Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard Have a Weird ‘Game of Thrones’ Obsession

Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard are a cute couple. It’s just a fact. They’re so great that other, loser Hollywood stars resent them for their greatness. So what do cute down-to-Earth celebrities with too much time and money (despite busy work lives and a baby at home) do? Make Game of Thrones fan videos because they’re amped.

It’s got them in costumes as everyone’s favorite incest couple, oversized musical instruments, the catchy Ramin Djawdi theme song, awkward sword fights, everything you need to be twee and cute about your TV obsession. You name it, their weird video has it.

Will it replace the actual theme song on HBO? Hopefully, for one episode. Please HBO?

If you came looking for some HBO-level material, well this is the wrong show for that. But Bell has been in that show.

Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard Party Hard With Some Post Golden Globes ‘Settlers of Catan’

Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard got pretty crazy after the Golden Globes last night. Yeah, that’s right. They played Settlers of Catan.

On Instagram, Kristen Bell shared a picture of herself and her husband, still fully decked out in their fancy ensembles, getting serious about a game of Settlers of Catan.

Let the after party begin. @daxshepard @goldenglobes @settelersofcatan #GoldenGlobes #settelersofcatan

The good news if you are an avid Settlers of Catan player is now your have pictorial proof that two attractive people have enjoyed the game. You should really hold on to this glory, cause this game will never get any cooler than this. Also, it’s still not that cool.

Kristen Bell on Teaching Her Daughters to Give Back: ‘I Tell My Kids That the World Is Just Our Extended Family’

Kristen Bell
Ari Michelson

For Kristen Bell, her little family of four is part of a much bigger picture.

“The way I see it, we are all on Team Human, and I tell my kids that the world is just our extended family,” Bell, 36, said in an article she penned for the November issue of Parents.

Bell shares her two daughters, Lincoln, 3½, and Delta, almost 2, with husband Dax Shepard. And in the Bell Shepard household, giving back is a priority.

“When I bring my girls along with me to volunteer and try to teach them to share toys with each other, I want them to learn that it’s not just about sharing stuff, it’s the sharing of experiences,” the mother of two wrote about bringing her kids along to various charity events, including those hosted by Baby 2 Baby and Alliance of Moms.

She adds, “I don’t want my kids to be afraid to part with their things, as they’re just that — things.”

Recognizing this societal stress on materialism is what Bell is hoping to instill in her two girls.

“My wish is that my kids are able to discern between what’s disposable in life and what’s not,” The Good Place actress wrote. “Material items can go, but acts of kindness, love and giving must stay. Those are the true things that make us who we are.”

One tactic Bell said helps her family accomplish this is their “one in, one out” rule, which was inspired by one stranger’s random act of kindness. While shopping with one of her daughters, Bell wrote that a fellow mom approached her in the mall.

“The mom said her daughter had a toy giraffe at home and since she was learning the concept of giving, she’d like to give it to my daughter. We exchanged addresses and the following week we got this little stuffed giraffe in the mail,” she wrote, adding, “Now we have a ‘one in, one out’ rule. If we bring home a new puzzle, my toddler had to give an old one away, and she’s pretty good at this, despite how young she is.”

Kristen Bell Wedding Dress: First Look!

Kristen Bell may very well be the perfect celebrity.

She's beautiful, she's talented, she's open and honest, she posts adorable Instaram photos ... and the video of her crying over a sloth may be our favorite thing in the history of the Internet.

CBS Sunday Morning apparently agrees, as that program sat down for an exclusive interview with Bell this week.

The segment featured Bell opening up about her 2013 wedding to Dax Shepard, which was everything the Kim Kardashian-Kanye West wedding was NOT:

Small, intimate and private... with the public not even being privy to Bell's wedding dress choice. Until now!

"We got married in a tiny room in the Beverly Hills courthouse," Bell says in the following video. "And it was still one of the best days of my life."

As you can see above and below, the Veronica Mars star selected a short-sleeved, all-black ensemble that tied at the waist and which as topped by a statement necklace.

Instead of a traditional bouquet, she carried two flowers.

Bell also spoke glowingly of her husband.

"He's a wonderful father," she said, tearing up during the interview when delving into Shepard's history.

"He was an addict for many, many years, and he pulled himself out of it.

