If there’s one thing people try to avoid in life, it’s seeing their great-grandmother naked. If you’re interested in seeing someone old enough to be your great-grandmother naked, you should follow Madonna on Instagram.
Is it just me or does it look like she had her belly button filled in?
How much Botox and photoshop can a human body withstand before it just says “enough?”
Is anyone still asking for this at this point? I guess maybe Snoop Dogg who responded “I need u.”
At least it’s her body this time and not just her face photoshopped on a 20-year-old.
I’m not actually breaking new ground by saying Madonna looks like someone’s trashy Florida grandmother here. 30 Rock was making jokes about Madonna refusing to accept that’s old back in 2010 when the singer was only in her early 70s, saying she was trying to “cling to her youth” with “Gollum arms.”
But much like Madonna’s lady parts, jokes about her trying to be a teenager in her 60s are a bottomless pit that can be drilled for oil by basically anyone without ever hitting the bottom.
The post Madonna, A Portrait of Graceful Aging as Ever, Got Basically Naked on Instagram appeared first on The Blemish.
Madonna is like 80 years old or something and she refuses to acknowledge that. Women her age should not be shooting naked videos in the bathtub. Seriously, I’m surprised she didn’t sit on her boobs in that position.
Still, Madonna looks in the mirror and sees a 20-something looking back. It’s basically the opposite of body dysmorphia.
Okay, that’s clearly not Madonna’s body, right?
It’s such a bad job that you’d think it was a joke but she posted that years ago and there was no wonky “hehe, that’s photoshopped, funny, right?” It’s not a famous picture, it wasn’t a meme, the intent was clearly for people to think that’s Madonna.
The pictures is actually of a woman named Amelia Goldie.
That is really something. This has been on Madonna’s Instagram for like six years, which means at the time, Goldie was 22 and Madonna was well over 100.
The lesson here is don’t photoshop your head onto someone else’s face, and if you absolutely must do so, don’t photoshop your head on the body who hadn’t even been born the first time Al Roker wished you a happy birthday.

VMAs flashback! Madonna's costumer reveals backstory for iconic 1990 look
It seems that Madonna is pretty dead set on the whole “being a stupid asshole who everybody hates” thing that she’s been doing for the past forty years or so. And even thought the people closest to her are telling her to ix-nay on the unt-kay act, Page Six reports she’s having none of it.
“I worshipped her, we all did,” said someone who has worked with Madonna in recent years and has ties to her inner circle. “I still do, but I’m disappointed. It’s like she’s selling out to keep getting attention and she doesn’t know how weird she’s coming off. I keep hoping she’ll snap out of it.”
Let’s be honest here, “selling out to keep getting attention” basically describes Madonna’s entire life. When she was in high school, before she was famous, she was basically know for being the really smart girl who was constantly flashing her panties. That’s 100% true, by the way.
Some insiders believe this is because her publicist Liz Rosenberg retired a few years ago.
“No one around her today can tell her anything,” said Brad Jeffries, who choreographed for Madonna for years, including the “Like a Virgin” tour, and was also friends with Rosenberg. “Liz could, but she’s gone. That’s why [Madonna] seems to be going so deep into the crazy right now. I defend her right to sleep with 25-year-olds because if she were a 61-year-old guy sleeping with 25-year-old women no one would blink an eye. But the way she’s doing it comes off a little desperate.”
Yeah, sleeping with people half your age to stick it to your ex is the least-crazy thing Madonna has done in recent years. It’s really the running around with a British accent and an eyepatch like she’s auditioning for Pirates of the Caribbean.
The good news, then, is that while this COVID-19 lockdown has us all inside and bored and going a little crazy, Madonna will still be doing dumb shit for us to laugh at.

