions.
In written statements, Heard has called Depp an alcoholic "monster" who repeatedly assaulted her and tried to have her blacklisted in Hollywood following their divorce.
Depp has countered by accusing Heard of painting bruises on her face and body in order to frame him for divorce.
He claims that Heard tried to cut off his finger during one of the then-couple's infamous 2015 meltdown in Australia.
This week, in an amended filing, Depp made a new claim about that ugly altercation, claiming that when he tried to distance himself from Heard, the actress shoved a lit cigarette in his face.
According to documents obtained by The Blast, Depp claims that Heard flew "into a rage" after she learned of his "intention to enter into a post-nuptial agreement."
Depp claims that at that point he had not had a drink in over a year, but retreated to a basement bar in the residence where the couple was staying in order to avoid Heard.
"She followed him, screaming at him abusively," Depp's legal team writes.
The filing goes on to claim that Heard became further enraged when she encountered Depp drinking vodka.
At that point, she began hurling bottles.
One of them shattered, resulting in Depp's infamous severed finger.
Allegedly not content with the damage she had done "Ms. Heard then put a cigarette out on [Depp's] right cheek," claims Johnny's legal team.
Heard's lawyers have already fired back in a statement denying the accusation.
“This allegation is absurd, offensive and categorically untrue,” the attorneys write.
“This photograph proves nothing - apart from the fact that Johnny Depp is desperate to throw out any outlandish allegation to deflect attention from his physical and ongoing psychological abuse of Amber Heard.”
While it's unclear how this latest allegation will be received by the judge, Depp's legal team already scored a minor victory this week.
The actor's lawyers have been arguing that since Heard's piece was published in D.C., the trial should take place in nearby Virginia, and not in California, as Heard's attorneys wanted.
We'll continue to keep you updated on this developing story as more information becomes available.
This Johnny Depp and Amber Heard story has been months and months of he said, she said but he probably said the truth because who cuts off their own finger and doesn’t know the difference between human shit and shit from a tiny purse dog? Nobody, that’s who, and your story doesn’t add up.
Now we’re going to hear from someone else on what happened. I mean, we have heard from a bunch of people but none of them are famous so who cares. That’s right, Depp’s lawyers have subpoenaed James Franco, who was on video obtained by The Blast with Heard less than a day after her fight with Depp where he allegedly beat her up and she allegedly faked her injuries with makeup.
Interestingly, the two stars seem to know there is a camera in the elevator (and its location) as they don’t allow for their faces to been seen clearly during the ride.
At one point, Heard is seen moving backward towards Franco, keeping her face away from the camera, and moves in close as she appears to be speaking with him while he keeps his head down.
That’s sketchy as hell to me. So Depp’s lawyers want Franco to testify about what he saw and heard from Heard on the night in question.
Depp’s attorney, Adam Waldman tells The Blast, “We are interested in James Franco and Elon Musk as fact witnesses because we have evidence they are men who saw Amber Heard’s face in the days and nights between when she claimed Mr. Depp smashed her in the face on May 21 and when she went to court with painted on ‘bruises’ to obtain a Temporary Restraining Order on May 27.”
Heard’s lawyers claim it’ a coincidence and Heard and Franco just happened to live in the same building.
Heard’s lawyer, Eric George, tells The Blast, “This bogus story is just another lame attempt by Johnny Depp and his team to spread deliberately misleading information through the media so that he can continue to attack and abuse his ex-wife.”
George continues, “Amber Heard and James Franco once lived in the same apartment complex and were simply taking an elevator at the same time. Period.”
Finally, someone famous can tell us what to think so that we don’t have to think for ourselves.
The post James Franco is Going to Clear Up This Johnny Depp/Amber Heard Thing appeared first on The Blemish.
For obvious reasons, it's pretty uncommon for A-list celebrities to be thrown in prison.
The justice system tends to look pretty favorably on the wealthy and well-connected, and if worse comes to worst, you can always just hire a fall guy.
Still, when there's even a remote possibility that a major star will get tossed in the clink we like to imagine how they would cope with life on the cell block.
And in the case of Johnny Depp, we think the obvious answer is not very well at all!
Sure, Depp's played some major badasses over the course of his career, and he gets bonus points for being covered in tattoos.
But turning over his many man-bracelets at the front gate would probably leave him with tear-streaked guyliner, and that's just not a good look on day one.
But we're getting ahead of ourselves here.