"He's been sober for 11 or 12 years now ... and he knows how many times he's messed up. And how many times he's been really close to losing everything."

Bell - who attended San Diego Comic-Con this year to promote her new NBC sitcom, The Good Place - explained that in the end, it all comes down to family for her.

And it always will.

"I always think if I'm on my deathbed, what am I going to be thinking about?" she said. "And it won't be some random movie you participated in or some TV show. It will be my family."

Is there any doubt now that she's the perfect celebrity?

Kristen Bell’s ‘Mind Spins with Every Decision’: How Do I Balance Bathing My Kids and ‘Being Respectful to the Water Crisis’

While starring in two projects that have her portraying characters of questionable integrity, Kristen Bell says she’s recently become preoccupied with examining her own status as a “good” person and mom.

“My mind spins with every decision I make,” Bell, 36, told PEOPLE Thursday at San Diego’s Comic-Con International while promoting her forthcoming NBC series The Good Place, in which she plays a badly behaved woman who finds herself accidentally transported to an idyllic afterlife.

“I bathe my girls, but I don’t want to bathe them every night because there’s a water crisis in L.A. So what’s the balance of being respectful to the water crisis in Los Angeles, and keeping my kids clean?”

Kristen Bell

Even little trinkets for daughters Lincoln, 3, and Delta, 19 months, make the Bad Moms star question herself.

“Grandma brings a toy home, and she says, ‘I’m sorry I brought a new toy, but it was only $3.99,’ ” Bell added. “And what goes through my brain is wanting to sit her down and say, ‘If you paid $3.99 for this, how much do you think the person who made it got? How much do you think the worker in Bangladesh got?’ Those things actually cross my mind!”

The internal queries don’t stop there.

“When we go get a sandwich at a sandwich shop, I think, ‘Was this meat humanely harvested?’ ” she confessed. ” ‘If I’m going to give it to my kids, even if it’s super healthy, is there bad juju involved? Is this local? Is this sustainable?’ In the age of information when you can see your connectivity to the rest of the world, it’s alarming how many questions I feel, if you are socially responsible, are socially required to ask yourself.”

And there’s more.

“I went through a phase of, I don’t know, six months when I was like, ‘I’m going to buy my kids clothing made in America,’ ” Bell revealed. “I actually did 30 days buying everything — I did a challenge on Twitter called ’30 Day USA,’ where I was like, ‘I’m going to try to find everything made in America, and see if the industry actually does exist.’ And it was very difficult!”

She also gets a special kick out of dodging credit for the pay-it-forward moments she does indulge in.

“I think it’s actually more fun to be secretly generous because if you go to a restaurant and you’re like, ‘I’m going to slip this person 200 bucks. I’m going to do it.’ I don’t want them to see because when I leave the restaurant, I feel giddy because I feel like a secret superhero. Try it … What’s even cooler is when they don’t know where it comes from.”

“I think the karma is more infinite because people don’t believe that good people are the majority anymore,” explained Bell. “Human beings do not believe that good people are the majority. My data just tells me that’s wrong!”

Kristen Bell on Supporting Fellow Moms: ‘All of Us Are Wearing Yogurt and All of Our Hands Smell Like Urine’

Kristen Bell understands it’s easy to feel like a Bad Mom after scrolling through social media, but the mom of two wants everyone to realize that reality has often been polished.

“In the age of social media, when you can edit your life in beautiful pictures, it’s important to remind moms that all of us are wearing yogurt and all of our hands smell like urine,” the actress and humanitarian, 35, says in her cover story for Redbook‘s August issue.

“When you present an unrealistic idea of perfection to people, it’s not fair,” adds Bell, who has two daughters with husband Dax Shepard: Lincoln, 3, and Delta, 18 months.

With both her children past the baby stage, the Veronica Mars alum is trying to find the balance between being a friend to her girls while still providing them with plenty of structure.

“Recently I’ve had an epiphany that if I’m as nice to my daughter as I want to be, she’s not going to respect me,” she confesses. “Giving your kids strong boundaries is good for them, because if you just let them do whatever they want, you raise a jerk.”

Between parenting duties, a marriage, and a flourishing career, Bell is a busy woman — and as such, she has no qualms about saying no to the things that take her away from her children.