The Queen of Soul got a send-off at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards.
The network aired Franklin’s Oct. 9, 1970, performance of Dionne Warwick’s “I Say A Little Prayer,” which she covered for her album Aretha Now. MTV also played Franklin’s 1967’s “Respect” for the ending credits.
Before giving Video of the Year to Camila Cabello, Madonna delivered a speech in which she outlined the role Franklin had played in launching her own career.
“Aretha Louise Franklin changed the course of my life. I left Detroit when I was 18. 35 dollars in my pocket. My dream was to make it as a professional dancer. After years of struggling and being broke, I decided to go to auditions for musical theater,” she said.
Further discussing her past experience, Madonna recalled her early years as a struggling artist.
“I had no training or dreams of ever becoming a singer but I went for it. I got cut and rejected from every audition — not tall enough, not blend-in enough, not 12-octave range enough, not pretty enough. Not enough,” she said. “And then one day a French disco sensation was looking for backup singers and dancers for his world tour. I thought, ‘Why not? The worst that can happen is I can go back to getting robbed, held at gunpoint and being mistaken for a prostitute in my third floor walkup that was also a crackhouse.’ That’s right, I’m a Rebel Heart.”
“So I showed up for the audition and two very large French record producers sat in the empty theater, daring me to be amazing. The dance audition went well. Then they asked me if I had sheet music and a song prepared. I panicked. I had overlooked this important part of the audition process,” she said. “I had to think fast, my next meal was on the line. Fortunately one of my favorite albums was Lady Soul by Aretha Franklin. I blurted out ‘You Make Me Feel’… silence. ‘You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman.’ Two French guys nodded at me. I said, ‘You know, by Aretha Franklin.'”
She continued: “They looked over at the pianist, he shook his head. ‘I don’t need sheet music,’ I said, ‘I know every word. I know the song by heart, I will sing it a cappella.’ I could see that they did not take me seriously — and why should they? Some skinny ass white girl is going to come up here and belt out a song by one of the greatest soul singers that ever lived? And a cappella … I said, ‘Bitch, I’m Madonna.’ No, I didn’t, I didn’t say that. ‘Cause I wasn’t Madonna yet. I don’t know who I was. I don’t know what I said, I don’t know what came over me.”
After sharing the beginning of her journey as a singer, Madonna concluded: “So you’re probably all wondering why I’m telling you this story. There’s a connection, because none of this would’ve happened — could’ve happened — without our lady of soul. She led me to where I am today and I know she influenced so many people in this house tonight, in this room tonight, and I want to thank you, Aretha, for empowering all of us. R-E-S-P-E-C-T. Long live the queen.”
Twitter had many opinions on Madonna’s speech with many mentioning Travis Scott, who was the first person to say a tribute to Franklin. “Rest in peace to the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin,” he said in the midst of his performance.

In the days leading up to the big event, VMA’s executive producer Jesse Ignatovic revealed in an interview with Variety that the tribute set was their “big focus,” although he admitted that it was “a scramble” to put together at such late notice.
“We have to make sure whatever we do is true to her art,” he said. “We don’t want to do anything too kooky, it’s got to be organic.”

Since the legend’s death last week, there have been a flood of tributes from her fellow musicians and other pop culture luminaries. Ariana Grande shared her love for Franklin on social media, and later delivered a tearful version of “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