Why is it -- you ask -- that there's a remote chance Johnny might end up rocking a county orange jumpsuit?
Well, like every tabloid scandal in his life over the past three years, it all has to do with his messy marriage to Amber Heard.
It's been over two years since Depp and Heard finalized their divorce, but a recent lawsuit -- filed by Johnny, ironically -- has the ex-couple back in front of a judge.
And now, Heard's lawyers are alleging that Depp committed perjury when in his initial filing.
Depp is suing Heard for $50 million in connection with a piece she wrote for the Washington Post in which she described herself as an abuse victim.
According to Johnny, Amber's article violated their non-disclosure agreement -- and now he wants her to pay.
Unfortunately, the legal action backfired in spectacular fashion, as court proceedings have resulted in one embarrassing revelation after another for the actor.
Sure, the allegations have gone both ways. but the ones Heard has lobbed at Depp -- including a story in which he became so jealous of James Franco that he flew into a violent rage -- have been the most humiliating.
And Amber's latest accusation could have serious legal consequences.
According to newly-filed documents obtained by The Blast, Depp “clearly perjured himself claiming that there was only one 911 call reporting his abuse on the evening of May 21, 2016."
Heard's attorneys say Depp made the claim knowing full well that Amber's friend iO Tillet Wright made multiple 911 calls the night of the alleged attack.
"Readily obtainable public records of LAPD call logs from that evening show that iO Tillet Wright called 911 at 8:30 PM to report Mr. Depp’s violent and destructive behavior that evening, confirming the eyewitness accounts of how iO heard that Mr. Depp was becoming violent toward Ms. Heard over the phone and then called 911," their filing reads.
Now, people go to jail for perjury all the time.
But very few of those people have anchored multi-billion dollar Disney franchises.
So Depp probably won't be getting locked up -- but this isn't great news for his already-battered reputation.
How many crimes does this guy have to commit to research his role as Grindelwald? Yeesh!
The more Johnny Depp talks about his relationship with Amber Heard, the worse I feel for him. And the latest round of court documents obtained by The Blast is a real doozy.
“I have denied Ms. Heard’s allegations vehemently since she first made them in May 2016,” Depp begins, “when she walked into court to obtain a temporary restraining order with painted-on bruises that witnesses and surveillance footage show she did not possess each day of the preceding week. I will continue to deny them for the rest of my life. I never abused Ms. Heard or any other woman.”
I mean, that sounds far-fetched. What kind of person would paint on bruises and go to the police like that?
He explains, “After I removed myself from Ms. Heard’s presence in the penthouse on April 21, 2016, the following morning Ms. Heard or one of her friends defecated in my bed as some sort of a sick prank before they left for Coachella together.”
Depp claims that Heard admitted to their estate manager “that the feces was ‘just a harmless prank.’”
That incident, Depp says, is what led him to seek a divorce from Heard.
Yeah, more about the shitting in the bed thing. That is so crazy, what kind of person does that?
“She went berserk and began throwing bottles at me,” Depp claimed. “The first bottle sailed past my head and missed, but then she threw a large glass vodka bottle.”
The actor said the bottle hit the countertop where he had his hand and caused his finger to shatter, ultimately severing his fingertip.
“I had to have 3 surgeries to reconstruct my finger and contracted MRSA three time,” he claimed. “I feared that I would lose my finger, my arm and my life.”
I mean, that does sound more likely.
We really don’t know for sure who is telling the truth and we probably never will, but I will say this; one of these people has a history of abusive behavior and dating Elon Musk and one doesn’t, so who looks more credible?
The post Johnny Depp Details Amber Heard’s Alleged Abuse, Claims She “Painted On” Bruises appeared first on The Blemish.
Throughout his decades as one of the biggest movie stars in the world, Johnny Depp has been praised for his chameleon-like ability to completely transform himself from one role to the next.
Now, for his final act, Depp has apparently decided to morph from beloved screen idol into broke-ass self-saboteur who may or may not be guilty of viciously bullying the ex-wife he allegedly abused.
Let's back it up a bit to examine how Johnny managed to slice and dice his own public image like Edward Scissorhands with a bad case of the shakes from drinking $30,000 worth of wine a month.
When Depp and Amber Heard finalized their divorce, they signed an iron-clad non-disclosure agreement that prevented either of them from speaking about the split publicly.
Johnny went and screwed that up by filing a series of lawsuits that required the courts to dredge up all the nasty allegations against him.