“I don’t let myself feel guilty about not committing to things anymore,” she says when asked what surprises her most about being a working mother. “How I position it in my head is that I have more of an obligation to my daughters than I do to anybody else.”

The voice behind protagonist Anna in Disney’s hit Frozen has had her fair share of challenges in both parenting and her marriage to Shepard, 41.

But their struggles — including overcoming hurdles associated with anxiety and depression for Bell and addiction and childhood molestation for Shepard — have only made them stronger.

“We fought a lot and I loved a dramatic exit. If I could slam a door, I felt so powerful. If I could get in my car and screech away, it was even better,” she admits. “He said to me, ‘If we have an issue, you can’t leave. We’re going to talk or I’m not going to do this with you.’

“I loved him so much that I was like, ‘I better get my act together,’ ” she adds.

Mila Kunis Jokes Daughter Wyatt Is ‘Crazy – She Would Just Walk Off the Ledge’

It didn’t take long for Mila Kunis to figure out one indubitable truth about raising her 18-month-old daughter Wyatt Isabelle.

She’s crazy. Kids are crazy,” the actress, 32, joked Tuesday at CinemaCon in Las Vegas. “I don’t really understand how they’re all alive.”

Kunis’ hilarious comments came as she was joined on the CinemaCon stage by Kristen Bell, Kathryn Hahn, Annie Mumolo, Jada Pinkett Smith and Christina Applegate, all of whom star with her in the upcoming film Bad Moms, an R-rated comedy film about, you guessed it, being a bad mom.

“There’s some part of me that responds to R-rated comedies, I don’t know why,” she told STX Chairman Adam Fogelson and over 4,000 movie theater owners. “I find fart jokes funny — I’m sorry, I do guys. I love these type of movies.”

While filming the movie, which hits theaters July 29, the topic of discussion on set was quite G-rated: it was all about the kiddos, as all the women have children.

“[Motherhood] is awesome,” Kunis said. “I feel like that’s all we ever talk about when we get together. We talk about kids. We’re all very lucky though. We all have little ones. It’s great.”

But it’s also a fun challenge.

“Prior to human acknowledgement of ‘Hey, let me keep my child safe,’ if [Wyatt] was here, she would just walk off the ledge,” Kunis said, referencing husband Ashton Kutcher‘s recent anecdote. “She has no concept of depth, which to me … I just don’t get it.”

Kristen Bell Talks About Noisy Mornings with Her Daughters: ‘They Wake Up Screeching and Screaming’

Kristen Bell wants to know why her kids wake up screaming.

During a Monday appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The Boss actress talked about her not-so-quiet mornings with her daughters Lincoln, 3, and 15-month-old Delta.

“It’s a circus. It’s a circus for sure. I love it. I love them,” Bell, 35, told host Ellen DeGeneres. “But, you know what? You know where we could do better? Why does everyone wake up screaming?

She continued: “Like, why don’t they tell you that? Like, ‘they’re going to wake up screaming for, like, four years.’ You wake up — the moment you wake up, you’re in, like, a horror movie, because everyone in the house is screaming bloody murder!”

The mom of two lamented that her young children don’t make her coffee in the morning: “I kind of thought maybe they would, or at least when they get older, right? And they don’t,” she joked. “They wake up screeching and screaming… ”

Despite the loud mornings and lack of freshly-brewed coffee, Bell said that motherhood has made her more comfortable with giving advice, namely about her latest health kicks.

“I’m so into health food and just just healthy living that my girlfriends and my friends, I feel like, are a little bit over it,” she said. “Because I’ll walk into the room and be like, you guys, does everybody know about selenium?!”

Kristen Bell & Mila Kunis on Instagram: "Praying for Kanye"!!

Kanye West may not have the support of sister-in-law Kylie Jenner, but at least he's receiving prayers from funny ladies Kristen Bell, Mila Kunis and Kathryn Hahn.

In a hilarious photo Bell posted to Instagram, the three actresses are seen holding lighters in vigil for the troubled rapper.

Kristen Bell, Mila Kunis and Kathryn Hahn

"On set and #prayingforkanye #BADMOMS #MilaKunis #kathrynhahn," Bell wrote in the caption.