Feng Shui has been a Chinese cultural practice for thousands of years. The practice involves arranging the items in your home, office, or wherever in a manner that encourages a positive energy flow through the room.
People from all types of backgrounds, including some very prominent celebrities, have become familiar with Feng Shui practices, and found ways to integrate the beliefs into their own lives. Check out a few of the most popular celebs we found to be believers in the art of Feng Shui.
Johnny Depp has been a known believer in the power of Feng Shui for years. He owns many different homes all around the world, and they are all built to please his Feng Shui needs. Depp even has his own private Feng Shui expert on the payroll.
Feng Shui and Madonna are two words that will generate numerous responses when searched through Google. Madonna has long been a believer in liberal and spiritual ways of enhancing life, including a strong display of Feng Shui in her multi-million dollar mansion.
Spielberg had his home built to accommodate the arrangement suggestions of Feng Shui. Feng Shui is a strong belief in the particular energies of wind and water. This belief is why you will often see large fountains and water-centered recreation areas around the homes of celebrity believers.
Tommy Hilfiger has been known to incorporate the concepts of Feng Shui in his showroom floor plans and designs. The color and fashion of his clothing designs and the energy put forth in his creativity show that Hilfiger’s Feng Shui is in order.
Bill Gates believes so strongly in the concepts of Feng Shui that he had his multi-million dollar home built from all natural materials to be more coalescent with the surrounding landscape. Bill’s beliefs are clearly leading to something great in his case.
Oprah Winfrey’s belief in the powers of Feng Shui have also treated her right. There’s no one who has experienced more success and prosperity in life than Miss Oprah Winfrey. Not to mention, there is nothing to be ashamed of when it comes to the aesthetic beauty of every interior design the woman touches.
Richard Branson has been said to use Feng Shui consultants on everything from the placement of the doors in his home to the use of aquariums and fountains. This super millionaire does everything he possibly can to promote success and vitality in his life.
Singer Sting uses Feng Shui to help keep his anger and other detrimental emotions in check. Keeping it copacetic is the main goal, and Sting sure has the ability to get what he wants.
Some breakups are pretty amicable and the two parties remain friends.
But others? Well.... others are less than amicable.
Click through the following photos and stories to remember the splits that resulted in anger, bitterness and many mean social media posts:
1. Taylor Swift & Calvin Harris
2. Johnny Depp & Amber Heard
3. Kailyn Lory & Javi Marroquin
4. Madonna & Sean Penn
5. Matt Damon & Minnie Driver
6. Kim Kardashian & Kris Humphries
Madonna may not exactly be in vogue anymore, but she’s got cultural capital. When she speaks, the people listen. Whitney Houston is similarly an artist of yestertear, but she’s made her mark, and she can even make posthumous headlines. Put the two divas together and you’ve got a 2017 story.
Or in this case, a 1990s story. In a newly revealed letter to perpetual supporting actor John Enos, Madonna lets the world know how she really feels about Whitney:
“I have made so many people angry that I’m being punished and basically made to be quiet and sit in a corner, whole other less interesting and exciting people are reaping the benefits of the roads I’ve paved.
“It’s so unequivocally frustrating to read that Whitney Houston has the music career I wish I had and Sharon Stone has the film career I’ll never have. Not because I want to be these women because I’d rather die, but they’re so horribly mediocre and they’re always being held up as paragons of virtue and some sort of measuring stick to humiliate me.”
Horribly mediocre? We get it Madonna, you wrote “Material Girl” but you also wrote “Die Another Day.” I’m pretty sure you’re acquainted with mediocrity. This is not the first time Madonna has dealt with her anger management problems.
Celebrity domestic violence occurs even in the most seemingly-stable relationships.
Hollywood violence knows no gender, age, or reason, and some of these allegations are gonna curl your toes.
Who dragged his partner with a car? Who beat someone's face in so badly she needed to be hospitalized? Whose own mother and sister accused this superstar, award-winning actor of physical abuse?
Things are about to get real deep and dark in here, so we hope you have a flashlight, a blanket, and a box of tissues, because ugh.
Also, hey, can someone remind these asshats that violence is never the answer?
That could be pretty helpful, all things considered.

Piers Morgan, a guy who is still a thing, is skeptical that Madonna and Lady Gage were raped. Not only that, but he believes that they are using PTSD as “an accessory” to garner sympathy.
Here’s what Piers had to say on the matter in a series of tweets.
Lady Gaga & Madonna have both made ALLEGATIONS of rape many years after the event.
No police complaint, no charges, no court case. https://t.co/N8oWjcMKAC

I wouldn't automatically believe anything either Madonna or Lady Gaga claimed about their lives. https://t.co/4JJcP17cjp

Basically, it’s another privileged white guy talking about something he’ll never know about and doesn’t understand.
Lady Gaga actually agreed to be interviewed by Piers, because she’s a boss. This didn’t stop Piers from taking a “meat suit” shot at her. Gaga shut that down quickly.
I rather admire @ladygaga for agreeing to an interview after my criticisms.
Should be a fascinating debate.
I'll press my meat suit.