Most recently, he sued Heard for $50 million for discussing her experiences as an abuse survivor in a recent Washington Post op-ed.
His lawyers came out swinging and alleged that Heard tried to cut Depp's finger off during one particularly nasty fight.
Amber's team fired back with both barrels, leveling allegations both horrific (repeated tales of physical abuse directed at Heard) and hilarious (they claim Depp was so jealous of James Franco that he threw a tantrum for an entire cross-country flight).
In addition to his battle against Heard, Depp is still suing his former lawyer Jake Bloom because -- get this -- Bloom advised Depp to settle with Heard out of court, as a messy court battle would do irreparable damage to his career.
Apparently, when you're rich enough, you can actually sue people for being right.
Anyway, that case has also yielded a ton of messy revelations, including an account of Depp attempting to get Heard fired from her role in Aquaman.
In her Washington Post piece, Heard claimed that she had been "blacklisted" in Hollywood following her split from Depp:
"A movie I was attached to recast my role. I had just shot a two-year campaign as the face of a global fashion brand, and the company dropped me," she wrote.
"Questions arose as to whether I would be able to keep my role of Mera in the movies “Justice League” and “Aquaman.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, lawyers for Bloom intend to prove that Depp was behind that vicious campaign:
"Sources familiar with the deposition requests say [Warner Bros. chairman Kevin] Tsujihara will be asked to testify under oath about whether or not he played a role in “blacklisting” Heard at Warner Bros.," the outlet reports.
"Depp, a star in the studio’s Fantastic Beasts franchise (he plays Grindelwald), is alleged to have personally lobbied Tsujihara to remove the actress from Aquaman and block her from getting other projects."
Yes, Bloom plans to get the former president of Warner Bros. -- who was himself disgraced in a recent, Wenistein-esque "casting couch" scandal -- to verify that Depp tried to destroy Heard's career.
And because we live in supremely f--ked up times, that might actually do more damage to Depp's career than the allegations that he's an abusive monster.
You can smack around all the actresses you want, but the moment you start messing with studio exec's and their precious reputations, you're going down, pal!
When Johnny Depp and Amber Heard finalized their divorce back in 2017, they both signed non-disclosure agreements that prevented them from speaking about their brief marriage in interviews.
But now, a series of increasingly ugly lawsuits have put their split back in the tabloid headlines, and the financially-troubled Depp stands to lose a lot more than just another chunk of his fading fortune.
The latest suit has Depp suing Heard for $50 million, alleging that she violated their NDA by referencing abuse she allegedly suffered at his hands in an op-ed piece she recently wrote for the Washington Post.
The suit has seen both parties hurl shocking accusations at the other.
At one point, Depp claimed that Heard tried to cut off his finger during a fight and very nearly succeeded.
Heard countered that Depp is an alcoholic "monster" who frequently subjected her to violent abuse during his jealous rages.
With $50 million on the line, it may seem that Amber has far more to lose in this situation than Johnny.
But even if he ends up victorious in the end, the court case and all its damaging revelation may prove even more costly to Depp.
That's because Warner Bros. executives are reportedly considering firing the actor from his role as Grindelwald in the Fantastic Beasts series as a direct result of his current lawsuit.
“Executives at Warner Bros. are wondering how to deal with the backlash of the Depp matter on the Harry Potter franchise,” a source close to the situation tells Page Six.
“High-level female execs at the studio are extremely worried about working with Depp and the message it sends to the public, especially after the recent sordid departure of CEO Kevin Tsujihara."
Tsujihara recently left Warner Bros. amid allegations of inappropriate conduct directed at female employees.
“This is yet another blow to the morale of female employees at the studio,” the insider claims.
“If Warner Bros. continues to stick by Depp, it would reveal a lot about the values the company holds.”
Several conflicted employees reportedly place some of the blame on J.K. Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter series who came out in defense of the decision to cast Depp as Grindelwald.
“Many at Warner Bros. wish that Rowling hadn’t come out so strongly behind Depp, because having made her opinion so public boxes them into a corner,” says the informant.
It seems the decision on how to handle the Depp situation has not yet been reached, but insiders expect Warner to cut ties with the actor soon.
And astonishingly, Rowling isn't the only billionaire who's been dragged into the battle between Depp and Heard.
Page Six also reports that Heard's former boyfriend Elon Musk has been subpoenaed by Johnny's legal team.
Expect this situation to get much worse before it gets better.
