Meryl Streep is on to you ladies. Man, they’re gonna need to start printing more awards because the second season of HBO’s Big Little Lies is coming for all of your awards. Nail ’em down now because this show is a’comin’!
I didn’t see the first season of Big Little Lies because I just simply didn’t want to see it. I saw all the good stuff on Mr. Skin, so what’s the point. I’m sure it’s great and all, I just don’t have room in my life for any more shows.
I know you guys seem to like the show, though. It’s critically acclaimed and won many awards, so it has artistic merit, I’m sure. I guess it’s just one more thing I’m supposed to care about and just don’t.
But hey, Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman are looking great, as is Shailene Woodley and Zoe Kravitz. Meryl’s looking a little worse for wear, but she’s a legend and can look however she damn well pleases.
I wonder if this season will have more cgi-dicks in it, like Alexander Skarsgard’s comically enormous cgi dick in season one. Fingers crossed! These liars, both big and little, return for a second season on HBO on June 9.
Contrary to what you might think, you’re not seeing double!
A day ahead of Ryan Phillippe‘s 44th birthday, the actor spent time with his two teenage children and shared an adorable, sepia-toned photo of the trio on Instagram.
In the shot posted on Sunday, Phillippe sits between daughter Ava, 19 (whose birthday was also on Sunday, a day before her dad’s) and son Deacon, 14, both of whom he shares with ex-wife Reese Witherspoon.
In the snap, the kids lovingly lean their heads in toward their dad and smile.
Phillippe, who captioned the post “me n mine ”, can be seen with his arm around Deacon — who looked and dressed just like his dad with square-rimmed black glasses, casual t-shirt, and a similar hairstyle.
While Deacon is the spitting image of his father, Ava is her mom’s clone.
Immediately after the Shooter actor posted the photo, the Internet went into a tizzy, with fans commenting in disbelief how the children looked exactly like a younger version of Phillippe and Witherspoon.
This isn’t the first time that fans have drawn comparisons between the parents and their kids. On Sunday, in honor of Ava’s birthday, Witherspoon posted a shot of her daughter on Instagram.
The image was enough to draw countless comments about their resemblance, with many users referring to the mother-daughter duo as “twins” or questioning if the photo was actually a throwback picture of Witherspoon.
The 42-year-old producer also revealed last year that Ava is often mistaken for her at events and premieres.
“People come up to her . We were at a premiere and they were congratulating her on her performance,” Witherspoon told E! News. “She’s like, ‘I’m not in the movie.'”
Since divorcing in 2006, Phillippe and Witherspoon have mutually co-parented their children. The couple were together for seven years before splitting, but have maintained a positive relationship, even as the Big Little Lies star moved on and married Jim Toth in 2011.

Following their divorce, Phillippe told Ellen DeGeneres during a guest appearance on her show that things between him and his ex-wife were working out well, despite some occasional juggling of parental responsibilities.
“It is so important as divorced parents to keep that connection,” he said in 2010. “It makes the kids feel better that the parents are interacting. We go to all the school events together, and we’re there for each other.”
Added Phillippe: “From one week to the next, you don’t know where you’re going to have to be for a promotional tour or on location. We’ve done a really good job with that, and our kids are happy and healthy and doing awesome.”