The three are currently shooting Bad Moms, a new movie also starring Christina Applegate and Jada Pinkett-Smith.

Naturally, her post was in jest, but the rapper certainly has been giving everyone something to pray about over the past couple months. His apoplectic Twitter rants and recent SNL meltdown have many folks concerned.

In fact, Rhymefest, a former friend and collaborator, recently said he thought Kanye was in need of "spiritual and mental" counseling, suggesting Yeezy's problem may be deeper than just extreme arrogance and a penchant for drama.

Earlier today, we reported that Kanye's wife Kim Kardashian may be forcing him to go to anger management therapy to deal with his issues.

Bell just joined Instagram this week, but she seems to really be getting the hang of the social media platform already.

Yesterday, she posted an adorable photo of herself kissing hubby Dax Shepherd, giving us all #lovegoals.

We're sure Kanye won't mind being the butt of Kristen's joke. He loves that sort of stuff.

But if he does mind, we're sure you'll be hearing it here.

Kristen Bell: We’re So Close to Ending Polio

Kristen Bell polio vaccination

When Kristen Bell found out that polio is still an issue for young children around the world, she knew she had to get involved.

“It’s a viral disease and it mostly attacks children under the age of 5 — it robs them of their mobility,” the actress, 35, tells PEOPLE. “I have two children under the age of 5, and I can tell you, their mobility is currently their most prized possession.”

“Their ability to scoot around, run around, jump off of things — I couldn’t imagine if they didn’t have the ability to do that,” she continues. “Thinking about what my kids would be like if they had polio, it’s unacceptable. I don’t want any mother to have to think, ‘What if my kid has polio?’ ”

Bell has joined Rotary’s This Close campaign to educate people and raise funds for the eradication of the disease.

“I think it’s so great that the campaign’s message is optimism,” she says. “In 2015, there were less than 50 cases reported. This is such an accomplishable goal. I’m raising awareness, and being optimistic about polio’s end is my way to stand by the campaign.”

Bell — who is also a spokesperson for This Bar Saves Lives, which donates a packet of food to a child in need for every snack bar sold — hopes her commitment to giving back is something she can instill in her daughters, Lincoln, 2, and Delta, 9 months.

“I always want to expose them to other lifestyles, other demographics, other income levels,” she explains. “I think it’s wildly important for someone’s sense of character to have seen things outside their bubble. I want my girls to know that we are extraordinarily lucky, and we have an obligation and responsibility to help everyone else.”

"Despite being incredibly busy, Kristen Bell took the time to make a little 6-year old girl's day... I'll admit, I've watched the video of her hearing from Anna/Kristen Bell, around 50 times, just to watch her face light up, and to hear her giggle and see her smile."

Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard: Our 2-Year-Old Quotes Game of Thrones

With two young daughters at home — not to mention two busy acting careers — Kristen Bell and husband Dax Shepard have a pretty packed schedule that leaves little time for socializing.

So when it came time to shoot a new ad campaign with Samsung appliances, there wasn’t that much acting involved because the clips mirror their own chaotic lives!

“The premise of this commercial is we have two kids, all of our friends have two or more kids, going out to a restaurant is suicide, so if you want to hang, it’s gonna be a house party,” Shepard, 40, tells PEOPLE. “It revolves around us trying to hang out with our friends and prepare for that.”

PEOPLE caught up with the House of Lies actress, 34, and former Parenthood star Shepard, who shared what adorable milestones their 2-year-old and 5-month-old daughters are reaching (spoiler alert: one of them quotes GoT!), how they celebrated Mother’s Day — and whether or not their kids are Frozen fans.

The clips really mirror your lives then — can you talk a little bit more about the challenges that come with having two kids and balancing a social life?

Shepard: Because of Kristen’s really busy schedule and my busy schedule, all three of these commercials have been shot on weekends because it’s been the only slots that we both have. That also means that our kids are on set most of the day, and it’s weirdly about the most one-on-one time Kristen and I have gotten with each other over the last six months. When we film ’em, it’s just her and I interacting for 10 straight hours, and it’s actually a really neat little vacation for us.

Bell: We pretty much hold hands the whole day while we shoot because when we’re at home, it’s mano a mano. One person’s got one kid, the other person’s got the other kid. So it’s a treat to get to shoot these things and work together.