The more information we get about Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, the more it sounds like we all owe Johnny Depp an apology. It’s always hard to say anything definitive, but it’s looking much more like Johnny Depp was the victim of domestic abuse and Heard was the abuser, which fits with the fact that she was arrested for domestic abuse in a previous relationship and he’s never been accused of abuse by any partner other than Heard.
Here’s our basic timeline of events; Amber Heard was arrested for domestic abuse against Tasya van Ree, then she married Johnny Depp, then she took a shit in his bed, then she accused him of domestic violence during their divorce during which she asked for $50k a month alimony and sold photos allegedly showing her having been abused to People.
So why is this suddenly back in the news? Well, The Blast published a photo of Johnny Depp with a black eye, allegedly given to him by Heard.

I’m not entirely sure Depp is entirely innocent here, he did take a swing at that location scout. But like I said before, if a human being takes a shit in your bed and all you do is throw your phone at them, that’s you showing an incredible amount of restraint.
But really, we all should have at least been wary of making the face of domestic violence victims someone with a documented history of committing domestic abuse.
Johnny Depp has just taken his feud with ex-wife Amber Heard to an entirely new level.
Monetarily speaking, at least, that is.
According to multiple outlets, the veteran actor has filed a $50 million defamation lawsuit against Heard, alleging that her accusations of abuse against him have harmed his reputation.
In court papers obtained by The Blast, Depp says that Heard’s “false allegations” are nothing but “an elaborate hoax to generate positive publicity” for her and to “advance her career.”
The lawsuit specifically cites a December 2018 Washington Post op-ed that Heard wrote on this topic
“Ms. Heard purported to write from the perspective of ‘a public figure representing domestic abuse’ and claimed that she ‘felt the full force of our culture’s wrath for women who speak out’ when she ‘spoke up against sexual violence,’” the court documents state.
To be clear, Heard never actually mentioned Depp by name in this piece.
However, the lawsuit says the op-ed was dependent "on the central premise that Ms. Heard was a domestic abuse victim and that Mr. Depp perpetrated domestic violence against her."
The lawsuit goes on to say that Heard's op-ed cost Depp his job as Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
Depp and Heard got divorced in 2016 after just 15 months as husband and wife.
Shortly afterward, Heard's accusations of domestic violence went public, with portions of a deposition Heard gave years ago making the viral rounds just a few months ago.
"Johnny and I refer to his other personality, the part of him that is present when he beats me up," Amber said in this revealing interview. "We call that the monster. And have called [that] the monster for years."
The deposition is 471 pages in length.
At one point in it, Heard says of Depp: "I was petrified of the monster."
The actress went on to detail how Depp hurled a phone at her face in the pasts and how he has grabbed and pulled her by the hair.
However, Depp has alleged the opposite; he has said that Heard actually abused him, writing in this new lawuit:
"Ms. Heard is not a victim of domestic abuse, she is a perpetrator."
He claims he had to have his finger surgically re-attached after Heard allegedly threw a vodka bottle at him, for example.
In these just-filed court papers, Depp's legal team writes that "87 newly obtained surveillance camera videos" help to "conclusively refute" the abuse allegations.
Earlier this year, the Golden Globe winner submitted new information in a separate defamation lawsuit against The Sun.
He took the newspaper to task for running with the rumor that he asssaulted Heard on numerous occasions.
“Mr. Depp filed new and previously unseen evidence with the U.K. court, including security camera video clips of Ms. Heard’s face in the days following her false beating claims, sworn depositions taken in 2016 from neighbors, eyewitnesses and building personnel who interacted with Ms. Heard in the ensuing days, and more,” attorney Adam Waldman told Us Weekly on January 22.
This is all a very ugly and sad situation.
In a statement from Heard's representative in response to the $50 million defamation suit, the actress says;
"This frivolous action is just the latest of Johnny Depp’s repeated efforts to silence Amber Heard. She will not be silenced.
"Mr. Depp’s actions prove he is unable to accept the truth of his ongoing abusive behaviour.
"But while he appears hell-bent on achieving self destruction, we will prevail in defeating this groundless lawsuit and ending the continued vile harassment of my client by Mr. Depp and his legal team."
Depp, it should be noted, is in serious debt.
The ugly divorce between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard was settled long ago, but the brutal abuse allegations still weigh on the minds of fans.
Now, new and lengthy court documents have come to light from their 2016 depositions.
These papers shed new light on Amber and Depp's claims.