It has been quite a time in Hollywood since the New York Times published its exposé on Harvey Weinstein. A lot of actresses (and actors) have spoken up incidents they’ve had with Weinstein or other producers and directors. The latest actress to come forward is Reese Witherspoon, who says she was sexually assaulted by a director when she was 16, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
“[I feel] true disgust at the director who assaulted me when I was 16 years old and anger at the agents and the producers who made me feel that silence was a condition of my employment,” Witherspoon said. “And I wish I could tell you that was an isolated incident in my career, but sadly it wasn’t. I’ve had multiple experiences of harassment and sexual assault and I don’t speak about them very often.”
Earlier she reflected on the past week, in which multiple women in Hollywood have come forward about experiences of sexual harassment and assault, including some allegedly by disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein.
“This has been a really hard week for women in Hollywood, for women all over the world and a lot of situations and a lot of industries that are forced to remember and relive a lot of ugly truths,” Witherspoon said. “I have my own experiences that have come back to me very vividly and I find it really hard to sleep, hard to think, hard to communicate a lot of the feelings that I’ve been having about anxiety, about being honest, the guilt for not speaking up earlier, for not taking action.”
The Weinstein thing was just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to inappropriate behavior in Hollywood. There’s a culture of things being acceptable, just being “the way things are” that perpetuates this sort of behavior. Harvey Weinstein was hardly an isolated case. But Witherspoon sounds hopeful that this will be the moment when things will change.
“I feel really, really encouraged that there will be a new normal. For the young women in this room, life is going to be different because we have your back and it makes me feel better because, gosh, it’s about time.… I’m so sad that I have to talk about these issues, but I would be remiss not to,” she said.
You might be asking yourself why these stories are still news. I feel like I haven’t written about anything other than Hollywood sexual assault since the Weinstein story broke. But the fact that there are so many individual stories to report on shows that this isn’t a series of isolated incidents or a few bad actors, it’s a systemic problem that’s been largely ignored for decades, and that in itself is newsworthy.
Technically, she gets seventy cents on the dollar, so she doesn’t really need to run twice as hard. Maybe 30% harder.
Anyone seen Big Little Lies? Good show, a definite must watch. Liane Moriarty wrote the book of the same name, but she hasn’t gotten to a sequel yet. Witherspoon and co-star Nicole Kidman executive produced the HBO series. Count Witherspoon interested in a second season.
“Yeah, Nicole and I just spoke about it three days ago,” Witherspoon told E! News about a second season. “We’re talking to Liane Moriarty, who wrote the book, about how could these characters go on, what would happen? We definitely left it open-ended so there’s a possibility there.”
Did I mention Witherspoon executive produced? It was a hard battle to get to that position she says.
“I finally had my three hits,” she said, referring to her films “Gone Girl” and “Wild” and her HBO series “Big Little Lies.” “Finally, I feel like the story had changed. I am a producer.”
Look at me! I’m the producer now.
Witherspoon also talked about how women have to prove themselves way more than men. I feel like I’ve heard this before.
Women still have to prove themselves “twice as hard,” a process that can take “twice as long,” said Witherspoon. “A guy has one hit and it’s like, ‘Oh, he deserves an Oscar!'”
“A guy has a hit at Sundance and he gets Jurassic Park,” she added. “A woman has a hit at Sundance and she has to make six more movies.”
Well duh, that makes sense. Women don’t get the lead roles, only supporting roles, so naturally they have to do more movies to match the men. It’s simple math, so if you look at it that way, men and women really are equal in Hollywood.

Happy birthday to the newest member of the Mutant Ninja Turtles, Tennessee James!
Reese Witherspoon celebrated her youngest child’s upcoming fourth birthday with a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle-themed party over the weekend.
On Sunday, Witherspoon, 40, took to Instagram to share some photos from her preschooler’s big day. And while he officially turns 4 on Tuesday, the Witherspoon-Toth family were ready to party.
“Celebrating someone VERY special’s birthday today!!! (Two hints: he is a #NinjaTurtles fan and this is his cake…) #TMNT,” the mother of three wrote in a post, sharing an image of the themed confection.

Just two weeks ago, the family celebrated Ava’s 17th birthday, and the proud mom took to Instagram to share her love for her oldest child.
“Can’t believe my baby is 17 today! I love you, @avaphillippe. You’re gorgeous heart and loving spirit never cease to amaze me! I’m so lucky the universe let me be your mother. #HBD #17DancingQueen,” she wrote.