Can’t wait for Piers to tell Gaga how she should be feeling.
On The Late Late Show with James Corden, Madonna confessed that one time she plied Michael Jackson with white wine and got him to make out with her.
Why is she only bringing this up now? She told Corden:
“I haven’t had the chance to talk about it, no one ever asks me.”
That would be a weirdly specific question to ask, and kind of a weird one, considering his rape mansion full of child porn and everything.
So, how did it go down?
“I did [make the first move on Jackson] … He’s a little bit shy. However, he was a willing accomplice. I did get him to, sort of, loosen up with a glass of Chardonnay. And it did wonders. It worked wonders.”
Check out her confession below:
Look, Madonna is a remarkably embarrassing human being, she just is.
She's also a legend, sure, but that doesn't give her a pass.
A lot of people think this is some age discrimination, like "what, Madonna is 58 years old so she can't be sexy and have fun anymore?"
And that's absolutely not the case.
No, if any person, no matter if they were 1 or 100 or any age in between, behaved the way Madonna behaves, it would be an honest-to-goodness shame, it really would.
It's just that she's so very, very desperate for attention. Like she can't handle the fact that perhaps her popularity isn't what it used to be, and she has to do stunt after stunt to just get a little bit more of the spotlight.
Come on, why else would she rock as many grills as she does?
And why else would she act like as hot a mess as she did last night?
Yep, buckle up, friends, because we've got a wild and wacky Madonna story to share with you right the hell now.
See, last night, Madonna hosted a charity gala for Malawi, the African nation where her 11-year-old son, David, was born.
She managed to raise over $7.5 million, which is amazing, it really is.
But boy, did she pull some ridiculous sh-t along the way.
Because Madonna's ex-husband, Sean Penn, was there too, right?
The two got married in 1985, but they stayed together for just four years before they got divorced.
There have been persistent rumors for years that he was majorly abusive to her, but she's denied those rumors, and she's even made it clear that she still has strong feelings for him.
Back in January, they did another charity gala together, and Madonna gave a speech all about how amazing she thinks Sean is.
During the speech, she got all gushy, telling him "I want to say that, Sean, I love you. From the moment that I laid eyes on you. And I still love you, just the same."
And, well, last night she took things a step further.
"I'm still in love with you," she told Sean.
And then, just when you thought things couldn't get any more romantic and/or creepy, she said that she would marry him again, right then and there -- if he bid $150,000 on a piece of jewelry.
And he did.
We're not sure about whether or not they've gotten hitched yet, but someone did have the presence of mind to play a wedding march.
Sean hopped on stage, crawled between Madonna's legs, and then handcuffed her.
Why? We may never know.
But, hilariously enough, Madonna did joke while Sean was handcuffing her that "For once, he's not the one being arrested."
Oh, Madonna, you're in love with a criminal! How sweet!
Best of wishes to this former, maybe present couple, we guess.
The VMAs aren't like other award shows.
But unlike when someone you met on Tinder tells you they're not like other girls/guys, in this case, the claim is legit.
You never know what might happen at the VMAs.
Kanye might interrupt someone's acceptance speech.
Nicki Minaj might call out Miley Cyrus.
Kanye might interrupt everyone's acceptance speeches.
You really never know.
In fact, the only thing that's certain is: there will be some amazing performances.
Check out the gallery below to relive some of the most unforgettable musical moments from 32 years of the VMAs.
1. Beyonce: "Love on Top," 2011
2. Madonna: "Like a Virgin," 1984

4. Taylor Swift: "You Belong With Me," 2009
5. Eminem: "The Real Slim Shady"/"Way I Am," 2000
6. Diddy, Faith Evans, Sting: "I'll Be Missing You"
Some breakups are pretty amicable and the two parties remain friends.
Then there's the ones that just don't go down well and both parties throw jabs at one another on social media.

Tell us what you really thought of Madonna's tribute to Prince, BET!
On Sunday night at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards, Madonna took to the stage in order to honor the legendary artist, who died at the age of 57 back on April 21.
She opened her number with a rendition of "Nothing Compares 2 U" and was then joined by Stevie Wonder for a version of "Purple Rain."
Overall, the performance received mixed reviews online. Check it out for yourself before we move on:
While we expect the Twitterverse to get its proverbial panties in a bunch over pretty much anything, BET came out and surprised Internet users last night by actually throwing its own shade at Madonna.
With the BET Awards set for June 16, the network released a short promo on Twitter, teasing its own Prince tribute and stoking the fire of disapproval with by stating:
"Yeah, we saw that. Don't worry. We Got You."
Ouch. Pretty harsh, no?
Questlove, who introduced Madonna to the stage for her tribute performance, certainly thinks so.
He took to Twitter immediately to defend the Material Girl.
“Because of P’s well known love for the *poof* vanishing act. A lot of us are left feeling incomplete in the act of saying goodbye,” he wrote, adding:
“For starters it’s hard to accept him no longer being here. & in the upcoming award season for '17 there will be a gang of tributes. Naturally there will be folded arms & shade thrown because the Purple Standard is hard boots to fill & a lot of us don’t wanna come 2 grips w the fact that Prince – (an on the surface) face of health & invincible agelessness – succomb [sic] to something so… friggin basic."
Questlove concluded as follows:
“So I know there is gonna be A LOT of ‘feel a certain ways’ about who you want to see do his music justice – but you gotta put that aside y’all.
"Every Prince rendition will not be a life changing orgasmic xperience. Just to SING his work is brave enough. Again feeling are on high, and EVERYBODY wants and deserves a chance to say goodbye in their own way.
"But remember: there will be AMAs, SoulTrain, NAACP, mtv, GRAMMYS, and a gazillion other tributes.
"But the point is let’s not get ugly with playing the ‘Prince would and wouldn’t approve’ game."
What did you think of Madonna's tribute?
We've included it below, along with other memorable performance from the Billboard Music Awards:

Will people go after Madonna for what she did to a 17-year-old girl?
Madonna performed in Brisbane on Thursday. At the concert, she invited a fan, Josephine Georgiou, onstage for some conversation. Supposedly, Madonna had been eyeing her during the concert. Georgiou said in an interview with Australia’s The Courier Mail:
“Madonna had kind of noticed me and I thought she smiled at me while she was performing.
“Then, she talked to two guys at the side of stage and I thought I was imagining things but a lady came down and asked if I danced and if I knew the song Unapologetic B—ch.
“I said ‘f–k yeah’ and she asked ‘would you like to get up on stage?’ and I was like ‘Oh my God, yes’.”
Once onstage, Madonna told the crowd:
“She’s the kind of girl you just want to slap… On the a–… and pull…”
And right when she said that, she pulled Georgiou’s top down. Out came Georgiou’s breast. Madonna quickly responded, “Oh s–t, oh sorry, sexual harassment…You can do the same to me…”
People suggested Georgiou sue Madonna. To that, Georgiou responded,
“Seriously, why would I sue Madonna for the best moment of life?…
It was the best night.”
She also said:
“She was calling me a Victoria’s Secret model the whole time I was on stage, which is so flattering.”
Not only did Madonna sexually assault her, she’s a predator. Predators gain trust with young, innocent men and women with compliments and flattery. You don’t think so? Sexual predators have the “ability to charm, to be likeable, to radiate sincerity and truthfulness. This is crucial in gaining access to children, and the power of this tactic should not be underestimated.” Calling her a Victoria’s Secret model was straight from the predator’s playbook. Grooming someone doesn’t take years. It can take minutes.
Madonna also abused her position in the entertainment world and as a celebrity. We know celebs get away with a lot due to their place in the entertainment hierarchy. In that sense, they mimic those predators who use their positions of power to abuse children. You don’t think so? Read what else Georgiou said.
“It’s hilarious to me how much of a big deal it is to everyone – people just need to understand I was on stage in front of Madonna, I was looking her in eyes and most people would just melt into a pool on stage, so it was only because I was standing in front of her that I looked so surprised [bold for emphasis]. ”
Since it was Madonna, Georgiou can laugh it off. What if it was a university student at a downtown pub? What if they said the same thing as Madonna said, that he wanted to slap her on the ass and then pulled down her blouse? It’s pretty obvious what the result would be.
Even legal experts agree.
University of Queensland law expert Dr Paul Harper says on face value, pulling down a woman’s top in public to expose their breast is an act of sexual assault, if it’s non-consensual…
“The issue is, has the girl consented? By going up on stage you consent to some physical contact… you don’t expect to be exposed at a Madonna concert.
“If the woman doesn’t consent then it’s sexual assault.
Yet, here’s the twist.
Madonna’s been battling critics this whole week. Her performances in Australia haven’t received high praise. She’s appeared drunk onstage, shown up to concerts two hours late and while onstage, asks for someone to fuck her. Audience members get to watch her crawl around onstage wearing tiny top hats.
She’s a mess right now. Yet that’s okay. Who says you can’t drink onstage, show up late and act like an idiot?
Madonna says you can’t. Well, she says you’re a sexist and misogynist if you do.
A few days ago, Madonna went on Instagram and tried to turn the tables on her critics.
Thanks for supporting me. Too bad people don't know the art of acting and playing a character. I could never do any of my shows high or drunk. And yes underlying all of this is sexism and mysongony which proves that not only do we not get equal pay bUt we are still treated like heretics if we step out of line and think outside the box! . Sexism is alive and kicking but i am ❤️#livingforlove