The Hollywood Reporter got a hold of some transcripts from Amber Heard's 2016 deposition.
2016 was when Amber and Johnny divorced, and when the world learned of Depp's years of alleged domestic violence.
Though the accusations became public, along with upsetting testimony from eyewitnesses, much was kept under wraps during the divorce.
Amber and Depp compromised by releasing a joint statement, affirming that neither of them intended to hurt the other, and that neither of them lied.
Even when text messages surfaced appearing to show that Depp's team knew about the alleged abuse, the exes largely moved on.
But now, through these court documents, we know more.
"Johnny and I refer to his other personality, the part of him that is present when he beats me up," Amber said in her 2016 deposition.
"We call that the monster," Amber revealed. "And have called [that] the monster for years."
The total length of the deposition was 471 pages.
Amber admitted: "I was petrified of the monster."
Within the deposition, Amber recalls an incident in which Depp, then her husband, allegedly attacked her.
She describes him hurling her phone at her "as hard as he could," striking her in the face.
Amber says that he grabbed her by her hair during this alleged explosion of violence, prompting her to scream out for help.
She recalled that, during the incident, Depp "broke a lot of glass things that left glass on the floor."
In addition to the shards of glass, she described the room being littered with silver candlesticks and a lamp.
Though this is far from the first story of Depp trashing a room, this story is far more alarming.
Amber Heard's testimony is not the only voice within the deposition.
There was testimony from the Los Angeles Police Department officers who responded to the incident.
Raquel Pennington, Amber's close friend, revealed in testimony that she had been in the adjacent apartment.
She testified that she had come to Amber's penthouse at her request, where Amber told her that she had been hit in the face with a phone.
Raquel testifies to having witnessed Depp swing around a bottle and knock items off of countertops, and to have heard him yelling.
She says that it was only Depp's security's arrival that diffused the situation, as they convinced him to leave.
She also says that she had taken "dozens" of photos of Amber's bruises over the years.
As you may recall, there was a great deal of backlash over Johnny Depp's casting in The Crimes of Grindelwald.
So much so that some lifelong Harry Potter fans boycotted the film, and some took to calling it "The Crimes of Johnny Depp."
Depp was clearly and openly frustrated that people insisted upon bringing up the serious accusations of domestic violence against him.
Some believe that this is why, in September of 2018, Johnny Depp suddenly made accusations of his own against his ex-wife.
He claimed that Amber had punched him in the face, twice.
Within the 2016 deposition, Amber was asked if she had ever been violent towards Depp.
In 2016, when Amber Heard was asked if she had ever struck, slapped, or thrown an object at Depp, she answered.
She said that she "did her best" to defend herself against her larger, stronger husband during his alleged violent outbursts.
Domestic violence, particularly during a divorce, can be a complicated issue.
Some victims may defend themselves. Some abusers may accuse their victims of having started it all.
With celebrities, waters are further muddied simply because one star's fans may be more outspoken than another's.
As any of us who've viewed any comments sections have discovered to our chagrin, Depp retains many fans who are his ardent defenders.
If none of the evidence made public so far has changed their mind, it seems unlikely that anything in this deposition will
Disney has officially confirmed that they’re moving forward on a new Pirates of the Caribbean movie without Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow, the only part of those movies that was at all memorable to anyone. Seriously, what happened in those movies that didn’t involve Johnny Depp? Could you think of a single thing without looking it up? I didn’t think so.
Disney’s president of production Sean Bailey confirmed that the plan is to make a new movie without Depp in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
You’ve hired Deadpool scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick to work on a possible Pirates of the Caribbean reboot. Can Pirates survive without Johnny Depp?
We want to bring in a new energy and vitality. I love the [Pirates] movies, but part of the reason Paul and Rhett are so interesting is that we want to give it a kick in the pants. And that’s what I’ve tasked them with.
To be fair, they could make basically any pirate movie and call it Pirates of the Caribbean. It’s based on a boat ride where some drunk pirates chase women around. All they have to do to succeed here is not try to recreate Johnny Depp’s character and focus on making a good movie that people want to see. But this is Disney we’re talking about so I give them about 50-50 odds here.
This seems to be related to the declining profits on the last Pirates and not based on the eight people declared Depp cancelled after his acrimonious divorce with Amber Heard during which they both accused the other of being abusive. The accusations haven’t hurt Depp’s career, as he just appeared in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald and has half a dozen other movies in production or pre-production.