There is no questioning the fact that celebrities get to live in the most beautiful homes that are out there. Whatever the need or preference, the money and position that famous individuals have allow them to be able to live lives surrounded in luxury the rest of the population only gets to dream about.
The celebrities might pay a pretty hefty price tag for the awe inspiring homes they do have, but it doesn’t mean you can’t live like them, at least in part. Here are some of the most extravagant celebrity homes that are out there. Once you see these, you’ll be inspired to make your own home resemble the pieces of heaven that each of these houses feature.
Ellen and Portia’s Perfect Blend
There isn’t anything not to like about Ellen Degeneres and her supermodel wife Portia de Rossi. Their home in Beverly Hills features an open concept flow with cool color palettes and beautiful, rich beams mounted across the ceiling.
It’s clean and feels classy, country, modern, and chic all at the same time. It seems like only Ellen and Portia could really pull that off. If you want to achieve the same feel, stick to a bright, open concept and channel your inner country-mod goddess.
Get Spicy With Reese Witherspoon
Reese Witherspoon’s place feels much different than Ellen and Portia’s place. The view from outside feels rather Spanish Countryside. The inside is also chic and clean, but features much spicier punches of color in the kitchen.
The grand staircase is the statement of the house as it leads upstairs to an open loft area. The wood just screams rustic bliss and elegance. If you love comfortable, warm sophistication, this is the house to model your dreams after.
Get Southern with Katherine Heigl
Change directions a bit and head to the south to look at Katherine Heigl’s home which is actually located in California, but looks like it belongs somewhere in Georgia. Everything about it feels southern inspired, but put in modern times. For example, everything in the kitchen is stainless steel, but from the open design and large windows, to the double doors and area rugs the whole essence is southern classic.
It’s really very cool how all the celebrities take what they enjoy out of each era and mix and match to get exactly what they want in a home. Sometimes it’s colonial, sometimes it’s french countryside, sometimes it’s completely modern. The nice thing is that it’s your home so you get to decide. There isn’t any right or wrong way to do things.
Make Your Own Celebrity Status Home
The awesome thing is that you don’t have to be a celebrity to have a home that looks like one of theirs. Everything will depend on the budget you have, but no matter the amount of money you have, you can make something magical happen.
If you can afford it, have a designer come in to show you the best way to get everything that you want in a home. Be inspired by what the celebrities are doing and make it happen in your own home in a way that suits your style. If you don’t have the money, increase your skillsets in the DIY department.
Round up friends who are skilled at various things and trade labor for labor and skill for skill. Don’t be afraid to unleash your creative side. Everyone deserves a home that emulates who they are as a person. Don’t just watch the celebrities live. Live like the celebrities in the ways that you can.
It’s family first for Reese Witherspoon in 2016.
Witherspoon, who shared a variety of photos from the trip during the nearly week-long vacation, announced her sun-soaked arrival last Tuesday.
“#MadeIt… Vacation mode starts now,” she wrote.
The Oscar winner also posted an image of a gorgeous sunrise over the ocean with “2016” drawn into the sand.
“Looking good so far,” she captioned.
Witherspoon spent her “last day of vacation” in the pool with her and husband Jim Toth‘s adorable toddler on Sunday.
Wearing a polka dot one-piece and shades, Witherspoon beamed while Tennessee held tight to a flamingo floatie.
It appears the little boy already has his mother’s preppy fashion sensibility — his tiny trunks perfectly matched the pool toy!

Reese Witherspoon talks the talk. But she also walks the walk.
Perhaps most well known for her role as ditzy-but-bright Harvard law student in Legally Blonde, Reese Witherspoon has recently spoken out about sexism in Hollywood, and how she has tried to combat it throughout her 25-year career as a female actor. Witherspoon gave an empowering, inspiring speech at Glamour’s annual Women of the Year Awards, and it’s giving us serious Elle Woods flashbacks.
Witherspoon began her speech with a lighthearted quip about women in Hollywood: that younger actresses are often playing the roles written for older women. She referenced an Amy Schumer biopic, telling Amy, “I hope Amy Schumer and all the other nominees that when you consider making your biopic, you’ll give me the rights first, which would be great. Although Amy, I’ll have to play your grandmother in the movie (by Hollywood standards), and you’ll probably have to play your own mother.”
Witherspoon continued to chronicle the way she has been typecast and “pigeonholed” in her career because she transitioned to comedy from drama, and once directors learned she “could be funny,” they couldn’t see her as anything else—as if a woman can’t be multitalented as a comedic and a dramatic actor.
“I did comedies, they didn’t think I was serious. I did dramas, they didn’t think I was funny. And I got older and they didn’t think I could still be viable.”
Witherspoon then spoke at length about viability, and the fact that in Hollywood, once a woman reaches a certain age, she’s considered too old to be interesting any more. And hey, that age is usually like, 32. The hell?
Witherspoon then spoke about the lengths she has taken during her career to combat that thinking entirely, and how successful it’s been. Truly, she is inspiring not only because of these words, but also because of her actions.
“I’ve made movies all my life, for 25 years, since I was 14 years old. It was time to turn to myself and say, “OK, Reese, what are we going to do now?” The answer was very clear. My mother, who is here tonight, a very strong, smart Southern woman, said to me, “If you want something done, honey, do it yourself.”
So, I started my own production company, Pacific Standard Films, with the mission to tell stories about women.”
And tell stories about women she did. In its first year, her production company made both Gone Girl and Wild, in which Reese also starred. Both films were hugely successful, rising “to over half a billion dollars world wide and we got three Academy Award nominations for women in acting performances. So that is year one.”
It’s clear that Reese isn’t stopping anytime soon. She outlined her plans to adapt five more female-driven films based on books in the next few years, with two set for production next year.
Witherspoon’s words struck a chord with many women who work in fields that are male-dominated, which is most of them. Reese called attention to the disparity of her industry in funny ways, like referencing a [...]