It’s ironic that criticism of her performances is misogyny. Yet, telling a 17-year-old you want to slap her ass, pulling down her corset and exposing her breasts to a stadium full of people isn’t. Is this part of her “character” also?
The point is, if it’s not misogyny or sexual assault to pull down a young girl’s shirt in Madonna’s world, it’s not misogyny or sexism to to tell her what a shitty performer she’s turned into.
Madonna exposing her own breast in public is basically just another Tuesday. After all, she's been doing it since the 80s.
But when the material girl pulled down the top of an unsuspecting fan in the middle of a concert, well, that was a little unusual.
During a show in Brisbane, Australia, Madge brought an audience member on stage and began to gush over her.
"She's the kind of girl you just want to slap on the ass... and pull..." she said before yanking down the woman's top and revealing her bare breast to a sold-out stadium of concert-goers.
Luckily, the fan seemed to take it in stride and even gave Madonna a little side hug after re-adjusting her top.
"Oh my god, I am so sorry, sexual harassment!" exclaimed the singer in a mock attempt at an apology.
"You can do the same to me if you like," she added.
Unfortunately (or fortunately?), the fan declined the invitation.
This is just one in a series of recent disturbing events for Madonna, who is reportedly in angst over a custody battle with ex Guy Ritchie for their son Rocco.
A source close to the singer said that Madonna has been boozing and popping anti-anxiety meds, which has led to her bizarre behavior.
At a concert earlier this week in Brisbane, witnesses say she showed up two hours late then chugged from a bottle of tequila and crawled around onstage like an animal.
During the same show, she grabbed a flask from an audience member and downed whatever was in it.
Witness Madonna's latest antics below:
Have you ever dreamed of being famous? Wished you could drive a Lambo and kiss your day job goodbye? For many civilians, it can seem like celebrities have had everything handed to them. While in some cases this is undoubtedly true, there are a few stars who spent their time working their way to the top. Included here are a few celebrities who worked real jobs before they become famous.
While it may be surprising to know that Pitt attended college, he was actually only two credits short of his degree in journalism before the lure of the screen attracted him to LA. While living in Los Angeles and waiting for his big break, Pitt worked a variety of jobs, from delivering refrigerators to dancing around as a chicken.
Before making it the American Bandstand, pop icon Madonna worked as a showgirl in France for a time. In New York City, Madonna worked at a Dunkin’ Donuts stand in Times Square. Madonna managed to lose her job in a way most of us can only dream of, by squirting jelly donut filling all over a customer.
In spite of his outward appearance, Ashton Kutcher is a fairly intelligent man with time spent pursuing a biomedical degree at University of Iowa. Kutcher is rumored to have spent time sweeping cereal dust at a General Mills factory and frequently donated his blood to help with living expenses.
This famous actor had baseball dreams in high school that never quite panned out. Following his rejection from the Cincinnati Reds, Clooney decided to go to school and pursue a degree as a broadcast journalist. Before moving to LA, Clooney also worked as a tobacco farm hand and a shoe salesman.

Madonna – Also Legendary Pop Star
Madonna sports an art collection estimated to be worth around one hundred million dollars. No big deal. It’s just Madonna. A couple years ago, she sold one of her pieces for 7.2 million dollars, and gave the money to charity for girls education in Afghanistan and Pakistan. She has a piece by Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso, and Fernand Leger.
On Friday, the whole world mourned for the victims of the brutal coordinated terrorist attack on Paris. The hashtag #PrayForParis circulated on social media, in a slight effort to describe and express the grief so many people felt. Despite its polarizing nature, the instinct to pray for Paris was echoed by Madonna, during her Stockholm show on Saturday night.
How do we sensitively express shock, grief, fear, sympathy, and solidarity? For Madonna, that way was to give a stripped-down performance of “Like A Prayer,” and to give an emotional speech about celebrating life, even as we mourn those who died.
Madonna prefaced her performance of the song with some thoughts about why the crowd was assembled together, having fun, while the rest of the world was in mourning. She said she was going to cancel the show, before having decided against it as a form of protest.
“It’s been very hard for me to get through this show up to this point. So I need to take this moment to acknowledge the tragedy, the tragic killings, assassinations, and the senseless endings of precious life that occurred last night in Paris. Why am I up here dancing and having fun when people are crying over the loss of their loved ones?”
Madonna broke down during this speech, as tears filled her eyes at the thought of so much senseless and brutal loss of life. But even though the terror attacks could not be ignored at the venue, Madonna asserted that to cancel the show would be satisfying to the terrorists.
“That is exactly what these people want to do. They want to shut us up. They want to silence us. And we won’t let them. We will never let them! Because there is power in unity and I do believe that as much chaos and pain and senseless violence and terrorism that occurs around this world—not just in Paris—as much as that does occur, there is more goodness in this world. We are here to prove it.”
She continued through her tears, asking the audience for a moment of silence to honor the victims and to reflect on the state of the world.
“Before we do go one, I would like to have a moment of silence . . . say a prayer for the victims who died last night in Paris and for the families of those victims. So, here’s what I know how to do . . . I hope that you will all join me and we will sing this prayer together.”
Madonna then launched into what began as an acoustic version of her now-classic song “Like A Prayer,” echoing the sentiments of millions around the world who sent their prayers to Paris and expressed their grief through social media.