Shepard: It’s our date night.

You’ve worked together before — sometimes they say you shouldn’t work with your significant other, but it works out pretty well for you two.

Shepard: I think the rule of thumb is it either is a terrible idea and explosive, or it’s perfect, so we got lucky in that we really love working together. But we worked together the first time when we had only been dating for a few months, so maybe because we started that way or something. There’s nobody I like working with more.

Bell: There’s a lot of trust involved because we know each other’s intentions and brains so well that to have an ally on set is lovely.

It sounds like you two have such a healthy balance—what’s your secret to communicating so effectively?

Bell: We have a really specific family calendar because in order to maximize snuggle time for anybody, everything has to be organized, and we have to make sure no appointments overlap, and we have to make sure there’s always someone around for each kid. To stay working parents, I think the biggest trick is, we’ve become extraordinarily territorial of our home time with them. We won’t let anything eat into it.

Shepard: It’s worked out in the cosmos where we are rarely working at the same time, but one of us always has more of a time commitment than the other. For the last eight weeks, Kristen’s been shooting this Melissa McCarthy movie, which means she is on set 12 hours a day, but that just means four of the seven days, I’m there, and I’m bringing the kids to set twice a day. You know, what it really means is every single second that we’re not working, we’re here with the kids.

Kristen’s been busy with filming, but did you guys get a little down time to celebrate Mother’s Day?

Shepard: We were shooting on Mother’s Day. The kids had secretly ordered a new marble island for her that she discovered when she got home.

Bell: Yes, they got me a very nice countertop for my kitchen, which — as a mom who does cook like a banshee — it is euphoric in my kitchen now.

What thoughtful, practical children you have!

Shepard: I think it’s just impressive that they knew the contractor’s cellphone number because they’re not even allowed to use phones.

With the genes they’ve got, your kids must be pretty hilarious — what’s the funniest thing they’ve done lately?

Shepard: Our oldest one is talking a lot now, and obviously the things that she parrots are hilarious. We’re big Game of Thrones fans, so we’ve trained her to say, “Winter is coming.” And “You know nothing, Jon Snow.” These are catchphrases of hers. You know, standard stuff like that. We dress her up in Jon Snow’s outfit — I should say Kristen dresses her up in Jon Snow’s outfit.

Bell: I got her a pretty cool chainmail suit with a big sword and a hood and a nice sort of felted, fake-fur knight-watch cape, and I made her stand on her—

Shepard: —castle-shaped jungle gym—

Bell: —yeah, and she didn’t understand a lick of it, but it really made me happy.

Are they big Frozen fans?

Bell: They don’t watch TV — they know nothing about it.

So the older one doesn’t even know that her mom is a princess?

Shepard: I mean, she thinks she’s a princess just based on Kristen’s own charisma. She holds her in pretty high regard. She doesn’t know what a princess is … so whatever’s highest in her mind is what Kristen is.

Your older daughter just turned 2 — how’d you celebrate?

Shepard: We probably would be disappointing to most people. We’re not big on pageantry to tell you the truth. We have tried to figure out how to live between a 4 and a 7, not a 1 and a 10, so I think our kind of parenting technique is to try not to get to a 10, and that means we’re not feeding her a whole birthday cake, and we’re not shooting fireworks off. We’re just trying to be less spectacular and get them more interested in the simpler things like bugs and nature and these kinds of things.

Bell: There were some balloons, and we did sing “Happy Birthday” quite a bit, which is, I suppose, her favorite song. She sang “Happy Birthday” to the carrots this morning at the grocery store, so if she is in a very good mood or likes you a lot, she’ll hit you with a “Happy Birthday.” This morning I guess she was a fan of the carrots.

Kristen, any scoop you can give me on Frozen 2?

Bell: Ugh! Believe me, if I had the scoop, I would whisper it in your ear. I know nothing, Jon Snow.

Shepard: We are ecstatic, though. We were waiting for two years with fingers crossed that this would happen, so this is the biggest news of the year.

Bell: It was such a fun experience. We’re still all really, really close, but even the creative team — we don’t have much control over whether or not we do a Frozen 2. We’re so excited that they decided to do it so we can all get back together again soon and hopefully give the people what they want!