Reese Witherspoon‘s biggest fans flocked to the red carpet to support the Oscar-winner on Friday night as she received the 29th American Cinematheque Award: her kids!
Joined by her children with ex Ryan Phillippe – Ava, 16, and Deacon Phillippe, 12 – Witherspoon was all smiles as she posed with her attractive brood and husband Jim Toth at Los Angeles’ Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel.
In an off-the-shoulder, form-fitted black dress, the actress beamed while standing with mini-me Ava, who wore green, and a tux-clad Deacon.
The star’s third child, Tennessee, with husband Toth, missed out on the activities, instead, spending the night at home.
Witherspoon told reporters it was “great” to have her family (her own mother was also on hand) along with her for the special honor, and revealed that her kids weren’t necessarily familiar with her work.

“They’ve never really seen me in very many films, so it should be interesting,” she told reporters before the ceremony. “I’m actually kind of, I have no idea what to anticipate. I know there’s going to be a lot of clips of me as a very young person. I think they’ll be a little bit stunned.”
The presentation included cute anecdotes from her famous friends and former co-stars, along with film clips.
“I’m really proud of so much,” the star told PEOPLE of her career. “Just the diversity the characters I’ve played. They’re important to me. My characters are like my friends. I really honor them and I feel really proud of the work that I’ve done in the last three years. Just creating more roles for other women.”

Three has never looked cooler.
The toddler, Witherspoon’s son with husband Jim Toth, celebrated his birthday on Sunday with some awesome shades.
In a photo shared to the Oscar winner’s Instagram, Tennessee posed in blue sunglasses and a white printed t-shirt that appeared to say, “Awesome.”
The 39-year-old’s little boy held a cup and dug his barefoot toes into the sand.
“Happy Birthday Sweet boy! 3 is a magic number,” Witherspoon captioned the pic.

The highlight of Tennessee’s big day? Definitely the killer chocolate cake.
“It’s all about that cake,” the Wild actress wrote on the photo sharing site.
The mouth-watering confection included thick frosting and M&Ms and was topped off with mini toy construction trucks.

Reese Witherspoon Celebrates Look-a-Like Daughter Ava’s 16th Birthday on Instagram: You Make Me a ‘Better Person’
Reese Witherspoon celebrated daughter Ava‘s 16th birthday on Instagram Wednesday, sharing side-by-side photos of the teen as a little girl and now — further proving they’re basically the same person (well, except for that 23-year age gap).
“Wow! My sweet girl turns 16 today,” Witherspoon wrote of her blue-eyed beauty. “I am so blessed to have such a kind, compassionate, brilliant, artistic, all-around wonderful daughter who makes me a better person everyday.”

“I [love] you @avaphillippe,” wrote the Oscar winner, using a heart emojii.
Ava is a third generation Witherspoon doppelgånger: The star’s mom Betty is also the spitting image of her daughter and granddaughter.
Despite her busy schedule, Witherspoon has said that her first priority remains being a mother.
“There are some sacrifices you make, and it hurts your heart sometimes, but my kids tell me they’re proud of what I’ve accomplished, and that just means everything,” she told Southern Living in its September issue. “I grew up with a working mom, and I have so much respect for the things she did as a nurse and a teacher. I would never begrudge her that.”

The Oscar winner goofed around with her youngest child on Sunday, recording their own video on the popular app Dubsmash.
Lip-syncing along to children’s performer Raffi’s 1994 tune “Bananaphone,” Witherspoon and Tennessee, who turns 3 on Sept. 27, took turns mouthing the cute lyrics to the song.
At first, Tennessee struggled to match the quick-paced lyrics while holding a ripe banana to his ear, but by the second verse, the toddler was a natural.
“Bananaphone,” he fake-crooned with gusto.
“Good morning!” Witherspoon captioned the video, adding a sun emojii. “Pick up the banana phone!”
Witherspoon had previously opened up about the struggle to balance her career and motherhood.
“There are some sacrifices you make, and it hurts your heart sometimes, but my kids tell me they’re proud of what I’ve accomplished, and that just means everything,” she told Southern Living. “I grew up with a working mom, and I have so much respect for the things she did as a nurse and a teacher. I would never begrudge her that.”

Reese Witherspoon says she’ll never be able juggle motherhood and a career “perfectly,” but approval from her kids makes everything worth it.
“No one’s really doing it perfectly,” Witherspoon tells Southern Living of finding balance for their September cover story, which hits stands Aug. 21. “I think you love your kids with your whole heart, and you do the best you possibly can.”
“But, you know, right now I’m feeling sad missing my little 2-year-old, and my daughter’s about to finish her freshman year of high school, and my son has a golf tournament this weekend that I hope I don’t miss,” the actress continues.

Witherspoon, who tells the magazine she lives by her grandmother’s motto of “if you look good you feel good,” says support from her children make difficult decisions easier.
“There are some sacrifices you make, and it hurts your heart sometimes, but my kids tell me they’re proud of what I’ve accomplished, and that just means everything,” she says in the interview. “I grew up with a working mom, and I have so much respect for the things she did as a nurse and a teacher. I would never begrudge her that.”

The actress, who recently bought a house in Nashville — “Everything is a little bit slower here, and I think I’m ready for that in my life again. When I’m here my brain relaxes” — says being back where she grew up brings out her drawl.
“Early on, someone said, ‘Well, you’re never gonna get a job with an accent like that.’ I learned to change it up, but it’s like a pair of slippers that I put on when I’m at home. I start to talk more and more Southern. My kids know when I’m serious. I get really Southern,” Witherspoon jokes.

Reese Witherspoon shared a sweet shot of her two sons on Instagram Monday. The candid snap showed 2½-year-old Tennessee James adorably embracing older brother Deacon, 12. The siblings are all smiles as they reunite after Deacon’s stint at summer camp comes to a close.
“Someone is really excited his brother is home from camp! Welcome home, Deacon!” Witherspoon, 39, captioned the pic, complete with a #brotherlove hashtag and a heart emoticon.

This summer has seemingly been all about family fun for Witherspoon. On July 20, she posted a cute photo of her and Tennessee posing in summery blue and white outfits next to a conch shell.
And earlier in the season, Witherspoon traveled to Italy with daughter Ava, 15. The actress and her mini-me daughter took outfit coordination to a whole new level, donning matching floral patterns.

“Sweet lil walks with this sweet lil guy,” Witherspoon captioned the pic, complete with a heart and #VacationMode hash tag.

During a seemingly endless summer, Witherspoon recently returned from a trip to Italy with daughter Ava, 15. And although the actress and Tennessee came close to matching above, Witherspoon and her eldest child took outfit coordination to another level on their international jaunt.

If you saw the preview for buddy cop movie Hot Pursuit with Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara and felt just a little like you were being patronized by Hollywood, good news! The movie totally flopped at the box office and because movie stars are basically filthy rich children, Reese and Sofia are blaming the flop on each other.
Since you probably didn’t see the film, let me reassure your decision not to throw away your money. One critic shared his disappointment with the film, “The proven comic gifts of Witherspoon and Vergara have gone MIA.” Take this moment to think of something Reese Witherspoon has done that is actually funny. I know, I can’t think of anything either.
Reportedly, the two became close friends during the process (since in addition to acting they were both producing the movie) when they thought they were hilarious and were going to make a bunch more money. When the film only made back it’s $35 million dollar budget, the two started playing the blame game.
“Reese blames Sofia’s accent and ‘irritating laugh,’ while Sofia blames Reese for not being sexy or funny enough,” an insider told RadarOnline.com.
Ladies, ladies, how are you just noticing those faults now!? You both are being foolish if you didn’t notice them going into the film.
Now, this situation only gets better, Witherspoon’s husband, Jim Toth, is the agent for both women. When he tries to make amends between the two, they apparently accuse him of playing favorites. Umm, he’s married to one of them; I’m confused how there wouldn’t be a favorite in that situation.
And now for the best description by the previously mentioned critic, “A laugh could die of loneliness in this shrill, slapstick buddy farce.” Oh thank you, dear critic, you have totally justified me not seeing that movie.
